Personally, I think Memorial and Castle would beat Linton regularly, but Linton isn't in Sectional 40. MD has beaten Linton handedly 3 of the last 4 years. Unless there is weather (like last year) I like MD's chances because Linton plays a pretty soft schedule and just doesn't get challenged week to week like MD does.

@SISN Welcome aboard. The more the merrier on the GID. Any ranking system that would have any team in Sectional 40 with the exception of Mater Dei and any 1A school ahead of 4A (SF) Memorial and 5A Castle needs some serious tweaking. In any event, I'd be interested to see the supporting data.

Maybe one day Memorial and Castle can elevate their programs enough so they too can included with powerhouses such as North Decatur, North Posey, Perry Central, Tecumseh and Paoli. Whoever created this list really needs to call his proctologist and schedule a cranial removal.

With so many SIAC teams, this Sectional is somewhat anti-climatic to me. I always enjoyed seeing new teams in the post-season when we were in 3A. Although it would be a tough, tough path, I hope we get to play Boonville in Round 1 to give us a new opponent, and then Jasper and Reitz again to see if we can get different outcomes than the first time around.

Did Memorial's 7th grade play you? I know they have struggled to get games at times too. I think we are playing MD again this Thursday.

In Evansville, a transfer with full eligibility appears to be much easier if it is from one EVSC school to another. I have not looked at rosters from prior years compared to this year, but I have heard a lot of talk that other students (in addition to Davies) transferred to Reitz from other EVSC schools. It would have been interesting for the article to have pointed out all the transfers and if they all involved changes of residence. Hence my characterization of the article as cursory. To be clear, I fully support the notion that a student should be able to transfer to and from whatever school they want and think the IHSAA has no business telling a family their kid can't fully participate if they decide another school is a better fit. But each case should be treated fairly. It wouldn't take Woodward & Bernstein to see that in the Rode case something else was going on and drill down on it a little bit. But, as you say, maybe they were afraid of making someone mad. Don't know the totals, but VL had a KOR for TD and one or two others for good yards.

I haven't seen VL on film so I don't know much of anything. He seems to be a thinner version of Vera, right? I don't think this will be a fun week of practice for the Tigers. Reitz is good but we had a some critical mistakes. Our QB continues to impress me. I'll admit I was skeptical at first, but now in hindsight I wish we had started him from Wk.1. He may have been able to keep us in the first games on his athletic ability alone. Its a new week so I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond, but mostly excited to just see a different field for a change. It is behind a paywall, but it is a somewhat cursory look at the issue anyway. Doesn't mention all the transfers that took place (only Herdes, Davies and Rode). Pretty sure there was more than just Davies who transferred to Reitz from other EVSC schools. Mentions that Herdes moved and Rode had to file a lawsuit, but not whether any of the others moved or just got waivers since they were EVSC to EVSC.

And that will eventually be Reitz's downfall, but congrats to them on the City and SIAC titles. No question the Panthers are a much better team with Vera at QB. He is a very versatile athlete.
