Wawasee (4A), Culver Military Academy (4A) and South Bend St. Joseph (4A) have turf installed.
Northridge (4A) will have it installed for the 2020 season.

I know you are upset about going to FW. I am curious if there is somewhere else you think they should go?
I'm not upset about the Tigers going to Fort Wayne. No disrespect to Homestead and Carroll (and Noblesville), but none of those teams are on the level of Penn. An additional benefit for Warsaw facing those teams is the fact that I don't believe any of them face an offense like Bart Ball all season long.
I outlined my alternative sectional groupings in a few posts above. Please feel free to see the answer to your question there.
My "argument" was more to the statement of it being a no-brainer the way 6A shaked out, when I believe my scenario had some credibility to it as well. As @US31 states above, Patayto - Patahto 😊

Again... we can agree to disagree on the fact that it was "self-explanatory" 👍

Some thoughts
6A: North is pretty self-explanatory. Lafayette Jeff had to go northwest. Someone had to go northeast, and Noblesville is the farthest north/east school in Hamilton County.
We'll have to agree to disagree on the fact that it was "self-explanatory". While I'm just fine with the fact that Warsaw is not in Penn's sectional, the set-up could have very easily been:
Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Merrillville, Portage
Sectional 2: Chesterton, Penn, Valparaiso, Warsaw (Elkhart still replacing Valpo in 2020)
Sectional 3: FW Carroll, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Homestead
Sectional 4: Carmel, Lafayette Jefferson, Noblesville, Westfield
My thought process with sending HSE/Fishers up I-69 is their proximity to the highway. Yes, Noblesville is further north than both of those schools, but Fishers and HSE are boht quicker trips TIME wise FW Carroll and Homestead than Noblesville is. And you have a sectional of 4 schools with 2 schools both close to each other. Noblesville definitely got the shaft travel wise in 6A.

Posting this topic as one where users can make their guesses on what the new 6A sectional alignments will be. Here is what I would propose:
Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Merrillville, Portage
Sectional 2: Chesterton, Penn, Valparaiso, Warsaw
Sectional 3: FW Carroll, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Homestead
Sectional 4: Carmel, Lafayette Jefferson, Noblesville, Westfield
Sectional 5: Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, North Central, Warren Central
Sectional 6: Avon, Brownsburg, Pike, Zionsville
Sectional 7: Arsenal Tech, Ben Davis, Perry Meridian, Southport
Sectional 8: Center Grove, Columbus East, Columbus North, Franklin Central

Pretty close on my predictions and was accurate that Zionsville would be put in 6A south and had all the 6A south groupings correct. Just didn't predict they would send Jeff up I-65 to the region. Part of me still thinks you could have done something like this:
Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Merrillville, Portage
Sectional 2: Chesterton, Penn, Valparaiso, Warsaw (Elkhart still replacing Valpo in 2020)
Sectional 3: FW Carroll, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Homestead
Sectional 4: Carmel, Lafayette Jefferson, Noblesville, Westfield

When the IHSAA published its class assignments a few weeks ago, it published that Elkhart Central/Memorial will be 5A in 2019 and Elkhart will be 6A in 2020. Valpo will play one year as the smallest school in 6A and then replace Elkhart in 5A.
Thank you. @SBFootball1 clarified this for me in later posts.

@Coach Nowlin might need to do an update soon! Hard to stay away/out of the game

Wow... according to Mark Howe (sports writer for the Warsaw, Indiana newspaper Times-Union) tweeting out that former Warsaw head coach Phil Jensen is being introduced as the new head coach at Whitko High School. Congrats Coach Jensen!

@SBFootball1 Completely missed that on the original document! Thanks for pointing it out.

I dont understand what you are fighting here. According to the classifications distributed by the IHSAA, Elkhart schools will play 5A in 2019 and then 6A in 2020 with Valpo moving down. Not sure if you didnt see this or you are just against this?
I must have missed this. Can you please provide a link? Thank you @SBFootball1 !

This mayyyy not be the answer but it's worth noting. I live in Muncie and I think the answer might just be in semantics. Muncie South never "consolidated" with Central it just "closed". That point was made clear by admin. So I don't know if that had anything to do with it since those kids had the freedom to go anywhere they wanted right away. Muncie Central is now about the same size they were before the closure of South.
While that may be true NOW, Muncie Central literally jumped 64 spots in the enrollment rankings from the '13-'14 alignment to the '15-'16 alignment. So in the 2014 season (a mid-cycle year), they were a 4A school playing with a 5A enrollment.
My point is why do people think Elkhart is going to move from two 5A schools to 1 6A school mid-cylce in the 2020 football season? I don't see why they won't just play the 2020 season in 5A and then when the reclassification for 2021-2022 comes, they'll get moved up to 6A at that point.

I don't understand this... There has already been a precedent set. When Muncie South consolidated into Muncie Central "mid-cycle", Muncie Central stayed in their class the next season.
Am I missing something here? I don't anticipate the new Elkhart High School to be in class 6A until the 2021 football season.

1. Id like to see Bart Curtis shock the state and win a Class 6A title at Warsaw. Wouldn't that be a hoot?
Yes... yes it would. But I'll go ahead and just settle for the school's first ever sectional football championship. Baby steps DT, baby steps lol

*Unified Flag Football - and yes it is AWESOME that the IHSAA has adopted both Unified Track & Field and Flag Football for these athletes.

Adding something to this thread
Soon to be senior Kicker/Punter for the Warsaw Tigers Harrison Mevis has been busy this offseason. He received his first offer from Army and recently took visits to Purdue, Georgia, Missouri and Penn State. -
Will they have visitor side seating? My memory could be off, but I don't remember how much space they have on that side of the field as it butts up against Clinton Street.

Every Class got 10 votes for a total of 60. 12 votes went to other players and 1 coach did not vote.
Did we ever hear who got the other 12? I would assume Lindauer got some, especially from that 3A/4A mix, but that is just a hunch.
I was unable to find anything with exact amounts, but both Michael Lindauer of Evansville Memorial (3A) and Bronson Yoder of NorthWood (4A) were named among the top 4 finalist for Mr. Football and received votes. That is why you see some votes missing among the 3A, 4A and 5A totals posted above from what Kiser and Bell received in those respective classes. Lindauer and Yoder played a majority of their games against those size teams in areas where Kiser and Bell were probably never seen, especially those in the southwest corner of the state.

@HanShotFirst So have the 3 teams from the "South" been named? Ben Davis, Chatard and Bloomington South? So this would take Cathedral out of the running for the top 10. My guess:
1. Penn
2. Ben Davis
3. Carmel
4. FW Snider
5. Bloomington South
5. Chatard
7. Hobart
7. FW Dwenger
9. FW Luers
9. NorthWood
If neither Luers or NorthWood, my other guess would be Griffith, Lowell, West Lafayette, or Adams Central.

New Prairie and Jimtown to NLC.
Speaking purely from limited insider knowledge on this... I do not believe the NLC is all that interested in expanding past 8 teams at this time. There certainly isn't a need.

I second this, as well as adding to go with the boneless wings. Typically I enjoy bone-in wings, but the Hermanaki boneless are fantastic.

There will be "one" school operating under one number beginning in 2020-2021. There will only be one softball team for Elkhart, one swimming team, etc-that all begins that school year. The next year, 2021-2022, is when the merged campuses will officially open (grades 10-12 at current Memorial location, grade 9 at current Central location). There is only one more school year, 2019-2020, of Memorial and Central fielding their own teams.
22 hours ago, Indian72 said:SO what happens to Memorial athletics with Mishawaka joining the NLC in 20-21 I believe?
@Indian72 see @CoachMiller response. Memorial and Central athletics will merge starting the 2020-2021 season under the one Elkhart High School. There will be no disruption for Memorial athletics in 2020-2021 because there will not longer be a Memorial athletics department.
