Some of the Muslim boys in my class at Woodlan a dozen or so years ago had a non school related soccer league team called Mujahadeen. They pulled the Woodlan Warriors name and interpreted Mujahadeen as Warrior. Quote

Had a nephew and niece graduate from Badger High School in Lake Geneva, WI. Nickname? You may think, no way they did that, but yep, they did……the Badgers. IU has an alumni summer camp in Elkhart Lake, WI. I had a blast working there for a couple of summers. I actually coached with a guy that went to Elkhart Lake HS. Their nickname is the Resorters. lol Quote

My cousins went to Chatard. Grandfather went to Cathedral. I'm not Catholic, but if we would've stayed in Carmel (moved to Santa Claus when I was four), I might have gone to Cathedral or Chatard. Dad went to Emmerich Manuel, Mom went to North Central (with Babyface). 1 Quote
Gipper Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago Although I’m trying hard to keep this non-political, this next one proves I can’t: the Effingham (IL) Flaming Hearts. Being they are located in that heavily taxed state, Bleeding Hearts would be more appropriate. Business as usual for the Freeburg Pretzels, Lake Forest Scouts, and Schaumburg Saxons… 1 Quote
Gipper Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago I would be remiss if i didn’t offer a little praise to Blackford and North Central (just north of Terre Haute, not the one on 86th Street in Indianapolis) for thinking outside the box. Their monikers of the Bruins and Thunderbirds offer fresh alternatives to the overplayed Bears and Cardinals/Eagles/Hawks. Wabash and Brebeuf are trying to go the un-PC route by using the Apaches and Braves as opposed to Indians, but I can see through it. Quote
Gipper Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago (edited) And how about those Manchester Squires as opposed to Cavaliers and the Southmont Mounties for making the dubious choice of honoring the long arm of the law in our neighbors to the north? Edited 1 hour ago by Gipper Quote

Maybe not Carmel good, but not bad for a landlocked state smack dab in some of the world’s best, yet nauseatingly expensive skiing terrain in the world. Quote
Gipper Posted 47 minutes ago Author Posted 47 minutes ago I do know my swimming as I swam at South Newton. The William D. Elbert Aquatic Centre is well known for only having 5 competition lanes as opposed to 6 or 8. As a side note, it’s not named after Elbert, I just chose to honor him as he was both my principal and Pappy Gipper’s basketball coach when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Second side note, daddio played for the Kentland Blue Devils who were quite good, offering as BDP as a forerunner to RDP. Quote

North Central is SOUTH of the Haute in gold old Sullivan County right by the WTWO weather station… Quote
