#1 6A / #8 National Ranked Center Grove vs. #1 5A / #39 National Raked Cathedral. That is a fair question, and I actually asked a high level Cathedral administrator about that at the beginning of the season in anticipation of this show-down of both undefeated powerhouses. It is / has gotten very expensive to move a high school football game to another venue. A few years ago it cost Cathedral $7,500 to host a game at Butler Bowl and $5,000 to host game at Marian College. Basically, if Cathedral moves the game they have to pay.

Cathedral at Brebeuf Oct 8th
Dave007 replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Irish pulled starting defense unit with about 7 minutes to go in third quarter. With that being said, Brebeuf should go deep in 3A postseason they have many strengths to make that happen. -

Talked to some students and there will be a large Cathedral student section planned for this game as they plan to stake out position on the home-field stands as they plan to arrive very early. Knowing the compelling passion the students have for their team will be interesting to see them pull it off! -

Yes this is a small stadium, the visitors side may seat a few hundred if that. Expect lots of SRO! -

Cathedral vs. La Salle (Cincinnati) 10/01/2021
Dave007 replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Well, keep in mind the tradition-rich history of the four schools that make up the GCL South. Elder, St. Xavier, Moeller and LaSalle are all private schools and male-only with incredible history and legacy in football. I think St. X is the largest with around 1,200 men. -

I am curious how they even managed to get 70 points in first quarter. Is there a box score posted with scoring plays? -

Game stats attached, Irish completely overwhelmed Lancers. Only 50 yards in penalties too, pretty sure season low? -
Cathedral vs. La Salle (Cincinnati) 10/01/2021

Most of the schools in the GLC have amazing stadiums. Cincinnati Elder has 'The Pit" - which I think seats 10K - 13K and they have around 800 students. -
This will be a big test for the Irish on Friday in Cincinnati. La Salle was ranked #4 in Ohio and noticed they lost to Moeller last night 28-14, however Moller is 5-1 and will probably jump into top 5 Ohio rankings next week. La Salle's other loss was IMG Academy which is irrelevant as any high school team in the Midwest would never have a chance against that team in Florida. Too bad the game last night did nothing to help the Irish prepare other than the starters were rested mid-way through the second quarter. Irish 24 La Salle 21

Hammond Morton at Cathedral
Dave007 replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Scores from games today JV Cathedral 37 Roncalli 7 Freshman Cathedral 21 Roncalli 7 So the question is, was Cathedral supposed to originally play Roncalli last night, but was changed for some reason which would explain the last-minute scheduling of a team we had no business playing in the first place...but was maybe the only game available when the scheduling was set before season started? -

Hammond Morton at Cathedral
Dave007 replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Good grief this game was a mismatch by biblical proportions. The kicker for Hammond could not even punt it out of his own shadow, I think his longest punt was maybe 20-25 yards? Coaches agreed at pregame if it got out of control in second quarter they will go to running clock, which they did around 8 min left in 2nd quarter. -

Just realized only 4 games left in regular season before playoffs. This season going by much too quickly. After Hammond on Friday - Irish play on the road at LaSalle (Cincinnati), Brebeuf, and of course Center Grove at home. Simply put, after the game Friday the schedule gets seriously brutal (combined record of those three teams is 14-1). Not to pick on 1-4 Hammond, but Irish need to use this game to fix issues that could make them go 0-3 in those next three games as these teams will capitalize on penalties unlike the previous teams we have played. Irish 42 Hammond 7 -

CG/Cathedral at Arlington????
Dave007 replied to StatQueen's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Good grief there are already multiple threads on this form regarding the rationale about Cathedral playing homes games at Arlington this year and for the foreseeable future. I am sure as the game date gets closer this thread will blow up even more. But for the record, there is a massive parking area/lot in a strip mall that is a 5-7 minute walk to stadium. The grass field is so good it looks like turf. And the venue can hold probably around 7,000 fully packed not including SRO along the fence line, and if needed they can bring in temp. bleachers for the east end-zone. Checking in to the game does SUCK, there is only one stadium entrance and there was still a long line at the end of the first quarter of the Chatard game two weeks ago. Just get there early. I would also imagine game time might be moved back to 730PM for that reason. -
Cathedral at Columbus North
Dave007 replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Good game, agree give Columbus North credit more than was due, and realizing they have played a murderous schedule (#1 Gibson Southern in 3A, #1 Rocalli in 4A, and now #1 Cathedral in 5A) they obviously played with nothing to lose and everything to gain and good luck to them down the stretch as this will help them more than will hurt them. Watching their band perform at halftime was in itself worth the trip down from Indy. I can't believe we had two dropped punt returns by our returners that resulted in fumbles which North recovered. Top teams in the state DO NOT DO THAT. One was even called a fair catch and he still dropped it, which is very troubling as we are mid-season making mistakes that we should not be making. -

Great atmosphere last night at Arlington, I thought Chatard made good adjustments after halftime that made some differences in second half, albeit Irish had some sloppy plays and penalties otherwise the game would have really gotten out of hand more that it did. -

Should Cathedral buyArlington football field
Dave007 replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Stadium there won't happen, not even on the radar. The next big expansion projects are for dedicated basketball gym and church/chapel on campus. That is at least 5-7 years away if not longer. Sorry - forgot to cite the above photo is Brunette Park -
Bishop Chatard at Cathedral
Dave007 replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The home side stands runs from 10 yard line - 10 yard line and maybe 40 rows high, I would guess 5,000 packed in home side and 1,500 visitors side plus all the fans along both sides of fences makes it a bigger place than some might realize. I would except it pretty full on Friday. -
Bishop Chatard at Cathedral
Dave007 replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Actually the natural grass playing surface is so well maintained it looks like turf. Parking is the problem that won't go away...if you can't get a spot on the venue property you need to park at the strip mall at corner of Arlington and 46th street. -
