IFCA released their week 1 poll today. No WIC teams are currently ranked. South Putnam is receiving votes in 1A but that's all.

IFCA released their coaches poll for week 1. Parke Heritage is at #5 in 1A. North Vermillion is #8 in 1A. Attica is receiving votes in the poll.

Let's get this goin!! Who does everyone see winning the WRC in 2020? North Vermillion again? Parke Heritage? I know Riverton Parke won't be playing this weekend. What are you guys expecting this season? Any surprises?
-
Thanks! I'll check it out.

Does anyone have a site or anything where I can watch games from last season? Trying to get into football from other parts of the state and would like to see what teams have coming back. Any help is appreciated!

Any other Western Indiana Conference fans on here?! WIC alignment changed this year from East and West to Big and Small schools. A little intriguing. Not sure what to expect from some of these teams. My favorite would probably be Indian Creek. They had a pretty solid squad last year. Northview was pretty young last year. Edgewood had a solid year but I think they benefited from a weak schedule. Sullivan lost some key players. Expecting them to be young. West Vigo lost their starting QB and numerous other skill position players. Not expecting much from this season. North Putnam always has a solid squad. If anyone has anything they'd like to add, feel free. Looking for more info all the time. Hope everyone stays safe and we have a great season!! Go Vikings!!

Terre Haute North and South will be playing each other at Indiana State's Memorial Stadium.
-
Ohio State, Iowa, and Nebraska football parents have sent letters to the B1G commish regarding his decision to postpone the season. Don't think it'll make a big difference but interesting nonetheless.

Terre Haute North and South Vermillion held their scrimmage at THN this afternoon. Looked like a solid crowd.
-
Just a 2 week stoppage like @TheStatGuy said. They should be good to go for week 2 barring anyone else tests positive.

West Vigo and North Central in week 1 has been canceled. West Vigo is currently looking for another week 1 opponent. -
West Vigo's scrimmage with North Vermillion was canceled last week due to NV stopping football activities. Their week 1 game against North Central was also canceled. Currently looking for another week 1 opponent.

Hey Bellmont - Whats with the schedule?
wvigo13 replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
South Vermillion struggled in the WIC in football most years. They were competitive in basketball some years. SV was really good in the WIC when they had the Walsh kid at QB. They had a solid class going through the school at that time that contributed to their success. They were pretty solid a few years ago in the WRC. As you said gave Danville a run for their money. Took a bit of a step back last year. I think Barrett turns them around and makes them a consistent winner. Not sure he'll get them to the level he had North Putnam at, but i wouldn't bet against him. Miss playing those guys every year in football. It was a good rivalry. -
I haven't heard about anything about it around here. If they do limit the number of fans, who do you let in?? You can't have hundreds lining up at the gate and turn most of them away. It should be done in advance. Let the parents and close family get first dibs and the remaining go to the public. First come, first serve after that until tickets are gone.

16th Annual Wabash Valley All Star Game
wvigo13 replied to Coach Nowlin's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I'm not sure about the insurance thing. The game is annually put on by the WVFCA. They used to host the game at either THN or THS but now it's usually held at ISU. This year it was held at the Boys & Girls Club field due to the limited audience. It's usually always advertised by the high schools and the local news stations. They have an ad ran in the newspaper about 2 weeks before the game. It's not advertised extremely well. They could do better. I'm not too sure about the funding part of it but I'm pretty sure it's always funded by the WVFCA and FIrst Fincancial Bank. -

The public was not allowed to attend. Only family members who were given tickets by the players. Everyone was screened before the practices and everyone was screened before entering the gate for the game. It was streamed on indianasportsnetwork.com. I don't know all the details. That's all I was told. As far as I know, no one tested positive. -
Big 10 to cancel all 2020 non-conference games

Not surprising. I saw on twitter they were talking about all the power 5 conferences doing this. -
IHSAA 8 Man Football Proposal
wvigo13 replied to gahoosierfan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yes I've been to many WRC games over the years. My family went to Turkey Run and Riverton Parke. So I've been up there quite a few times. I think I've been to every WRC school at least once. Great schools and great games. 8 man football would have been a great option for Turkey Run in their last few years. I'd love to see some schools adopt it. I don't know much about it but I'd be interested in watching it some time if schools around here join. -

This whole "contraction" stuff is bs. Who cares about the small schools playing football with low numbers. Have you ever been to a small school football game?? Those little communities come out in droves to support those kids and teams. Sometimes that is the only way to rally the community together. A Friday night under the lights cheering on the local kids that you watched growing up playing football in their yards. Small school football may not always be pretty but it's special in its own way. I used to love driving up to Turkey Run and watching them play the covered bridge game against Rockville. Or going up to Riverton Parke and watching them play another small school. I played at West Vigo which isn't a big school. We used to play Linton every year and that was the game everyone looked for on the schedule. Those were great games. This whole contraction crap is ridiculous. Let the kids play if they want to whether its traditional football or the 8 man. Good luck this fall! -
I feel the same way. All the BLM people say their lives matter, but what about the innocent gunned down in Chicago every weekend? Do they not matter or is it just because it wasn't by the hands of law enforcement?? You can't pick and choose who's lives matter if your slogan is "All black lives matter". You don't see any pro athletes or anyone else standing up for those shot every weekend. Only when it's by the hands of police or someone of authority.

I'd be curious to see how this works and what schools would join. I'd love to see some of the schools around here that don't play football now join this.
