  1. The "old timers" who run the town and the school corporation could care less about tackle football, and several years shot down a well reasoned proposal primarily as too expensive. They grudgingly allowed a soccer program primarily because with a small school like Rossville it tends to put a kibosh on the number of bodies available to play football. Rossville will always be a basketball, and to a lesser extent baseball, school. You don't want your star shooting guard breaking his arm/leg during the tail end of the football season and not being available to start shooting hoops, do you?
  2. Seems like a lot of $ and work for a high school football game played by children.
  3. Indiana middle school cancels 'slave ship' role-play lesson after parents raise concerns: https://www.indystar.com/story/news/education/2019/09/09/indiana-westen-middle-school-howard-county-cancels-slave-ship-role-play-lesson/2234566001/ Looks like the snowflakes win again.
  4. I thought membership in the IHSAA was voluntary?
  5. https://deadspin.com/we-have-no-idea-how-many-high-schools-are-failing-title-1837378077 So who here knows who the "Title IX Coordinator" at there local government high school is? Is it usually the A.D.? Principal? Superintendent? And have they been properly trained to know the law?
  6. Is yesterday's performance by Mr. Vinatieri hint of things to come?

  10. Sounds like this varsity game shouldn't have even been played. Good chance of Shelbyville players getting injured, and for no good reason.
  11. Latest Trade War Causalities: More Than 10,000 Layoffs in August: https://reason.com/2019/09/06/latest-trade-war-causalities-more-than-10000-layoffs-in-august/ Thanks Mr. Trump.
  12. What students do after graduating could determine their high school’s rating: https://www.indystar.com/story/news/education/2019/09/09/what-students-do-after-graduating-could-determine-their-high-schools-rating/2235413001/
  13. Why yes, the government should always use its force and authority to tell parents where there children are going to school and what they will be taught. Charter schools, private schools, parochial schools, homeschooling, etc. should all be immediately outlawed. The only reasonable and right "choice" is for all children to be educated in a school run by the state.
  14. No, I don't favor such a system. How did you come to that conclusion Gonzo? Because a libertarian living in Poland supports such a system, therefore Muda69 must as well? Thanks for proving my point.
  15. Looks like a party at Gonzo's Hamilton county compound. The mosquitoes must be bad around the swamp................
  16. If I had access to the previous iteration of the GID OOB forum I could. So you deny you have made such statements in the past?
  17. No willful ignorance here, Irishman. Just an Indiana taxpayer who wants some real accountability in our expensive government schools. ISTEP and and now ILEARN are by no means perfect, but they are a start. So you are stating that the ISTA and NEA do not lobby the Indiana State Department of Education and the Indiana Legislature on the behalf of the interests of its members?
  18. Yes, I mention the public sector labor union influences on this process and you run away. Typical.
  19. I would file a complaint with my union for such a socialist system. The failings of your fellow teachers in the same building should not negatively effect your evaluation if none of the subjects you teach are directly or indirectly part of ISTEP or ILEARN. Yes, they are better than nothing. Which appears to be what the ISTA and NEA prefer.
  20. It can't. Please explain how ISTEP and now ILEARN personally affected/affect your yearly performance metrics/review in your current teaching position.
  21. Because IMHO as an Indiana taxpayer funding the government schools there needs to be some objective system to measure student progress and teacher effectiveness.
  22. As an educational professional what in your learned opinion makes the ILEARN test invalid, and therefore should not be given to students?
