To be fair, Harrison put two TDs on Jeff before Jeff got out of the gate, then turned around and squeaked a mere 21 points on McCutcheon including one of those scores on a busted play and another where a haphazard McCutcheon D was out of position on a sweep play.  Credit for the third score on a trick play. 

On paper Jeff looks a lot better than they do in person.  Also, in using Harrison as a high-end measuring stick, this isn't the year for that.  Realize that they beat West Lafayette by one TD.  West Lafayette is 2-5 and only beat LCC this year by a TD.  WL hasn't been 2-5 since 2004 when Harrison and McCutcheon were 4A and Benton Central and Tipton were 3A.  Incidentally, LCC's 1-6 this season having just dropped it's sixth game to Tipton 49-7 ... that's not a misprint.  Will have one more piece in the puzzle as Roncalli comes to Harrison this week.

I'd take HSE and Avon by 3 using paper for them and in-person for Jeff.

While true, you eventually have to beat the teams on your schedule more often than you don’t.

Don’t view it so as much as a head to head poll/ranking so as much as what teams do with the schedule they are presented.

Decatur Central can’t help it that the Mid-State is not as strong as years past but they scheduled AVON and NEW PAL in the non-conference.  What else do you want?

Crown Point also.  They tried with Pike but the Red Devils haven’t held up their end of the bargain.

Even Merrillville…who I’ve been more critical of as anyone…went out of state in the non-conference.

DC’s speed is truly the difference maker when it comes to their domination of the Mid-State and when they were in 5A.

There still aren’t many 6A teams that possess more speed than the Hawks either.

I think they can undoubtedly play with LC in a potential sectional contest, but probably not LN.

As for Merrillville, I’ve always been told I don’t let go of grudges and I’m sure I bought into that boy Cody’s speak but when they came down to Indy and got smashed by Chatard a few years ago, I was out on the Pirates.

I’ve never forgiven them.

I see DC as a total non-factor in the tournament. I tried telling everyone in the pre-season, but few listened. Welcome to 6A football, it's just a different brand.

We had to listen to Indy folk a couple years ago telling us DC was going to stomp a mud hole in poor old Snider in the state title game. What a joke that was!!! The funny thing is you all really believed it.

Go back to 2015 and the great and mighty New Pal was going to demolish Snider at state… Yeah, that didn’t work out for ya either…

Point is, I am fully onboard with Indy dominating 6A football due to sheer numbers, but I’m not at all onboard with Indy even winning 50% in the other classes.

I’ve watched DC this year, they wouldn’t beat Crown Point or Carroll, much less dream of competing with Carmel. They wouldn’t win 5A either. Stop with the DC nonsense…

harping on a game decided in the last 15 seconds 10 years later, remind me how many state titles does new pal have since that game? Coincidentally also wasn't me you'd have been talking to about this game, as my account wasn't even created at the time.

in the last 10 years, an Indy school has won 5a state 60% of the time, and a 4a school has won it 50% of the time.
Westfield won it once on I believe their last year in 5a.

Decatur, with Polson, would be an absolute battle with New Pal this year were they in 5A.

They won’t get past LN in 6A.
