From someone who enjoys talking about personal choice and freedoms, you sure do become awful judgmental when someone in this case, myself, has chosen to have a belief system on its financial impact of an extras maybe, just maybe $1.23 on a purchase inside the county in question as some somehow makes me "wealthy" in your eyes. Classic One can believe in personal choices and freedom are not to be meaningfully constrained by the state, and yet still be critical of an individual's choices. They are not mutually exclusive. I choose not to blindly contribute my hard-earned wealth to a state that kowtows to the wants of a billionaire and/or a billion dollar+ sports franchise. Doesn't matter if it is $1.23 or $123. A principled approach. Quote

Have fun. Do food truck vendors offer cash only/tax free options? Same goes for your tickets to GenCon. 1 hour ago, psaboy said: Indiana is getting played like a fiddle, Bears will not leave the Chicago area. Or possibly waking up some folks to the ways Illinois/Chicago does government business? I hear a lot about the politics part of it when listening to people discuss this topic. Hard not to in all reality. Quote

Regarding food trucks I hope those selling a good BPT accept cash, but just in case I'll bring enough food from home. It's called being prepared. I use a debit/credit card only as a last resort for POS transactions like at a restaurant or grocery store. I used a credit card to purchase my GenCon ticket, but did not pay the exorbitant extra fee to have the ticket mailed to my home. So on the day I attend I'll get the ticket from the Will Call booth. 1 Quote

Indiana isn't being played..... they are here and ready if Bears want to make the BEST business decision, HOWEVER, just bc us FANS or Season Ticket holders think it's the wise decision doesn't mean the Bears will. Everything is negotiable and the dummies down in Springfield ALWAYS seem to make it way harder than it ever HAS to be, but that's their M.O. 15 hours ago, Bash Riprock said: Maybe….could be having fun with Illinois statehouse. All about motivation and at the end of the day: Bears have to protect future tax liabilities, that are fair, which until recently Illinois was NOT negotiating in that capacity. Quote

Why is paying the Tax for the ticket ok for this GenCon but paying tax for anything else BAD ? maybe because it fits your personal interest and you are willing to pay whatever fee/tax there was to attend this event because that money was not going to deter your choice of entertainment. That is your personal choice of the principled life you live. Yet, judgment falls onto others who have valued their personal choice of what they are comfortable with in the realm of taxable transactions for entertainment purposes. 1 Quote
