hhpatriot04 Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Braves kick off season with loss The Tribune-Star, Terre Haute, Ind Derek Harper, The Tribune-Star, Terre Haute, Ind. Fri, August 21, 2026 at 11:59 PM EDT· Terre Haute South kicked off its high school football season with a 7-6 loss at Vincennes Lincoln on Friday night. The game went to halftime deadlocked at zero both teams had opportunities in the second quarter to score, but an interception on each side prevented those ideal chances from being converted. Coach Greg Barrett said his team didn't come in prepared and he thought they overlooked a good football team. "The size doesn't always matter," Barrett explained. "They flat-out kicked our butt tonight." Quote

Boilernation Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Death, Taxes, and Evansville Memorial has a QB. That kid was throwing some very nice balls against Jasper on Friday night. The TD pass while rolling to his left in the 1st half was an elite throw. I have a feeling GIbson Southern should be higher than 6. Big one this weekend for Reitz as the younger Sorgi visits the Bowl. Quote
tango Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Mine would be: 1. Memorial (always enjoy the WITZ radio broadcast) 2. GS (Floyd Central is a quality Wk. 1 opponent) 3. Castle (got the benefit of what sounded like some questionable clock management at the end by North) 4. North (snatched defeat from the jaws of victory?) T5. Reitz (surprisingly, Harrison kept it close until after the half) T5. Heritage Hills (its South Spencer) T5. Mater Dei (its Central) 8. North Posey (nice W against SR) 9. Jasper (JCats need a "get-right" game and Harrison is the lamb) 10. Boonville (its Bosse) HM. Southridge Quote

Southridge Gibson Southern probably could be higher, but I think No. 2 is a bit high. Where would they be had they won? Not sure how you can have HH and Reitz tied, given the recent matchup. Maybe, I factor in previous seasons a bit too much early in the season, or I just hate them Titans? Quote

IMO, if GS had beat Floyd, they would be #1. Losing by 1 score to a 5A school in Wk1 after replacing what they had to replace is pretty solid to me. I might have Castle at #2 if they hadn't been gifted the W by North. I personally don't put much stock at all into last year. Quote

Some common opponents will help sort out HH-NP-GS. If HH's offense plays like they did against SS, they might lose to Apollo. ETA: Why do you hate Vincennes? Quote

HH getting a lot of mileage out of running trick plays against little old South Spencer....shame shame. @tango has it pretty close I'd imagine. GS had 507 yards of offense Friday. Quote

If you factored in last years success....GS was the #1 team in the area last year right? I can't believe I'm being rage bated by your simple tactics. LOL Quote

LOL HH had the higher end of season Sagarin rating, plus we both know injuries played a huge factor for both teams... 4A ball is a different animal lol Quote

Some of us work hard to find competition. Quote

You're talkin' 'bout practice!?" Fair fair. So is HH's out-of-state competition going to help/hurt its Sagarin rating this year? "Recruits" -- noticing more and more Westside Catholic names on certain rosters which are supposedly cornfed and bred boys from the sticks... Quote

Although Memorial's roster has a distinct Bosse flair in the TD column this week. Not the mention the southern accent in Northern Spencer county. Quote
