Mayor Nowlin - Now is the time to make the PBS-type pledge drive comment... "If you enjoy this show, please consider becoming a booster so that WGID can continue to provide you and your family with this and other quality programs.." -
Actually, I would say better from top to bottom than last year. Last year it was just Memorial and Central for the most part. This year Memorial, Central, Mater Dei & Castle were the top 4, then North & Reitz. Bosse was better. Harrison was the only guaranteed win IMO. Mooresville is bigger than anyone in SIAC. They are also athletic. Central is probably more explosive than Mooresville, but they aren't as big.

Only seen a few threads in the past where players have gotten on GID. It usually makes for some very humorous comments. I'm pretty sure no Memorial person posting on here who has seen films thinks the Pioneers are the underdog. I've watched each film we have several times and there is no question Mooresville is the best team we've faced all year. We will have our hands full and are going to have to be perfect just to have a chance. If you have time before the game, stop by our tailgate in the east lot. I always enjoy meeting fans from the other teams. Just ask for Tango... LOL.. Might even have a little something to warm you up before you head in.....

You lost me. Ah yes, fried chicken. Always on the pregame meal along with nachos and milkshakes... LOL -
In the Catholic schools? I don't think so.... My daughter teaches at St. Teresa Little Flower in Indy and she makes more than what she would down here (by a teeny bit)… MD and Memorial would be 1 combined school of 500 if our tuitions were that high. No way to survive..

Thank you ST Clown. Good luck to your Orange Tigers too. Hated that we never got to drink any Tiger BLs together. This game should be a great one... Patriots are a tough team. But so are your Tigers... -

Are you saying that based on seeing EC on film? -
Nobody gets that kind of number down here. We are $6,000 including all fees. That might be what it runs up in Indy. It has been a while since I looked at their numbers..

Which means $1,500 max for lodging. No food. I believe Southridge and Memorial stayed at the same hotel in 2017, right? -

Maybe they did, but from what MDAlum82 posted yesterday, the message from MD's AD seems to convey a mild level of surprise (at least to me) meaning the "we just learned..." part.. No question. And I for one fully expect MD to do that come Saturday... -

No. Be it far from me to characterize any decision of the fine folks at the IHSAA as snarky. LOL. I get why the IHSAA uses the schedule of 1/3/5 & 2/4/6 (alternating days as they do). I'm not even complaining about that. It does, however, put an added burden on teams in the smaller classes who have considerable drives. Bringing a football team, coaching staff, team support, etc. involves unique logistics. You can't just drop into a Subway off the interstate and feed that many people at once and the time to get into LOS and get to the locker room, etc. is a longer process than earlier rounds. -

I don't think I've used the term "bush league". In 2008 & 2009 we played the early game as the 3A school (1A & 2A were on Friday night and there was no 6A). In 2017 & 2018 we played at 2:30 CST, which was the second game of the day in both cases. We could have driven up in the morning the last 2 years, but a long bus ride takes its toll and lack of proper place to have pregame meal for a group of 80+ is a logistical challenge. Be it far from me to characterize any decision of the fine folks at the IHSAA as "bush." -
This post in not in any way meant to suggest I am taking a win for granted this week bc I'm not. We will have our hands very full with Mooresville and they look very good. BUT, if we happen to win this week, my fear is that (much like in 2008 and 2009 against very physical Chatard teams) the physical toll this game will likely take and our lack of depth would make winning the next week a big challenge. I am pulling for Mt.V so that the game would be at Enlow, at least according to Mr. Harrell.

If MD makes LOS, I would bet good money they will go up the night before. We did in 2017 and 2018. When you are 3 hours away and playing the early game, it is almost impossible to go up the day of the state game. -
I can tell you from personal experience that: Declining enrollment causes program cut-backs and less academic offerings. It also causes higher tuition, which in turn causes more people to choose the free options. It's a vicious circle, not win-win. For a school that has to travel overnight for state (typically schools outside of central IN and typically smaller classes who play early on Friday & Saturday, making state is a big financial drain. For us, we had to raise a good chunk of money with private donors to help cover costs because the IHSAA reimburses a very small amount of the actual cost of travel, lodging, & food. Our enrollment at Memorial has declined significantly in the past 3 years (-200 students) in part due to tuition costs and competition from a nationally ranked charter school and good public schools , all of which are free. In the past 3 years we have several state title appearances - football, boys soccer, and girls soccer (including winning state in all 3 in 2017), and had tournament success in baseball, b/g basketball, volleyball other non-revenue sports (tennis, golf, etc.). So, while we have arguably had the best overall HS athletic program in the area for a number of years (5A Castle is also very good overall), it hasn't led to an influx of new students coming in. In Evansville, MD and Memorial are fighting for their lives.

Visiting team picks the day. Home team picks the time. This could the kind of snarky decision that comes back to bite TC. MD doesn't need any extra motivation. They are always a very motivated team who will play hard for 48 minutes no matter the opponent or the score, but it is certainly the kind of thing that Coach Goebel can use to get ticked off more than usual... As an example, when we played Lawrenceburg in 2018 in Regional, we picked 4pm. It's a courtesy thing IMO. We shall see... -

I mean no disrespect to Triton Central, but I just don't see this being all that close. I realize common opponent match-ups can be misleading, but TC lost to Indian Creek by 8 and MD flat-out pounded Indian Creek in a running clock game that was never even close. I really expected IC to give MD a game. With what MD has done the last 2 weeks to 2 good 2A teams, what does TC do? How do they stack up to Linton and North Knox? -
But look at the hat Lysander wears!

Nah, it's a relatively short 2.5 hour drive. Jump on 37 South, take I-69 South from Bloomington. Easy peasy. Several teams have made a longer Friday night trip over the years... Some tips for the Mooresville fans who are making the trip down for the game... First and foremost (and very important), Enlow Field is on the campus of Bosse HS, not Memorial HS. Bosse's campus sits at the corner of Highway 41 and Washington Avenue. Also, Enlow Field is not the same as Bosse Field. If you are using Google maps or Siri, use "Bosse HS", not "Bosse Field". If the directions take you anywhere but the area near the intersection of Highway 41 and Washington Avenue, you have something wrong. Bosse HS sits in a residential area, so there isn't a whole lot of parking at Enlow. There is a parking lot west of the stadium, which is accessed from Washington Avenue. That lot is on the home side, so you'll have to walk around the outside of the stadium to get to the visitor entrance on the east side (not a big deal). There is also a lot east of Bosse HS, which is also most easily accessed from Washington Avenue and Lodge Avenue. You can also park in the residential neighborhoods north of Bosse HS. The east lot will start filling up with Memorial tailgaters by 4pm or so. There will also be a lot of gatherings at houses along College Highway, which runs into Enlow from the north side. As a result, close parking will be tough to come by unless you get there early or use the west lot. For dining, every chain restaurant known to man is squeezed into the 1 mile strip on the far east side area of Evansville between I-69 and Burkart Road along Highway 62 (that we refer to as Lloyd Expressway). After you eat, take the Lloyd W to Highway 41 S and the stadium is just a few stoplights away on your left. Turn left onto Washington Avenue and you have arrived. Enlow has plenty of visitor seating. It's a unique old stadium - one of a kind in Indiana. Or better yet, skip the chains and come tailgate with us Memorial folks. We like to have a good time and we'll have plenty of food. Safe travels. Be alert for deer on I-69. Love is in the air so they are on the move...
