  1. Appreciate your thoughtful response. I have been exposed to both worlds myself but I contend that the MOST lazy approach is pretend enrollment alone works and 9 times out of 10 it's all about student population homogeneity. It drives the disparity nationwide. Half the states in the union like multipliers and I am starting to lean that way...punitive, "reactive" systems seem barbaric to me....let's be proactive and get out in front of the disparity.
  2. I get letters from MD at the house and I don't have an issue with it and I as I have plastered all over this message board, I don't think that is the crux of the issue.
  3. You seem at least reasonably intelligent. Are you are really going to deny the difference in student populations and that it should merely be ignored and/or that it isn't a huge advantage in a enrollment only based system? To your earlier point, many family make this "sacrifice" based on educational opportunities.....that really doesn't matter at all. Whatever the reasons are it results in a completely different student population with drastically less deadweight. I am ok with all of that, but if we want the classes to be as close as we can get them to like for like.....this situation has to be accounted for. I think it says alot about the real motives of private parents who are staunchly against it.
  4. Student population...essentialy athletes per capita.
  5. Every private has an advantage if you classify by enrollment only.
  6. The huge advantage 1, 2 and 3A privates have has nothing to do with recruiting or transfers.
  7. Saw the E. St. Louis team in person at the Brownsburg team camp this summer.
  8. They can compete for sure...but there are less of them, so classification based on enrollment alone doesn't work.
  9. Just because you are good doesn't mean you aren't at a disadvantage. I would estimate GS at as high as 35% noneffective enrollment (guessing NP is similar)....I admit that data isn't very scientific (based on a poll of my 4 kids), but having this number exact doesn't really matter for the purposes of this conversation, the phenomena is real and catastrophically effects Indiana football and football across the country. Again, this is why about half the states in the union have a multiplier. I don't like the idea of putting privates in their own playoffs like many states have done....just need to get them on an even playing field.
  10. Great coverage here that will be memorialized for these kids!
  11. Final Sagarin numbers are in. Per tradition I have combined the SIAC and PAC and sorted by Predictor here: Here are the the teams sorted by Overall Rating:
  12. Cover zero…people are just different where ever you come from. You have no idea what I want…and what a bizarre statement. I also won’t lower myself to name calling like you have done. (Maybe a permanent nickname though 🤪) The Chatard kids and staff did a great job. Congrats to them on number 15, 16 or whatever it is. I have all the respect in the world for Chatard. I am embarrassed for our state association and the position they have put them in however.
  13. Well played….Cover 0. I here by declare, though the power vested in me by the state of Indiana, that from this day forward, “Just a Dad” shall be called “Cover 0”
  14. Please repost my “bashing of Chatard”. I bash the system.
  15. Well…congrats Lawrenceburg. I’m more impressed with your achievement….but that’s just me. edit: Great work and effort by the Chatard kids…not their fault the system stinks.
  16. Not a fan of LS.
  17. You will always remember this as the day that you almost caught Coach Mike Goebel!
  18. I’ve started a gofundme to buy the white hat a bigger “white hat”!
  19. Go win one Wildcats!
  20. I would like to see a multiplier…the problem is trying to determine the best math to arrive at a fair number. Half the states halve one, so there should be some great examples to investigate.
  21. Without a doubt.
  22. Fair share…seriously? If we received the same number of kids from those areas as we did last year every year for the next 20 years we wouldn’t even approach the number quality student athletes our local P&P friends have gleaned from local corporations in my day. But that doesn’t bother me…transfers aren’t an issue to me…neither is “recruiting”. The problem is enrollment alone doesn’t work when comparing grossly dissimilar student populations. We all know it…but beating up year after year on schools with less homogeneous student populations is fun isn’t it, intoxicating, even addicting. Why are some of you frightened of competing on an even playing field? If the paying field was even we wouldn’t have these punitive systems like the success factor. Eventually one convinces oneself of all kinds of reasons for the success other than the truth. P&Ps win a disproportionate amount of championships than their number of state association schools would indicate in basically every state in the union. That’s why states try to find equitable ways to offset the difference in student population types as opposed to enrollment alone. No reasonably intelligent person believes enrollment alone is fair. Even privately educated ones.
  23. My message has always been consistent and accurate. One shouldn’t be able to purchase an unfair advantage….but apparently feeling entitled to it can’t be stopped.
