foxbat
Respect from adversaries ... https://sports.yahoo.com/raheem-moster-says-hes-giving-damien-williams-his-super-bowl-jersey-back-013209812.html This is something that I try to explain to my youth players on the field. Football players are a unique "warrior class" that share a lot in common with the guy across the ball. You can spend the entire game going hard at each other, but still have the utmost respect for the guy. In the end, there's something shared between those who have strapped on a helmet that transcends the field.
Irishman
Not ashamed to admit I choked up a little when I saw this. John was truly one of the good guys in pro sports. foxbat
https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/2020-02-26-high-school-student-gives-bonus-points-test-winston-lee-23934983.html FTA: “If you could, could you give my bonus points to whoever scores the lowest?” the student’s note asked. Lee told Good Morning America he was “surprised” by the message, which had zero specifications about who it would be helping. “He didn’t care if he considered them a friend, didn’t care if they were cool, didn’t matter to him what situation had caused them to score lower, he just wanted to help, be kind, commit a loving act,” Lee wrote of his student. The teacher said that the student’s final score would have been a 99 out of 100, if not for his five-point donation. He told Good Morning America that he decided to go through with the offer, giving the points to a student who wouldn’t have passed the test without them.

Muda69
Friends share Powerball jackpot win, keeping 1992 promise: https://apnews.com/b18c52064dd99c5f540b453c277fe3cb Quote A western Wisconsin man will share his millions in lottery winnings with a longtime friend because of a promise they made to each other nearly three decades ago. Friends Tom Cook and Joseph Feeney shook hands in 1992 and promised that if either one of them ever won the Powerball jackpot, they would split the money. That promise came to fruition last month when Cook bought the winning ticket for a $22 million jackpot at Synergy Coop in Menomonie. When Cook called to give his friend the good news, Feeney couldn’t quite believe it. “He called me, and I said, ‘are you jerking my bobber?’” said Feeney, an avid fisherman. Cook retired after hitting the jackpot while Feeney was already retired. Neither has any extravagant plans for the winnings but are looking forward to enjoying more family time. “We can pursue what we feel comfortable with. I can’t think of a better way to retire,” Cook said. The pair said they’re looking forward to some traveling. The men chose the cash option of about $16.7 million, leaving each with nearly $5.7 million after taxes are paid. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in about 292 million.
