  1. Budget restrictions at small schools limit the ability to "lighten the load" for coaches. There is also union concerns, that tend to arise. You are absolutely correct in saying it is hard to strike a balance, that is why I think so many schools are finding it hard to hire committed coaches in a lot sports these days.
  2. Jordan Leeper is the 8th Grade English teacher at Bremen.
  3. Demographics change, interests dropped, coaches retired, other regions have stepped up.
  4. I want to see a new Elkhart Push Penn, I want to see New Prairie, St. Joe and Marian push them as well. I want Mishawaka to push the new NLC to improve. I want to see the Michiana area to get back to being a hotbed of football in all classes.
  5. It is a great conversation for online banter, but it is DOA when it comes to the IHSAA.
  6. The grow them big up there. All those big bovine's that are up on all the restaurants have to be put up and taken down everyday. The treat replica's of Babe the Blue Ox the same way we treat the flag. Hence why they are so big.
  7. I would ask the kid to contemplate what he really wants. Is he committed to doing the work it will take, if he is willing to buy in more power to him. If he is lukewarm, he should discuss it over with his parents.
  8. Great idea. This is a great venue. Good Beer.
  9. Allen is creating more opportunities, those smaller schools will recruit the next kid up. Some kid who may of never played college ball now will, a few of them may in turn get a degree and return to the high school ranks and coach. A rising tide, lifts on ships.
  10. Potential Charter School at Washington fails Looks like they still plan to operate somewhere next year with the plan of offering 125 openings for the initial freshmen class. It will be interesting to see if this takes off. I know they started some athletic teams in Indy.
  11. Prayers to the Mishawaka community on the passing of Ross Perri. He was a legend. God Bless his family.
  12. Corey Stoner will be named new Jimtown Coach tonight accordiing to Chuck Freeby. Stoner is an 09 Mishawaka Grade and current Jimmie Baseball Coach.
  13. Justin Kinzie Interim at Riley
  14. You can say a lot of things about Frank DeSantis, crooked is not one of them.
  15. Bremen has always been bounced around geographically. Sometimes we are in the Northeast, Northwest, North Central. Back in the days that was the case and the same can be said 25 years later. We have hard sectional opponents from Eastside to Whiting and as far south as Oak Hill.
  16. I didn't watch the 5a and 6a games becuase I went out for the evening. I say around during the day and watched the other games for 2 days.
  17. Post season rankings don't mean anything. The only thing that matters is being the last team standing after the playoffs. Guys who look at post season rankings, use them as a measuring contest to talk trash to their buddies. Heck, I would argue pre-season rankings matter more, because they somewhat set the pecking order for next year.
  18. This is a real possibility. I know Jimtown numbers are lowering every year. This might lead to an uptick. Interesting to see what happens.
  19. I think Glenn is the team to beat in the South this year. They return some good players, Jimtown loses talent, and Marian is moving to the North.
  20. Saddened to hear this. One of the good guys.
  21. Bremen is willing to offer a lifetime of Lehman Mints if he comes to our Good Town.
  22. I agree. I think every school has to find what works best for them. I think ND has a pretty good deal with the ACC. Is it perfect? No. However I think it is the best situation available.
  23. Playing games in Ireland and Green Bay are products of being independent. They are are in California every year, the criss cross the nation and play in almost every region of the country every 2-3 years. You have pockets of ND fans everywhere, which contributes to an alumni base that stretches across the country. Those alumni in turn, donate money for many years.
  24. Being independent is far more valuable than bowl games. Bowl games are glorified exhibitions that players are choosing to skip more and more. The only thing that matters is being in the playoff. If ND goes 12-0 they will be in the playoff. If they don't, they don't deserve to be there.
  25. I am expecting a better Bremen team next year. The only lost a handful of seniors. Replacing the Huffman kid will be tough. He was a 4 year starter, and an All-Stater. The sophomore class was leaned on a lot this year. I am looking forward to seeing them grow and develop into juniors.
