The real trouble lies in the fact that this weekend's championship games for the most part are pointless.
IU and OSU will remain in the top four regardless of the outcome and getting out of the game healthy should be the main priority for both teams. While I know it'd mean a lot for the Hoosiers to win the B10 title, if the national title is the goal, you are one snap away from a travesty.
In the SEC, I think the committee has Bama in regardless of this weekend's result as you cannot, with a straight face, put Oklahoma and A&M in, while leaving the SEC championship game runner up, out.
Same in the ACC. Duke? Really? I have no clue how that tiebreaker worked out in their favor but what a cluster all of those 6-2 teams are.
Lastly, I rarely have sympathy for teams that lose 3 games but are you going to look 9-3 Texas (who has wins over Vandy and A&M) in the eye and tell them that they are not worthy because they challenged themselves in the non-conference traveling to Ohio State, instead of scheduling UTEP?
I know the new format makes more games matter and gives teams more margin for error, but this season, maybe the four team format would have been sufficient?
Mega conferences have created tremendously imbalanced schedules and sometimes the luck of the draw gives teams an advantage, or vice versa.
