whiteshoes
I have decided to change the format in which I present the dynasty rankings at the end of this season. In prior years, I would list all teams that have been included in my Top 100 since 2007. However, the list has grown so large that it has become a difficult read. Therefore, starting this season I am only going to list the Top 100 and will follow that up with state listings. Again, schools compile points by being ranked in the final poll each season. Twenty-five points are awarded just for being in the final poll and points are awarded for a school’s final position in the poll. For instance, a school finishing on the top of the final poll will receive 125 points, a school finishing at the bottom of the poll will receive 26 points. Here is the Top 100 Dynasty Ranking at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Each school is listed by its ranking, last seasons ranking and its total points. Fishers has only been a school for 15 years or so. Pretty short lifespan to be considered dynastic over a school like Ev Reitz.
BTF
I want to say he started in 2007. And the only teams on the list are teams that made his national Top 100 in the past. That's the only sense I can make of it. There are plenty of teams not on the list who've had better dynasties than the ones who made his list. I noticed a red flag when no small schools were represented. I'm positive this list only consists of teams who've made the National Top 100, dating back to 2007 maybe. I must be missing something. I understand what he's done. He's using ONLY the national poll, it's just not a good measuring stick for a dynasty. A dynasty can only be measured by a program's dominance in the tournament that they play. For instance: Three or four straight championships. Making the National Top 100 one time in the past 16 years doesn't qualify you as a dynasty. When talking dynasties in Indiana, I think you have to start with Warren Central, Luers, LCC, and Center Grove. There are others, those just come to mind first.

All states have teams that are dynasties in their respective states, but my list is teams that have been able to maintain a lofty status on a national level. Most of the teams, if not all, in my list are schools who have been consistent winners for several years.

I like you man but you are acting purposefully dense in this case. I am all for giving the little guys “love” but this is a national ranking system that is taking results from all 50 states and ranking teams hypothetically so that guys like you and I can debate fictional head to head matchups on a forum to get us to next fall’s first day of practice. Even the Luers teams with Smith would be hard pressed to crack the national top 100, let alone defeat Indiana’s premier 5A/6A programs and I say that with ZERO disrespect to Luers. This is all hypothetical of course but it’s pretty cut and dry when it comes to sustained success. Just because teams like LC and Fishers don’t boast the state championships of Luers and LCC doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of their ranking here. Most central Indy 5A/6A sectionals and regionals are loaded so great teams go home early. Case in point, Brownsburg and Cathedral this past fall. whiteshoes
I appreciate the love for small schools and each year I track several throughout the country as they near the poll. Teams like Alcoa (TN). They are a Class 3A team in the state whose only loss this season was to Maryville, a highly respected 6A team in a 24-21 game. Alcoa has won the Class 3A title in Tennessee every year since 2014. Despite all that, they have only been ranked in the Top 100 three times since 2007. Now on the flip side is Hollywood (FL) Chaminade-Madonna, a Class 1M team in Florida who finished ranked third in the country. The difference is strength of schedule. CM played and defeated Baltimore (MD) St. Francis Academy, Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic, and Miami (FL) Central among a group of others in a very difficult schedule. Last year there was a small private school out of Nashville (TN), Lipscomb Academy, who were able to finish ranked 9th in the country due to an impressive season run. This season, they began highly ranked but fell short of expectations and quickly fell out of the rankings. And one final thought on this from a local level, Chatard was really close to being ranked this season. The only thing holding them back was a schedule that included Indianapolis Tech, Indianapolis Shortridge and Columbus North. The wins over Cathedral and Elder helped, but just not quite enough. Hope this helps.

What does being ranked in the National Top 100 have to do with a dynasty? Not sure how I'm being dense. Whiteshoes is ONLY qualifying teams that have made his Top 100. Calling Fishers, LC, and Pike dynasties is laughable. These ranking are nothing more than a measuring stick for teams that have made the Top 100 in the past. Congratulations on making the Top 100 once, but you've dominated nothing over a period of time. These schools aren't dynasties, not even a little bit. Luers, LCC, Chatard, and Lutheran ARE dynasties because they dominated their respective class. This has nothing to do with Luers ability to beat Fishers in a head to head matchup. It has everything to do with dominating your competition in the class in which you compete. Pike for f**** sake? Am I on candid camera?

I know it is sort of cringey to see some of those 5A/6A schools without postseason resumes listed whereas the schools you mentioned are not but I think you are getting too hung up specifically on the term as opposed to the nature of what this poll is trying to do…which is compare hypothetical matchups between talented schools over a period of time. I will stop attempting to speak on @whiteshoes behalf but that is my interpretation.

As it relates to this compilation, it is defined as teams that have appeared in my Top 100 at the end of a particular season. Now that may not fit your definition of the word dynasty, but I simply use the word for lack of a better one. However, most it would be hard to argue that most of the teams in the poll have been consistent winners over the period from 2007-2023. And yes, I did take the term 'dynasty' literal. I get that it only relates to your past Top 100's. You have your hands full compiling data from that poll alone. I can't imagine you have time to assess every single team in the nation. I'm presuming Pike made the poll in 2007 along with Carmel?
psaboy
When has Pike ever been a thought in Indiana high school football, maybe back in the 40's & 50's ??
