Jasper, North and Castle are all pretty easy to call this week. VL looks pretty solid on the MD film, but Central is a whole different animal. VL better be ready for all the extra stuff that Central likes to bring. Memorial / Mater Dei is almost always a toss up except in those years where one team is clearly superior. Neither is this year. Should be a good game.

Memorial is at 550 this year, which makes it the smallest 4A school by well over 200 students. I don’t know about Mater Dei (and this week I don’t much care, LOL).

@SEAL_63 it could impact next week too. Stinks for Castle possibly missing the only games that are what I would call “sure bets”. Safe to say Memorial got the short end of the new SIAC scheduling at least through first 4 weeks. After 3 weeks I have to say North is the best team we’ve played so far. Central wasn’t as dynamic as I expected. They will struggle against any team that can stop #40 and force them to throw. Might not happen until Regional though.

Pence is ineligible. 4A player. Although the school is darn near 2A enrollment at 550. No, he is definitely a pocket passer. A good one at that, but he isn’t nearly as effective when forced off the spot.

I think Reitz beats Jasper.

@TigerFan20 North over Memorial would not be an upset IMO. North beat a good Castle team in a close game. Memorial has to find a way to establish a running game and finish drives. If they can't it might be a long night for the Tigers. I also think we need to limit the number of players going both ways for so many plays. We got worn down by the 4th Q at Jasper.

@TigerFan20 as I said on here recently, Tigers are young and will take some lumps. Got another tough one this week with North.

On paper (and at this early stage) it has to be the game of the year in SW Indiana. There's a good chance that game will have at least one of everything except a unicorn. Already some Twitter smack going on and its still more than 2 weeks away..

We graduated a lot of seniors from the squad last year. Our QB is back, lots of depth at skill positions, shifty RB joined us this year, OL/DL are young but decent size. As is most every year, it should be a very competitive game. Looking forward to the first socially distant, masked up tailgate of the season in Dubois County this Friday.

@NumbersNvrLieNot just a segment, Coach Hart has a 30 minute show each week throughout the season. It is pretty well done. In the years we were in the same sectional I always enjoyed listening to it on Youtube, especially in the week before and after our games with them. If you listen to the list of sponsors they read off at the beginning, you'll understand why the station has the show. It is a loooong list, which illustrates the incredible level of support Coach Hart has in the south Gibson community. As evidenced in DumfriesYMCA's comments in (1) above, the GS folks believe in him, his staff, and the program. It's a position I think a lot of IND HS football coaches might enjoy finding themselves. Plus, GS has had some really good teams in Coach Hart's 8 years. As Titan32 has previously noted, with the exception of 2014, GS has lost to the eventual 3A state champ or runner-up every year - Chatard twice, Memorial 3 times, Brebeuf once, and Heritage Hills last year. Things have seemingly opened up a little bit for GS compared to prior years and they have a heckuva QB, so a lot of eyes are looking to see if Coach Hart can get them to the promised land this year.

JCats are rarely small up front. Tigers gotta stop the run to keep the W streak alive. Should be biggest crowd we will have all the entire season.

LOL. Evidently Randall Parmley.... I heard WFIE might do 2 games each week? Shocking because their sports coverage isn’t near what the other channels usually have.

Lburg at GS would be great, if for no other reason than to get Stink Town Clown on here with the GS fans.

Stinks the Wk. 2 game got cancelled with the team out of MO. Any word on if GS will get another opponent? Harrell lists Center Grove, Decatur Central, Guerin & Lawrenceburg as all having Wk. 2 open. I too am interested in hearing about Columbus North. Looks like they finished 2019 5-5 & #55 in SAG.
