  1. Good article from CBS sports about Cignetti. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/curt-cignetti-doesnt-have-to-leave-indiana-to-reach-college-footballs-top-tier-hes-already-there/?fbclid=IwZnRzaANbXuVleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHqKsUc1PUs7WYr58bal3rOiXsTKI-xUnHGDWS8n3gGwP2dEn6nyib3DV9gsT_aem_VIYe-i2Fq90r0S6xaLv9SA
  2. I didn't see that comment made, but since you bring it up, some questions for you? Was IU basketball really considered a blue blood before Bobby Knight? (yes, i am aware they won 2 titles, and had some success under McCracken) Was Duke basketball considered a blue blood before Coack K? Was USC football a blue blood before John McKay? Was Ohio State football a blue blood before Woody? What kind of success did Wisconsin football have before Alvarez? Maybe Cignetti knows he can build something great vs going somewhere that while has a heritage for football, hasn't exactly been sunshine and rainbows in Happy Valley over the past number of years.
  3. Not kind to the Maize and Blue
  4. Hope you didn’t wager Coach!! Off a little off that call.
  5. I agree with your Saban comment 100%. Cignetti would as well.
  6. Cig was an assistant for Saban. He would not put himself in Saban’s class. Give the guy a break though…it’s year 2 at Indiana and he’s set history there for success. Put up or shut up? Give me a break. What’s he’s already done at IU is incredible and unlike a Lanning or Day, he didn’t inherit a Porsche. He’s worked his way up from Div 2 and won at every level.
  7. I don't disagree on the law of diminishing return theory. The comments always seem to go to Carmel and their massive population. I get it. But people are also not acknowledging that Carmel has struggled the last 5 years. They haven't won a sectional in that period and have lost to schools much smaller. Numbers are part of the story....but hardly the entire story. I'd take a great coach and a great feeder system with Westfield numbers any day of the week.
  8. I am not disagreeing....I'm confused. Simply pointing out that numbers don't guarantee success or Carmel would have been much stronger over the past 5 years. They had difficulty in getting out of their sectional. Other large Indy schools have had recent challenges and some programs such as Lake Central (large school) has never had much gridiron success. Same for North Central in Indy. Penn, formerly a dominant program, is not having the success they had in their former glory days. No knock on Carmel this season at all by me. They look really strong. We agree.
  9. no tee off....no emotions I am sure you have examples that support your theory. And we all have examples of "more wealthier" communities having outstanding football and other more "grittier" sports such as wrestling. Coach Moore during his Florida days coached in a more challenged income area and I think he might align with you to a certain degree. (my opinion only)
  10. Not saying they are not different this year. They look very good. But if success was based on numbers alone, they would have been a power the last 4-5 years and that hasn't been the case. Same for some other large schools.
  11. Thanks coach...I assume Booker's knee injury was a sprain? Man, that young man has beefed up...he is a man.
  12. I didn't look at all the sports....so is a sectional title the only way you determine success? If combined and they won a few more sectional titles, would that outweigh the lost opportunities for kids to participate...especially as you mentioned in economically challenged area? More kids on the sofa or on the streets worth the "possible" few added wins? If Perry Township ever decided to combine the high schools, winning sectionals wouldn't be the driver. It would be economics.
  13. I don't know Temp....Southport won a sectional and regional championship in boy's soccer last year. Perry sectional runner up in boys wrestling. Southport 3rd in boys track sectional. Southport runner up in girls volleyball sectional. IHSAA keeps all the results....feel free to go check. Not sarcastic Temp...just bored. Don't align with you on merging the 2 Perry schools into a school of 5000....only because it takes away opportunities for kids to participate. You don't have to agree...I don't care if you do or don't.
  14. Perry and Southport hold their own in various other sports...Its not always just about football. Let the kids play. Besides...if I follow your formula...too many free lunches for them sustain excellence on the gridiron. I just wonder when it will penetrate into your noggin, that one isn't triggered simply because they don't align with 100% of your views. Put the ego away...its not personal.
  15. I think mega schools of 5000 is just a great idea for the kids......😑
  16. I think its actually 0-11 now.... Isn't Coach N a big time Swiftie with his girls?? Coach, you may be facing a crossroads.......
  17. it is efficient....just over 7 yds a completion. Keep the chains moving with this type of attack. Wonder if Dickens can teach AR how to throw an accurate 6-8 yd pass??
  18. Shouldn’t make light of this but…..
  19. Oh he will certainly change it assuming he is there for the long haul. Will absolutely make that a priority. But not much he can do about what has already been lost during the past few years...other than develop from what he has and/or look outside.
  20. now that is an interesting question......
  21. Never said enrollment wasn't a factor. I promise you programs like Westfield and Center Grove don't battle the Hounds defeated mentally before the game starts knowing their are close to 50% of Carmel's enrollment. And those schools more than hold their own against the Greyhounds. While Wright is an outstanding coach, he is inherting some current talent...no doubt. But another factor to success you never mention is the school's feeder program. Carmel's has been down for a few years now....overall numbers are down as is their success that used to be taken for granted. So Wright may be facing some future challenges...unless he can find some transfers.
  22. 100% agree...as you know, they used to play their game last game of the season...neither had nothing to play for as they were heading into the playoffs. Yet both teams would play this game like it was for the state title. Just shows one the respect each team has for each other's programs.
  23. Colts kicker out for the season according to ESPN https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46510667/colts-spencer-shrader-suffers-potentially-serious-knee-injury
