Didn't say they would handle Carmel . You said Carmel will win the North and it won't be close . I believe Homestead or Merrillville would give them a good game .
-
Are people forgetting about Merrillville ? The Pirates just beat a Jeff team who beat Lawrence Central . Carmel only beat LC by 2 scores . I believe Merrillville would at least give Carmel a good game if it happened .
-
That’s a pretty bold prediction. I believe Carmel was better last year, and they only beat Valpo 14-10 in the northern Semistate. Why do you think this years Northern semistate wont be close?

Powlus injury certainly adds to it because they instantly became very one dimensional without him. I expected him to be back by now. I think the main culprit is inexperience. Penn doesn’t have a lot of Seniors and is loaded with Sophomores and juniors. Yes Powlus will be back next year. It is very hard to beat good teams this year , when they know you can only run the ball.

Agreed, Penn’s offense is horrific. No passing game and very predictable. If Penn does get by Warsaw( toss up), their season will end the following week.

Snider Panthers 2019
GOLDRUSH1985 replied to psaboy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That 98 Homestead team was very solid , kept us from a chance at a 4 peat and still painful to this day . Good luck to both Snider and Homestead tonight , mad respect for Ft Wayne football . -
Apparently Kelly's game plan that he had 2 weeks to implement , didn't include the chance of rain. Team did not look ready to play , especially in the rain . These total meltdowns that ND has experianced in the last several years( Michigan , Miami , Clemson ) are hard to explain . Kind of reminds me of my Penn Kingsmen in state title games(save 2015) where nothing can go right .

Best postseason run

And the reason I like the all in Playoff format . Northwood had injuries plague them in the regular season , only to get the players back for the playoffs . -
NIC - END OF THE REGULAR SEASON
GOLDRUSH1985 replied to Indian72's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
You must of not seen the other thread about this game ending . I've talked to several people in public around the Mishawaka area. Their response is , I can't understand why Penn doesn't want to keep this game . I guess there are a lot of people misinformed . -
NIC - END OF THE REGULAR SEASON
GOLDRUSH1985 replied to Indian72's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
What does that have to do with anything , as Mishawaka slotted Marian and Elkhart into weeks 1 and 2 . Dean said they are honoring their contract . I love how people love to blame Penn , but Mishawaka left the NIC , that is the real reason we won't have this game for at least the next 4 years . -
NIC - END OF THE REGULAR SEASON
GOLDRUSH1985 replied to Indian72's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Contrary to what some people think , both Schools want the Penn - Mishawaka series to continue . I've said it all along , it's a scheduling issue for the next few years as both schools have contracts for week 1-2 . https://www.southbendtribune.com/sports/high_school/football/noie-one-more-backyard-brawl-for-mishawaka-and-penn-on/article_9e55721d-e003-54a4-bc58-73357024a6c4.html -
NIC - END OF THE REGULAR SEASON

Penn average at best this year . Mishawaka with home field advantage wins by 7-10 . I would love to be wrong though . -
Center Grove vs. Cathedral @Tech
GOLDRUSH1985 replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I say Cathedral wins 5A win or lose. -
Agreed . I would not be surprised to see Penn lose it's next 2 games .
-
NP with perhaps it's best team ever vs Penn with perhaps it's worst team ever(or at least in the last 35 years). Should be a good game .
-
Not sure i would come to that conclusion based off of 1 game .

Transitive property"s do not work in football , to many variable's like weather , Wind , rain , snow etc . I would look at head to head matchups between Valpo and Mish . Penn has opened the season with Valpo for 20 years , they aren't giving that game up .Neither team is Butt hurt , the scheduling doesn't line up period . What would be the gain in Penn's favor that would make them drop a team that they have opened up with for 20 years , to play Mish ? There isn't one .
-
You don't get it , it's a scheduling issue and nothing else . Penn is not giving up Valparaiso , who is consistantly better than Mishawaka .What would they gain???? They are not giving up top out of state teams for Mishawaka , again what would be the gain ??? . So if there was a way to play them in weeks 4-9 , I'm sure they would . Mishawaka and Penn will be in conference play weeks 4-9 .
