  1. It would be some kind of points system, encompassing the regular season along with the tournament. Which wouldn't be automatic BTW. You would have to earn a spot in the tournament.
  2. So why don't we have the reverse? A "failure factor" for lack of a better term. Oh yeah, because it would make Johnny and his parents sad, maybe litigious towards the IHSAA.
  3. One could also argue a school with 1073 kids doesn't belong in a tournament with a school with 5327 kids. Yet here we are...................
  4. It could be. Just that nobody wants to face the reality that in a true promotion/relegation system "1A" and "2A' level programs equals pretty bad football programs, regardless of enrollment. That could make Johnny, and his parents, upset.
  5. So a kid that goes to one meeting of the after school chess club in late August, then never goes again, would count? I did see your post. Hence my response.
  6. Sounds like inching closer to a true system of promotion and relegation. "6A" are the top tier programs, regardless of enrollment, while "1A" is the lowest tier programs, again regardless of enrollment.
  7. Americans Paid for the Trump Tariffs—and Would Do So Again: https://www.cato.org/blog/americans-paid-trump-tariffs-would-do-so-again These tariffs are bad for Americans, and should be repealed. But Trump (and Biden) are too enamored with "sticking it to China" to actually care about the citizens there are supposed to be serving.
  8. Democrats Unburdened by What They Have Done to Chicago: https://reason.com/2024/08/19/democrats-unburdened-by-what-they-have-done-to-chicago/?itm_source=parsely-api Yep, Americans will get more of the same from the uni-party. More debt, more war, more corruption. Regardless of whether Harris or Trump are victorious in November.
  9. A thing of beauty to watch, when you have the horses to run it effectively. Much better than a samey-same spread offense.
  10. Phil Donahue, whose pioneering daytime talk show launched an indelible television genre, has died: https://apnews.com/article/phil-donahue-dead-337b3630524a576407c1119f590d1dd4 Truly an American Icon. He will be missed.
  11. Delphi @ Benton Central Hamilton Heights @ Lapel Harrison @ West Lafayette Central Catholic @ Seeger Logansport @ Peru Rensselaer @ Kankakee Valley Tipton @ South Adams Tri-West @ Western Twin Lakes @ Plymouth Pioneer @ Lewis Cass
  12. Sounds like a good rule. How does rule contrast to other large Indy Area schools like Ben Davis and Warren Central? They do not have such a rule?
  13. "Indianapolis area" defined as Marion county and it's 7 surrounding donut counties (Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks) https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/08/19/indiana-high-school-football-rankings-preseason-poll-each-class-ben-davis-decatur-central-new-pal/74853345007/ Media pre-season polls:
  14. Or they just have their 3rd/4th graders play in the Lafayette 56ers youth or other area leagues, while they start up a middle/junior high program in the Faith 5th-8th grade system. Give it ten years.
  15. Mr. Greenwald is right.
  16. Since this thread name doesn't have "football" in it I'll leave this here: https://apnews.com/article/notre-dame-swim-team-suspended-gambling-7e1842a5dd23b74e25e872e29820bba0 I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.
  17. A new era in Lafayette-area 11-man high school football beings tonight when the Eagles participate in the MVC Jamboree at North Newton. Here is their 2024 schedule per Harrell's: Apparently per this article: https://www.jconline.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/08/12/faith-christian-atheltic-facility-updates-ihsaa/74735242007/, the Eagles will play it's home games this year at other area high's school's fields, with it's new stadium being ready in 2025. It be interesting to see how long it will take this fledgling Eagle program to challenge for football supremacy in Tippecanoe county.
  18. That raw talent is there. As a youth I baled hay a few times for a couple of Amish farms in my area. Those Amish kids, although most weren't over 5'9", could chuck wet, 75 pound hay bales like they were nothing.
  19. Most farmers these days aren't poor, with government subsidies, insurance, and price controls courtesy of an antiquated Farm Bill that just gets rubber stamped by congress every time.
