  1. Yes, will be huge crowd and sure will be picked up by TV as game of the week as well. Kyle does great job breaking down the games for Indystar so can't wait what he reports on Thursday about this game!
  2. Big test for Irish will be Friday @ Brownsburg. Not sure now much rankings will move this week, but based on both teams performances last night it could be a #1 vs #2 match-up.
  3. I can't recall exactly but from what I understand the way the 2022 tournament works now in Ohio - which the GLC league resides - if a GLC school has a loss during the regular season against a non-GLC opponent it can hurt them more than it can help them during tournament seeding regardless how good that opponent is. I am sure Footballking16 can provide better explanation.
  4. Yup, I think Irish were to play Roncolli last year and they pulled out before season started, and we tried to fill schedule spot and that was best we could get.
  5. Agree, these pre season rankings don't mean much and are guesswork until at least August 19th. On a different but somewhat related topic, Cathedral only has a 8-game schedule this year as the Sept 16th date is still open and I doubt it will get filled as all the other schools schedules are set. Must be the fallout with the change in schedule criteria with GLC schools. Also only two homes games for Irish so minimal bitching about Arlington will be have to be tolerated this year!
  6. Maxpreps preseason 2022 poll has Irish ranked #33 in the country so the expectations are high. Start of season is 13 days and counting!
  7. Thanks for posting this list, very interesting to see enrollment numbers. As for my pick about DC - their coaching staff and community support reminds me of NewPal. I also watched one of those WHTR coaching interviews last season and was pretty impressed with the head coach and his passion for success. Now that my Irish are out of 5A I will be pulling for these guys. I am a homer guilty as charged!
  8. I think DC is the team to beat, not just in the south but state this year. What is interesting - maybe someone can confirm - but with DC's enrollment aren't they close to borderline 6A now? I googled their enrollment and it shows 1,845 and if I recall 6A threshold is around 1,900? If that is the case this could be their last year in 5A regardless.
  9. What a great read. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/07/25/ihsaa-football-biggest-challenges-coaching-in-2022-indiana-high-school-travel-aau-specialization/65377711007/ And we wonder what is causing HS coaching turnover? This is a must-read. Parents, social media, travel teams, private workout coaches, year-round activity and very low pay lead the list.
  10. Crazy, Irish has been averaging over 12 runs a game the last 3 post seasons games. Explosive offense gives lots of room for Irish pitching to relax to the extent of allowing runs just doesn't matter. It would be interesting to see what other HS teams even in midwest did this feat at the highest class level (4A for basketball, baseball and 5A for football).
  11. The entire Cathedral football team and coaches attend mass the afternoon before every game they play in the fall. I would assume the other Catholic high schools probably do the same thing...but at Cathedral it is a big-time tradition.
  12. On May 5th Cathedral hosted over fifty college football programs an 100+ coaches for a football showcase day to highlight the upcoming 2022-2023 Irish Football team. How many of these schools and coaches also visited RHS that day (since they were in town....)? FSVSBPWXEAMeLBe.jfif
  13. Schedule is still open for that game, or at least per MaxPreps. I assume it will be a home game. Irish only have two home games on schedule for next year....so all the bickering about Arlington will be kept to a minimum!
  14. In 6A probably a toss-up between Cathedral and Center Grove, or at least at this point? Irish QB Danny O'Neil crushed it in local workouts this spring, and as a result has been invited to camps at Alabama and Georgia in early June. He already took official visits to Notre Dame and Ohio State in April. This receiving mate Jaron Tibbs just received offer from Iowa last week with more to come. That duo could be ridiculously stupid this year especially with RB Carson Johnson returning and stud tight end @ 6'3" and 230 lbs with several D1 offers. While we did lose a lot on both lines, the explosive offense combinations might not make that matter too much this year.
  15. What is most crazy about Cathedral this year is that in the championship football game Tibbs had 200 receiving yards...and in the basketball championship he was the leading scorer for the Irish.
  16. Yes I imagine that will be one of the Ohio GLC schools which is still pending.
  17. Only two homes games for the Irish...our favorite venue will get little love this year (i.e. Arlington!) Too bad the powers at be be can't make it happen where the opening game of season would be Irish vs. Center Grove (game is 10/14 this year - last game regular season again @ CG) as the season would get more hype with defending 5A/6A champions teeing off on each other!
  18. Well deserved, wow I just read he is graduating this week from GS and will enroll at Purdue in January. Sweet!
  19. 😅 Our turn to play at your house. What is interesting, is should we (hopefully) move to 6A it looks like a forgone conclusion we will fall in the Section 8 sectional as there are only two other teams besides you guys (Columbus North, Franklin Central). That means next year we could conceivably draw each other in the first game of sectional. Cant imagine either program possibly not playing in month of November next year! Congrats on great season.
  20. Never too early to talk about next season, especially since this season is ov-a. Cathedral Athletic Director Rick Striffe was interviewed at halftime at either the Decatur Central or New Pal game by the Irish radio network...and he disclosed the 2022 schedule will be same opponents with exception of Lafayette Jeff will replace Columbus North. It would be great to open the season at Center Grove as the showcase game of the week featuring the two repeat state champions in 5A/6A. Who knows, but if anyone has the power they have plenty of time to make that happen!
  21. Agree the stats GK3 had were off the charts. I just think Curry has more of a presence where he served as the catalyst to the team which is responsible for such amazing success which may give them top 5 ranking nationally after this weekend. If I am a betting man I say Allen gets the award and would be well deserved it would just be curious to see how close the voting will be under these circumstances
  22. I think what Curry has done is remarkably impressive, and his uniqueness as a player is something I haven't seen in my 25+ years following high school football. He plays both sides of the ball (and long snapper too) and case in point is last night, he rushed for almost 40 yards on two critical plays for Center Grove and no one could bring this guy down. I think where the argument is going to revolve around while Allen may be one of the best QB's the state has ever had, Curry may be the most 'complete' football player the state has ever had. Question is what fits the criteria for Mr. Football the most?
  23. Yes I guess I was looking at it based on the time we played them vs. how good they are now two months later in the season. Should be a good one tonight, I am pulling for Westfield for the upset.
