Not sure, but he was a sub 10.5 guy in the 100 meter dash which is MOVING period, let alone for a guy with his body type. -

Watching with tempered optimism...I hate comparisons like this before a kid has taken a collegiate snap. -
You can do your own homework.

Why sure. Ethiopian/Kenyan distance runners hold over 90 percent of all middle/long distance world records. The last 25 world record holders in the 100 meter dash have been black.

Wasn't Jimmy Clausen also the chosen one? I'll never forget him showing up to announce his decision in a stretch limo... Eh...

Michigan is getting a beast of an RB THIS week. Sorry, had to correct you a little. Semantics. Donovan is enrolling at UM this week as he was waiting for his high school season to end. Hope he is the real deal. The Tyrone Wheatley comparisons have been showered in abundance... -
It is well publicized and there are many theories surrounding speed/athleticism as it relates to genetics. I'll spare you the research and statistics as your search engine is more than capable. I vaguely remember a "city speed" vs "county speed" debate that thrived on this message board for years and became an amusing talking point. Not sure what specifically was "out of bounds" about the locked threads and why we cannot have a civil discussion and remain respectful of one another. I will not be announcing my departure anytime soon like DT, but somebody has to carry the water. Let's have a civil discourse surrounding "genetics" as it relates to speed/athleticism without anyone pretending to get offended. I'll start. Why do those of East African descent dominate distance running? Why do those of West African descent dominate the 100/200 sprinting events at the World Championships/Olympics? Now, let's look at football...go.

I don't really have specifics. I can tell you that they have become more competitive with DC in recent years which is a step in the right direction. I could be stepping out of bounds here, but it has always seemed to me that Plainfield uses an "old school" approach when it comes to athletics. They take volunteers as opposed to seeking out the best if that makes sense. Let's take teachers in the building and gauge their interest in coaching (which there is absolutely nothing wrong with as the Quakers have a solid academic rotation). Problem is, that approach won't allow you to play with the big boys in today's climate.

Well, to be fair as long as Cathedral is in the way, Plainfield will have to pump the brakes. Decatur Central did climb that mountain a couple of years back despite having similar enrollment/facilities as Plainfield but over DOUBLE the free/reduced lunch rate, so it is possible. Plainfield needs to break through the DC barrier before even thinking about LOS.

Whoa.

Eh, I hate lists like this because they fail to account for so many things that make eras difficult to compare. This particular one lost me at Babe Ruth. Dude got drunk and ate hot dogs between double headers...

Hence the term "team." Phelps and Federer are not eligible. I agree that it is up for debate but worth discussing, which is the reason I posed the question. You could make a solid argument that he has accomplished THE MOST in a team sport at THE MOST important position...in over a two decade span.
-
Folks from Bradshaw's era usually point to the fact that the QB position is protected and easier these days than it was pre 2000 and there is some validity to it. Nearly every rule in football these days has been built to give the offense an advantage that the 70s and 80s quarterbacks did not have. Pass interference comes to mind among a few others. That being said, anyone who tries to make the argument against Brady as the greatest of all time at this point is simply letting their bias get in the way...there is no other way around it.
-
The goal posts must now move from "Is Tom Brady the greatest NFL QB of all-time" to "Is Tom Brady the greatest male team sport athlete of all time." I think a case could be made.

Edwards delivered. 14 carries, 257 yards and 3 TDs...without stepping on the field in the 4th quarter. -
I'd argue that Marion County schools ARE staying the same if not declining (I know that some of the folks on this board will rush to their defense and pretend they are outraged by this statement). I've been saying this for a couple of years now. At no time in the previous two decades were Avon, Brownsburg, Zionsville, New Palestine, Whiteland, Mount Vernon, HSE, Fishers and Westfield legitimate LONG TERM ANNUAL threats to the Marion County schools. They popped up every once in a while with a stellar group but then returned to earth and rebuilt for another run. Warren and Ben Davis' demise was slightly exaggerated by a couple of folks (including myself) on this board but I will remain steadfast that they are simply where they are at this point due to enrollment advantages and the culture of football at their buildings. We will never see a team at either school that rivals Warren's 2006 or BD's 2017 team again. Kids want to see the field and will head to Avon or Brownsburg instead of "waiting their turn" at BD. I could see similar happenings at WC as it relates to Franklin Central in the coming years. Population trends/demographics are shifting and the talent is much more spread out in central Indiana. Not just at the 6A level. I have been hearing about Carroll and Homestead "gearing up" and gaining momentum for years now but they have fallen flat on their face when given the opportunity. Snider will be able to compete in 5A but no one in central Indiana views them as a threat in 6A. Maybe they get (or already have) a good group coming down the pipeline but they'll never be a consistent threat when you look at the enrollment in 6A combined with their SES. Tee off on me. I can handle it.

This is your classic "news dump" when all eyes have shifted to the NFL and college basketball.

I think its hilarious that many of the violations included here are minor and result in "probation" yet anyone with a brain knows what happens in the southeast and it largely goes unnoticed. Let's see how the Tennessee investigation pans out, if LSU's "self-imposed bowl ban" (during a sub .500 season) is deemed enough, and how the whispers that are beginning at Georgia are handled in the coming months...

Interesting timing...
