  1. 2010 would have been my senior season. We were loaded with seniors that year. We've always kinda had a rivalry with Edgewood. I don't think it's as big with football as it is with basketball and baseball. But I do love that red turf they have now lol. It should be a really good game Friday night. Hatchets had a solid season last year. I'm looking forward to playing a school around our size instead of North Central who we've opened with the last few years.
  2. Looking forward to see how LInton responds to a "down" season in Linton terms. Most teams would kill for a 8-4 season but that's a down year for Linton. I'm expecting Linton to win this one. Don't think it'll be a blowout but Linton should win. Would love to see Linton rebound and have a great season. Wish we still played Linton, miss those hard hitting games. Good luck to the Miners!
  3. You coming up for the game Friday night? I will be there. I'm not sure what to expect. West Vigo returns 16 starters. The skill guys all return and both QBs return. WV used a 2 QB system last year and it didn't work too well. Coach Cobb said he was gonna name a starter this week so I'm curious to see who he chooses. Marrs would be my choice, I think he has the better arm and touch. Had a really nice TD pass in the scrimmage. He had the most success last season too. Defense might be a work in progress. Not sure what is back on that side of the ball. I know they have a few new guys out that haven't played in years prior. Carter Murphy a 6'3" 230lb WR/TE who also plays baseball is back this year. He should be a nice weapon for whoever the QB is. I'm looking forward to this game. Should be a good one!! Good luck to your Hatchets!
  4. It's Week 1 in the WRC!! Parke Heritage is probably the favorite with South Vermillion a close second. Seeger is looking to continue to improve after their upset win over SV in the sectional opener last year. Seeger could be a surprise team. Week 1 games: Friday, Aug. 20 Attica at Riverton Parke ©, 7 pm Fountain Central at Southmont, 7 pm North Vermillion at North Central, 7 pm Seeger at Parke Heritage ©, 7 pm South Vermillion at Covington ©, 7 pm Let's discuss some WRC football!!
  5. Friday Night LIghts are finally back!! The WIC doesn't have a lot of fans on here but I'm trying to change that! Looking forward to a great conference season and see which teams surprise us this year!! Games in Week 1: Friday, Aug. 20 Brown County at Owen Valley, 7 pm Cloverdale at South Putnam ©, 7 pm Greencastle at Crawfordsville, 7 pm Indian Creek at Batesville, 7 pm Mitchell at Edgewood, 7 pm North Knox at Sullivan, 7 pm North Putnam at North Montgomery, 7 pm Northview at Terre Haute North, 7 pm Washington at West Vigo, 7 pm I'll post my predictions later this week.
  6. Before the WIC expanded, we always played the same schedule. Always ended with Sullivan and Northview. WIC expanded a few years ago and they've shuffled it around because they had to. We still play Sullivan and Northview, but they aren't back to back anymore.
  7. West Vigo did a decent job this year partnering with WMMC out of Marshall, IL. They would video stream and include play by play. It wasn't great but it was definitely better than not seeing the games at all. Their feed buffered too much and the camera angle was way too close to the LOS. Greene County Sports is a pretty good one that I've watched. Those guys do a great job.
  8. They have not. I haven't heard anything on that front. Been really quiet.
  9. I went to West Vigo and I loved the small school feel. I loved knowing everyone in the building and all the teachers knew who you were. It was a personal thing. All the administrators knew you from middle-high school. If any of you have ever been to WV, you know how small it is. It has 2 hallways that lead from the gym to the school office. Back hallway leads to the middle school and cafeteria. I couldn't imagine going to school of 2,000-4,000 kids. Back to the topic. The renovation is good idea but then you have the same issue arise again, they don't have the money to keep the schools going. They've already closed a few and are closing more after this year. They've even raised our taxes to help and it doesn't feel like it is. Vigo County is losing money because kids leave the area and VC doesn't get the money they once got for them. WV's enrollment is down from when I was in school. It was around 580-590 when I graduated in 2011. Now it's around 515. Not a huge decline, but it's there. I think THN used to have just under 2,000 kids. Now around 1,700. The conference thing is interesting. They could play as an independent. THN and THS already play their fair share of small schools in other sports besides football.
  10. It was brought up on here recently, further up in the thread, about consolidation. I can tell you someone in the know has said TH is looking to consolidate all 3 high schools into one. They've been having funding issues which is why they closed a few schools a few years ago and are consolidating a few others after the school year. I was told it could be within the next 10 years. Plenty of land on the east side of TH. The old K-Mart building could be an interesting site. Right off 41, just about a mile or so south of I-70.
  11. I live here in ole Terre Haute. We've lost a lot lately business wise and nothing is coming in to take it's place. The school corporation had a big scandal with millions of dollars involved. I think that alienated some people and they left. Some still think some shady business going on with them with money disappearing and then magically reappearing. West Vigo also has a few transfer from both schools. And West Vigo has had an enrollment drop too. When I graduated, enrollment was right around 560 or 570. It's down to about 515 now. Not a huge drop but noticeable in a school that size.

  13. Torn ACL. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/30422487/no-12-indiana-hoosiers-qb-michael-penix-jr-tears-acl-season
  14. Big high school basketball message board over at Harrell's. Lots of southern Indiana flavor over there.
  15. Danville needed that TD just before the half. Score after the half and it's a one possession game.
  16. Danville hadn't converted a 3rd down all game. And then don't on that drive either. And the coach thought it was a good idea to go for it on 4th down? They couldn't gain a yard on the play before. Offensive line of Danville is getting no push off the line.
