  1. Yes, in high school.
  2. So what would you tell the parent of a potential athlete whose is on the fence about letting their child participate in tackle football? That they just need to "understand the inherent value"?
  3. Agree. But if a high school football program has multiple head coaches over multiple years and still the aggregate W-L percentage is very, very low, what does that tell you? Yet another dodge.
  4. And I have never said otherwise on this forum. I keep hearing this mantra on the GID of "wins and losses doesn't equal success when it comes to high football programs". Please, elaborate on the objective specifics of these other criteria of high school football success. And then find me an Indiana high school football head coach that is still coaching at the same school after say, 4-5 seasons with an aggregate W-L record less than 33%. I would suspect there are very few, if any, of these.
  5. https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/2025/07/29/indiana-attorney-shortage-commission-releases-final-report/ Not one bit shocked about this. Perhaps our resident GID legal eagles could chime in with their opinions.
  6. Bad nomenclature by the NFL since the word "virtual" typically means "not real". They should call it a camera based measurement system. And when (not if) hackers hit this NFL "central officiating center" then all hell will break loose. Nice to know a traditional chain gang will remain on the sidelines as a backup option. I wonder how much those guys will now get paid to mostly just stand around and twiddle their thumbs for a few hours?
  7. https://reason.com/2025/08/01/media-outlets-shouldnt-get-public-funds-no-matter-their-political-bias/ Agreed. Government has no business funding the media.
  8. If the activity is offered by a taxpayer funded entity within the community in which I reside then I should have a voice. Do you agree?
  9. Another typical worthless response by Mr. Sexton.
  10. Interesting to know you are against student nutrition during the school day. Good day Sparty.
  11. Nobody from southern Indiana wants to take a good chunk of the weekend to drive to Clinton county and play a game against Frankfort or Clinton Central. Believe me. The historic allure of the Reitz Bowl and the recent resurgence of the Gibson Southern program is why this event is happening.
  12. I know the difference between a dedicated student-athlete and Jeff Spiccoli. But I wonder if you do. What do you have against surfing and tasty waves?
  13. Children these days have more than enough "structured activities" available to eat up all their waking time. We wouldn't want them just "going outside to play" would we?
  14. Does it come with a nice steak dinner for the entire visiting team after the game?
  15. Yuck. What a waste of taxpayer resources. Still the Best High School football field in the nation:
  16. 156 Miles from Tri-West H.S. to Gibson Southern H.S. 196 Miles from McCutcheon H.S. to the Reitz Bowl. 200 Miles from West Lafayette H.S. to the Reitz Bowl. Hope they have a nice hotel to stay at.
  17. Hmm, sounds like a waste of resources and time. Any teacher worth his salt can tailor a single class period to accommodate the needs of multiple student groups, can't they? Or is there something in their union contract which prohibits such a complicated thing?
  18. Please, elaborate. Should members of say, the cross-country team be taking the same "athletes only" class as members of the football team?
  19. Ok. Why specific classes for those students participating in an athletic extracurricular activity? What is taught to them that can't be taught to the others/slugs/folks?
  20. So "athletes", aka those participating in an extracurricular athletic program, should be given priority over "slugs" who are not interested in extracurricular athletics but still want to improve themselves physically?
  21. I don't think the IHSAA has the authority to shut down a program. Do they? And it is the athletic departments and school boards that should have the common decency to take a good, long look at these moribund program and make the determination if the resources they consume could be better allocated elsewhere.
  22. <channel fb coaches/A.D.'s> But, but grass is so expensive to maintain! And the player's uniforms get dirty! And not having a perfectly uniform playing surface is just hard to game plan against, one more awful variable we have to take into consideration. Horrible! </channel>
