They also both played Princeton and had blow-out wins. Maybe that is where SOS comes into play? Jasper's 54.65 puts them at 88 and GS's 30.53 puts them at 220. I think there are 3 teams in the top tier (Central, Memorial & HH), 5 in the second tier (Castle, MD, Southridge, Jasper & GS) and then the rest. Linton is too far removed to be able to accurately rank IMO.

Sunny, 93 & humid down here in SW IN.

I can't speak to the others, but Brownstown Central is a team I was nervous about last year simply because we don't see any shotgun wing T so preparing is always a challenge. They are well-coached, tough, and do what they do very well.
-
MD is around 500 and Memorial is 600.

Central is the favorite to take the SIAC. It looks like they have the right pieces in the right places now. Memorial better not be looking ahead to Central or else Reitz could get them this week. Memorial's D is playing very well but the O needs to execute better, particularly the WRs, who have dropped several easy TD balls the past 2 weeks that made close games out of games that shouldn't have been all that close. I see MD at Castle being the game of the week. This will be MD's first game away from the Bowl this season so the adjustment to good field lighting may be an issue. North at Bosse could also be a good game. Bosse's QB was injured Friday so I'm not sure if he will be back.

Bosse should not be overlooked. They have a very good LB group, good size on the D line, and a secondary with speed and athleticism. And remember, last year they took undefeated Boonville to the wire in the Sectionals only to lose by 7 (42-35). We had some drops early that cost us TDs, but they played very tough for 4 Qs. -
Good. I thought it was just me last week.

I thought he was OOB when I first saw the clip. Seeing that he was in-bounds, I think the initial reactions (including mine) were over-reactions to some extent. It also sounded bad - like 2 Corvettes hitting head-on. I suppose it a teaching moment and BA will get OOB in the future... -

A lot of games to be played. I expect Reitz to get things turned around before sectional. Central is a very good team. Jasper seems to be improving. Sectional 24 will be tough. Depth and health will be an issue for us. We have a very small junior class, so a lot of younglings are getting significant time. -

Look at the schools in sectionals 30, 31 & 32 on a map. Somebody did the alignment after a few bong hits... -

We've had some former "specialists" give football a try at the MS/frosh level this year and they are having a lot of success. IMO it is (in large part) due to the fact that we had some high profile football stars also lead the basketball and baseball teams to sectional titles. It continually amazes me that 99% of the sports world agrees that specialization is not good, yet parents still think their kid is "different". smh.... -

It doesn't. It is all about fighting "specialization", fall baseball, travel soccer, and retaining the kids who come out. -

I agree. Arguing about "what-ifs" is pointless, but it certainly keeps people entertained... -

I would point out that many thought Memorial would suffer a huge drop-off this year, and I certainly don't agree with your assessment that Reitz is irrelevant. Maybe having a down year on the hill, but that doesn't make them irrelevant. -

That is a great point. Probably not drawing a ton of new folks in, but certainly is an employer that can provide a great opportunity to keep folks around to raise a family and have a nice standard of living. I don't think Lannert has McKinney speed. The North QB is pretty good too. -
I believe the 1st offense is sitting 20% of the season (which I'm not sure how they calculate when it applies to other extra-curricular activities). I can't remember if 2nd offense is 1 year or 1 season. 3rd offense is death by honey and fire ants. The policy is stupid because it is not applied consistently across all schools in the conference. Plus, kid who does nothing at at school can't be punished because there is nothing to take away.

Thank you Cappy! I said after we played North that they will cause problems for some teams in the SIAC this year. They are much improved, tougher, and playing more as a team than in recent years. Coach P clearly has them buying in to the system. That is a good thing for the SIAC. I think they will get MD this Friday. I think Reitz will get things headed in the right direction by tournament time. Don't know much about NK, MtV or the Ridge. Doesn't surprise me that Buening has SR rolling. I like that guy a lot. -
I'll take... North, Central, Reitz and Memorial. I expect the North / MD game to be the best game of the week in the SIAC.

Me too. I also watched Chatard v. Cathedral. Without the QB Southport will be in deep, deep trouble. With the QB they might have only been in deep trouble. -

Yep, the re-alignment really created a mess in 3A. I agree with you about WL and BC. That will be a great match-up and I would put my money on the winner of that one to take the 3A title. -
Lincoln's losses to Boonville and Mt. Vernon were surprising, especially after Jasper beat Boonville so bad. I have no idea what to expect in this game.

Folks down in this part of the state will be very interested in the result of the Chatard v. Southport game. I expect Chatard will win by several TDs. -
I think this is just an unfounded rumor because if we have, our coach wasn't aware of it when I talked to him after seeing these posts on my way back from the Colts game in Nashville yesterday afternoon. We do have a random screening policy that all students are subject to as a condition of enrollment and the first random tests of the 2019-2020 school year were Friday. As background, my sophomore son was selected last year in the spring and the email we received notifying us that our son was randomly selected also said it would take 2 weeks before we were notified of the results. My recollection is that it didn't take that long, but it was a week or so before we learned the results were negative. I believe Mater Dei has the same policy. I'm curious though, do any other SIAC schools have a similar random screening policy?
