LOL.. Masks, mail, red meat . . . what isn't political these days? As to my own school, it was a little frustrating (and slightly embarrassing) to see that we had a few fans in the bleachers who took their masks off. Wearing a mask really isn't that bad for a couple of hours. If nothing else, it shows the players that the parents and fans respect their efforts (and that of the coaches) over the last 6 weeks to at least put us in the best position to be able to play on Friday nights.

I don't know how old he is or how long Coach Hart was at Mt. Carmel, IL, but he came to Reitz in 2003, then to Warren Central in 2008, then in 2012 back to IL for a 4 yr stretch at Huntley, then to Brownsburg in 2016.

Central is the SIAC team to beat in 2020.

Memorial at Castle. Officials wore masks. Both sides of fans did pretty well. Some took their masks off but overall I’d say B+.

Yep. I'm just spit-balling, but if COVID restrictions start to ease up and stadiums can bring in more fans, then I think it is more likely we see a "normal" tournament. If not, then the IHSAA has less incentive to conduct the tournament. They makes their football money in 3 weekends - Regional, Semi-State & State. If the fans are limited to 250/500/750 at game, then the IHSAA isn't going to make enough to justify doing it.

I don't think the IHSAA is going to pull anything until tournament time rolls around. They have left decisions to local officials and local officials are working hard to get things in place.

Yes. In July, the EVSC announced they were pushing their start date to 8/19 due to rising numbers in the community. The Catholic schools started back up last week as scheduled. I have not heard of any issues at Memorial so far. Mater Dei had to cancel Mon-Wed practices but as the article says, the results were false positives and they are now cleared to get back after it. C'est la vie...

It will be interesting to see how things shake out once the EVSC returns to class.

Dan Egierski is having Andy Owen on the radio show today. Should be interesting to hear what he has to say.

Just guessing, but I suspect the cost of bringing in enough portable loos will offset any revenue. The whole situation is just crappy if you ask me...

And on the topic of intra-EVSC transfers... It's another factor that makes the rebuilds at Harrison and Bosse such a challenge. If a great player wants to get away from a struggling program and move to a more successful one, he will find a way.

I want to make sure this post isn't perceived to be a slight against Coach Brunson. It wasn't. I don't know this, but I suspect part of the reason he left Harrison for Mt. Vernon after back-to-back winning seasons was the stark reality of the situation at Harrison. It just isn't the same school it was in the 1980s and 1990s, when the Warriors competed for SIAC championships in a lot of sports. You take out the 17 wins Harrison had in 2015 & 2016 and there only about 20 wins over a 15 year span. It will take a monumental effort and a very patient & dedicated coach to rebuild that program. Madison moving from Bosse to Central is big. He and Boberg will create problems for opponents.

His team that won a sectional was made up of a lot of players who transferred from North, Bosse and Memorial. Before that it was 4 wins in 2 years and 2 were against West Vigo. It wasn’t as if he grew the program organically or pulled a bunch of kids from the hallways. Reitz has more kids that care about tradition and football than Harrison.

So what I'm hearing... a talented Bosse LB transferred to Central... Bosse's junior QB was coming to Memorial but is obviously back at Bosse as he's the focus of their Courier pre-view article... Memorial picked up a nice RB/LB who will be a very nice addition. I challenge any of you to beat the summer beard of Memorial QB Colton Pence... Photo from Evansville Courier.
