  1. Yep, there's a few of us p/p folks around. But DT, I think it is the COVID-19. Fewer people can attend games. Fewer people are invested week to week. Fewer people connected. Fewer people discussing things online. Down here in SW IN, add to the COVID issue that we've also lost some good post-season rivalries due to success factor (Gibson Southern & Memorial, Southridge & Mater Dei) and it makes things exciting.
  2. My SIAC prediction: 1. Central 9-0 T2. North, Jasper, Memorial 6-3 5. Castle 5-3 6. Mater Dei 5-4 T7. Reitz & Vincennes Lincoln 3-6 9. Bosse 1-7 10. Harrison 0-9
  3. A few lines for potential tournament match ups (PAC v. SIAC) based on current Sagarin numbers : Sectional 24 Boonville -3 vs. Central Boonville -16 vs. Jasper Boonville -23 vs. Memorial Sectional 30 Princeton -4.5 vs. Lincoln Washington vs. Vin. Lincoln -3 Sectional 40 Tell City -28 vs. Mater Dei Forest Park -7 vs. Mater Dei North Posey -3 vs. Mater Dei If any of those match-ups get drawn out tomorrow night and someone wants the PAC team, please send me a DM.
  4. It is off because the SIAC has no non-conference games. Every team is skewed low.
  5. North has lost 2 consecutive games to two teams that had a combined 3 wins going into the game(s). Lincoln had beaten Harrison and Bosse and MD had beaten Lincoln. It's a head scratcher to me. I agree with Spitting Llama that Jasper should handle North without a whole lot of trouble. I was high on North early, but they need to win to stop the descent. I have to think GS would have a tough time against Jasper, who has played a tougher schedule thus far. I'm not sold on Tell City, but I haven't seen them so I'll give them props for their record and the close game with Southridge. GS's only quality win of the year was Boonville by 1 score. Not sure how MD can be ahead of Memorial, who won the head-to-head match-up in Wk. 4 and also throttled Reitz Friday night by close to the same margin as Central did a few weeks earlier. Rather than just critique, I'll throw out my list: 1. Central 2. Southridge 3. Castle 4. Jasper 5. Tell City 6. North T7. Gibson Southern & Memorial (would love to see a full-crowd S32 match-up this year) 9. Mater Dei 10. Lincoln
  6. Torjon has spent some time in the local courts. Domestic battery, possession, etc. it's public record....
  7. Yep, I missed that Cappy... What I heard at the water cooler....
  8. Without question, the "no fans" rule has really sucked the life out of Friday nights. Games are dead with no student sections. Good team or not, we could always count on a large tailgate of parents and fans every week. We had more fans at tailgates than are now allowed in the stadium. I agree, I really don't see any SIAC team making much noise in the tournament. IMO MD is the team with the best chance. It's likely them or Tell City in S40. Central is the favorite in S24, but I don't think they have the team to get past Mooresville or East Central as TigerFan20 says. Who knows about North or Castle in 5A. The QB is likely going to be out for a while. Castle seems pretty one-dimensional. Bosse has zero shot in S32. Lincoln might win S30, but then they run into Lawrenceburg. I could see maybe 3 Sectional champs, 0-1 Regional champs. I think the local team most likely to go deep is Southridge. I would have said GS early on, but their D is going to have to improve.
  9. I heard it was a mix of frosh & JV for Reitz, but either way, that's a nice W. I too have heard the Reitz frosh class is very good.
  10. I would still take MD over TC, but don't oversell their win against North. The only SIAC team that could withstand the loss of their starting QB at the last minute might be Central, and that's only because they really don't ask their QB to do much besides hand the ball to a RB. North might be okay this week without the QB, but they will struggle in the last two games if the QB is not able to return.
  11. Me too. It's been quite a few years since we've played there (2011).
  12. Yes, that might change the defensive game plan a little, although Boberg is also very good and can still fill the role of the bruising FB.
  13. Memorial is the home team. Both have lots of talent. Central has the bruising FB Madison (who looks like a completely different player now than when he was at Bosse). Central has a brash attitude and can get themselves into problems with penalties at times. Sadly, I don't think anyone has maintained the site in several years. A guy from Castle took over after PN but he retired from Castle a few years ago. I think Jasper will immediately jump into the top 4 on an annual basis. For the last 20 years it has been Castle and Memorial fighting for #1, MD at #3, and then the rest.
  14. Don't mean to pile on, but I kind of agree. I also thought MD had a puncher's chance of beating Jasper last week too. I'm wrong a lot.
  15. That's what the diagram sent out by the AD today shows.
  16. I believe the correct phrase now is "and a cloud of pulverized cryogenic rubber."... LOL. This week I'll take: Castle over Reitz 27-13. Still haven't seen Reitz so I don't know what to make of them. Lincoln over Harrison 31-12. Lincoln should have no problem. North over Mater Dei 28-14. Presswood will be too much for MD. Central over Jasper 38-7. I just don't see Jasper being able to hang around. Central will want to prove they can't. I could see it being close, then zip, zip, gone... Memorial over Bosse 44-13. The 102nd meeting. Coach Hurley might be a little more surly this week as the Tigers are hosting Bosse at Enlow from the visitor's side, and we were all so looking forward to seeing the new potties...
  17. When I listen to WITZ’s broadcast I always think Walt and the other guy should do Springfield Isotope games on the Simpsons.
  18. Oh THAT Memorial guy! LOL. I have never heard anyone do that and it could very well impact a team that makes adjustments at the line. I thought the rule was that all music and PA chatter must stop once the ball is blown in for play.
  19. @South Paw. Not sure what I did there but... Are you saying the current Castle seniors played Memorial twice as freshman? If so, that can't be right because we did not field a frosh team in 2017. All freshman played JV that year. If you are saying they played them twice in middle school (and kicked the crap out of them), then I'll buy that because the current Memorial seniors have been low on numbers and didn't win any games in 7th grade and maybe 2 in 8th grade. I was there in their 7th grade year and it was brutal.
  20. Interesting that St. X has new OC Andrew Coverdale. Is that the same guy who replaced John Lidy at Castle and left after 3 years? As I recall, the main issue was his use of 2 words no Castle person wanted to hear in the early 2000s: “passing game”....
  21. I don't know about LC or CP, but Castle has a very competitive athletic program overall.
  22. The one I remember was the QB Moore who quit football prior to his senior year for golf.
