I’m genuinely surprised that Chatard doesn’t have a larger gap over the #2. I would expect it to be similar to 6A with the gap between Center grove and Westfield. by all accounts and how they are doing it shouldn’t be close...but I guess the voters are more confident in Mish Marian WL and company
-
Exactly! Can’t take them for granted. Even if it has been a while since they had a victory over us, we can’t take them for granted. show up and continue to improve as we move closer to tournament time

If there was a year for princeton to snap their losing streak vs GS it would be this year. But all things considered, GS seemingly has found some new juice since SR ran to Indianapolis and back on us. Team seems fired up and are playing good in all phases of the game. I agree that it is probably a running clock at some point but definitely don’t want to treat the game like a sure thing lol
-
Definitely one of the best in the state/region. Judging by Adams gif he tweeted out last night, the man worked his tail off to make this happen
-
Max preps shows they finished 9-2 last year and 6-3 in 2018. so they are a more than decent team. Good coaching. Just haven’t played a game yet this season. This could be an interesting game
-
3A I believe. I looked them up on sagarin last night. They had about a middle of the pack ranking among 3A. But that is likely solely based on last years team. I know nothing of them beyond that but imagine they are a relatively decent team
-
I wonder if Calumet just wants to play some games and try to be ready for the playoffs. Can’t imagine this will be easy for a team with no games played to face GS who has played 6 games. But I’m glad both teams found a way to make a game happen.

Wooo hooo

With tomorrow being Friday I assume we won’t have a game? Unless something is found for a Saturday matchup maybe
-
all updates today seem to be here

As a guessing man...I would have to guess a number of starters contact traced out and they just don’t want to play the young guys more than what they already were. CALL BOONVILLE. LETS RUN THAT GAME BACK AGAIN Thinking on it. Boonville probably had to cancel on princeton this week so that won’t work
-
GS vs Mt Vernon also cancelled. GS looking for an opponent
-
Yeah well any respectable ranking would factor in some recent history from the previous seasons because at the end of the day the SOS all goes back to who won it all or advanced the furthest in prior years.... 6 weeks into a “closed” conference...and once sectionals start that starts to fall apart when they inevitably play out of conference especially in 2A. then it’s going to repeat next year lol. Unless the SIAC can get the tournament configured that they only play SIAC schools all the way through the playoffs it will never be closed
-
Does anyone have word whether both boonville and GS have found a week 9 opponent? I know they agreed that they will play each other unless they BOTH find a week 9 opponent. Going into week 7 figure maybe there would be some word of something if it was going to happen. personally would still want to face boonville as a GS fan. Give us a big test to see how much we have improved since the first matchup

Rare comebacks
DumfriesYMCA replied to oldunclemark's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
2012 Gibson Southern trailed Charlestown in regionals 49-21 At half and won 56-49. At the time it was the largest comeback in state history I believe I also recall that 2/3 years after this Game Center grove pulled off a larger comeback to win. -
the titans did much much better tonight. Build on this and continue it on into next week! Congrats to Coach Hart on the milestone.

This. after seeing the Southridge GIbson Southern game. Couldn’t agree more Gibson Southerns OL is averaging 6’3 265 across the board and their DL they have at times 2 kids that are 6’2 280 and 6’5 310. Watching the game they were very very clearly much larger than the Southridge OL/DL..it didn’t matter at all. The smaller SR OL fires off fast and aggressive and had good form to allow them to run at ease vs us. And while the GS OL is very very good, Southridge was able to create enough pressure to stall out drives and make enough stops. Thinking on it, there is one player I know who didn’t really see the field all to often during his time at Gibson Southern (I believe he has since graduated) and I believe he was about 6’4-6’6 310+. Kids that were 6’ 230 started over him on OL and DL. Not a knock on this kid but sometimes those smaller guys just want it more or it just doesn’t fit the scheme all too well. -
Okay that’s what I was thinking. I just thought the use of the word option and not mentioning the wishbone was strange.
-
Princeton clarion article on the game says you guys are running an option offense? is it still the wish/flex or is it something new? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone or any news refer to heritage hills as an option team.
-
agreed. The 2013 GS team rolled out a bunch of sophomores as starters (granted they were really good) and that 2015 team was something super special...look at Tell City now too. Shoot I think some of those guys have been starting for 4 years. Obviously it’s not ideal but I think good team with tradition can handle it. This is also why practice is so important. Those underclassmen practice against the seniors every day. Gotta make the most of those reps just in case your number is called on.

SW Indiana Freshman and JV News

Interesting. I was thinking about this after seeing the other thread about success at younger years vs the same school systems being an indicator for the future. it would seem to at least hold true here. obviously a lot still plays into this but interesting none the less -

Curious. Does anyone know how this current GS senior class did vs Southridge as 7th, 8th graders, and freshmen?
