  1. Yes, that might change the defensive game plan a little, although Boberg is also very good and can still fill the role of the bruising FB.
  2. Memorial is the home team. Both have lots of talent. Central has the bruising FB Madison (who looks like a completely different player now than when he was at Bosse). Central has a brash attitude and can get themselves into problems with penalties at times. Sadly, I don't think anyone has maintained the site in several years. A guy from Castle took over after PN but he retired from Castle a few years ago. I think Jasper will immediately jump into the top 4 on an annual basis. For the last 20 years it has been Castle and Memorial fighting for #1, MD at #3, and then the rest.
  3. Don't mean to pile on, but I kind of agree. I also thought MD had a puncher's chance of beating Jasper last week too. I'm wrong a lot.
  4. That's what the diagram sent out by the AD today shows.
  5. Edit: 103rd meeting.
  6. I believe the correct phrase now is "and a cloud of pulverized cryogenic rubber."... LOL. This week I'll take: Castle over Reitz 27-13. Still haven't seen Reitz so I don't know what to make of them. Lincoln over Harrison 31-12. Lincoln should have no problem. North over Mater Dei 28-14. Presswood will be too much for MD. Central over Jasper 38-7. I just don't see Jasper being able to hang around. Central will want to prove they can't. I could see it being close, then zip, zip, gone... Memorial over Bosse 44-13. The 102nd meeting. Coach Hurley might be a little more surly this week as the Tigers are hosting Bosse at Enlow from the visitor's side, and we were all so looking forward to seeing the new potties...
  7. When I listen to WITZ’s broadcast I always think Walt and the other guy should do Springfield Isotope games on the Simpsons.
  8. Oh THAT Memorial guy! LOL. I have never heard anyone do that and it could very well impact a team that makes adjustments at the line. I thought the rule was that all music and PA chatter must stop once the ball is blown in for play.
  9. @South Paw. Not sure what I did there but... Are you saying the current Castle seniors played Memorial twice as freshman? If so, that can't be right because we did not field a frosh team in 2017. All freshman played JV that year. If you are saying they played them twice in middle school (and kicked the crap out of them), then I'll buy that because the current Memorial seniors have been low on numbers and didn't win any games in 7th grade and maybe 2 in 8th grade. I was there in their 7th grade year and it was brutal.
  10. Interesting that St. X has new OC Andrew Coverdale. Is that the same guy who replaced John Lidy at Castle and left after 3 years? As I recall, the main issue was his use of 2 words no Castle person wanted to hear in the early 2000s: “passing game”....
  11. I don't know about LC or CP, but Castle has a very competitive athletic program overall.
  12. The one I remember was the QB Moore who quit football prior to his senior year for golf.
  13. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t last year the first time SR got bumped up?
  14. That is really surprising. A few years when I coached our 7th grade team I know counted 40+ on the other sideline. Current enrollments are in the 240 - 280 range in each grade at both middle schools. With those numbers, I don't understand why they can't get enough kids out to field separate teams for each middle school. That was before the concussion stuff when crazy, but I wouldn't think that alone would be the cause. Certainly a contributing factor though.
  15. They have 2 middle schools (North & South). Not sure if they still have 7th & 8th grade teams at both or not though. They did from 2009-2015 when I was involved for Memorial at that level and often had 40+ on each squad.
  16. If MD has gone south, then there are a lot of other local teams that probably wish they had a seat on that bus.
  17. I think we might learn some things this week. MD @ Jasper, GS @ Southridge & Lincoln @ Castle. I could see the road teams winning each of those, which if it happens might mean we have 2 really good teams (Central & North) who would probably beat everyone else 9 out of 10 times, and a bunch of other teams that might split with each other if they played 10 times.
  18. I would not want to be Jasper this week. It was pretty obvious Coach Goebel peeled some paint at halftime Friday night as they came out looking like a different team. A late redzone fumble killed the comeback. I'm guessing this will not be a fun week on Harmony Way and MD will be ready to run through a wall Friday night. I think MD just might win the Wildcat fight. An MD upset and a tough 3 week stretch on the road could have Jasper at 4-4 going into Wk. 9. Call me crazy but I kinda like Lincoln this week. It's kind of an SIAC gut-check time for them. Castle played really well in Wk. 1, then didn't look all that good MD in a Wk. 2 kicker battle, and have had a screwy 2 weeks since then. Central will beat Reitz with a running clock. Reitz is the only team I haven't seen on film, so I'm just not sure what to make of them yet. Memorial should get the win against Harrison, but it will be a closer game than what some might think. North will beat Bosse with a running clock.
  19. Could not edit. Meant Cape Presswood ...
  20. Too much Bro culture in this thread.
  21. IMO Capehart from North is the best player in the SIAC. Wait till you see him. We’ve played the top 3 teams and IMO North is #1. SIAC is tough almost every week.
  22. Not “regular” TV. Web based stuff.
  23. No, you know what I mean....LOL.
