  1. Only time I ever looked at a program was to get the name of the ejected player(s) for the report lol.
  2. Yes I believe he is just working with QB’s.
  3. Retired coaches have a lot to offer younger staffs. Rod Ballart has been at South Dearborn with his son Rand I think since he’s been there. Tyson Moore brought in Zimmerman and another older guy who’s name escapes me, been at Madison and BNL. He may still teach at BNL. Jeff Richey has worked with QB’s at Seymour (under Kelly), North, and now East. I’ve always maintained sports are about relationships, I filled in for a crew on Friday at South Dearborn, when Coach Ballart saw me he said I thought you retired, I said I did, I only took this game so I could see your old man.
  4. I ran across him at a couple of frosh or JV games a few years back. Said he was helping, his grandson was on the team. Time gets away from me, but I would guess in the last 4-6 years.
  5. A few years back, Stafford was on the staff at Triton Central coaching his grandson, is he still there?
  6. I had a salesman one time give me a Permian hat. The sales manager told me built a concrete vault to store it until he gave it to me. He’s a Midland Lee graduate.
  7. Listening to the post game in local radio last night, most telling stat I heard was offensive plays East 67 Seymour 43. East had a great game plan and executed perfectly, until Seymour got a stop. Big win for the Owls as far as their conference aspirations.
  8. No problem, I heard via the grapevine 1 O and 2 D with various injuries.
  9. @Frozen Tundra any word in JC missing three starters tonight?
  10. Particularly on my laundry room floor!
  11. Or you have younger guys learning new positions, etc. You may be surprised at what shows up on any given Friday night. Given the current state of affairs with regards to the official shortage. Throw together crews are starting to become the norm.
  12. Columbus East at Seymour Jeffersonville at Bedford NL Jennings County at New Albany Silver Creek at Floyd Central Columbus East’s dominance is still fresh in everyone’s mind, I still think there’s a stigma about playing East in the conference. I went with Seymour based on their ability to score points and CE’s lack of doing so. Granted CE has faced two significantly better D’s. JC at NA is another interesting matchup. JC seems to be enjoying a bit of a revival, but do they have the mindset they can win on the road in the conference? I’m going with they’re too young and dumb to understand all that, they’re 2-0 and feeling good about themselves. Looking forward to my first conference game as a spectator. I will admit it was somewhat odd sitting in the stands two weeks ago.
  13. Anyone have an injury report on SC? FC?
  14. I think they’ll do it, they know how I’ll deal with it, and I don’t think they want to deal with that either. In fairness I’ve never really had any issues at Seymour. They play at the HS and parents have to be in the stands. I’m more of the mindset you’re starting your AB with an 0-2 count.
  15. Working on putting a similar system in place here. I asked the local youth league leaders if I could be in charge of dealing with out of line parents and they said NO, we’ll handle that. OK, but rest assured if you don’t I will, you’re asking me to train HS kids, I’m not letting some idiot run them off.
  16. Two things: 1: I have been charged with traing a group of high schoolers to officiate youth Football games. Rule 2 is on the agenda for Wednesday night. Rule 2 for those who don’t know is titles “Definitions”. One of the items in Rule 2 worth noting is there is a definition for a “forward” pass and a “backward” pass but there is no definition for a “lateral”. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. 2. If the line to gain after the penalty enforcement is gained it will be 1st down. If the line to gain was not reached after enforcement it will be loss of down. So if the play happened on 3rd down it will now be 4th down. A new series can not start on any down other than 1st.
  17. My brother’s brother in law and sis-in-law, retired corporate lawyer and college department head from Chicago bought 400 acres in Brown County, built a ginormous house and currently live there. More to the point I was making earlier, that’s not a great game plan for athletic excellence. Plus the fact that I cringe every time I have to go thru there…..
  18. Central/East has a good mix with the current 8/frosh classes. All of course based on what I saw last year in MS. I’m not one that gets excited about youth players, but with QB’s they have some intangibles that can’t really be coached, easy to spot in MS. Last years 7th grade QB at Central is going to be a stud.
  19. I think the situation has stabilized a little but a revolving door in the AD’s office for several years hasn’t helped. BC faces similar issues to other single school counties. Granted huge tourism dollars, but no real industry that attracts people. Fair amount of vacation/summer homes most of the residents work in Columbus or Bloomington. BC has some history of success, but those days are a long ways in the rear view mirror.
  20. Congratulations to the Panthers! Athletic success starts at the top, great hire in Corey Stevens, he has a vision and is working diligently to move the athletic program forward. I’ve only met Coach Newton once, but my initial opinion is he’s a young man with a plan and he’s working hard. JC has long been the butt of jokes aside from being a sad story of rural decay in the US. Good for them, they finally are getting some of the pieces to fit together.
  21. BNL (0-1) at 5A #9/#10 Bloomington North (1-0) Brown County (0-1) at Jennings County (1-0) 3A #1 Christian Academy of Louisville (1-0) at New Albany (0-1) Columbus North (0-1) at Columbus East (0-1) Seymour (0-1) at Jeffersonville (0-1) Terre Haute South (0-1) at Floyd Central (0-1)
