  1. Dwenger does have a pretty good defense though. Northrop only had 7pts going into the 4th quarter against Dwenger before the Saints fell apart with turnovers.
  2. Carroll 48, Northrop 31 Mid 4th
  3. Carroll 40, Northrop 31 Early 4th
  4. I did say "arguably." Go ahead and argue. Give me your top two.
  5. Carroll 33, Northrop 31 Late 3rd Chargers let off the gas after going up 27-7
  6. Not being a homer, but I have to agree. I don't see DAC beating the SAC head to head.
  7. Carroll 27, Northrop 7 Half Dwenger 17, Snider 6 Late 3rd
  8. Carroll 21, Northrop 7 Late 2nd quarter Dwenger 10, Snider 6 Half
  9. Carroll 14, Northrop 0 Jaiden Van Pelt is only a junior? Good grief. Snider 6, Dwenger 3 86 yard touchdown drive by Snider.
  10. Saban had the best talent money could buy. But nonetheless, I've always considered him a Top 20 coach. I just don't know if it's 1 or 20. He barely had winning records his first four seasons at Michigan State. But credit to him for going 10-2 his fifth year and landing the LSU job. Cignetti gives you a lot of bang for your buck. When and who was the last coach who's made this kind of impact in a short period at a Power 5 program. Everyone wants to the be the "next Indiana." That's what NC was hoping for anyway, lol. Anyway. If I'm picking my head coach, I'm going with Cignetti. My number two choice would be Freeman. The state of Indiana is reeling right now with, arguably, the best two coaches in the country.
  11. Some of these national powers have so much talent it the halls it's hard not to fail. Do these powers have the kind of suburban competition that Warren Central and Ben Davis do? I'd put suburban Indy up against any suburban area in the country. I think your "dozens of examples" is a pretty small piece of the overall pie. I think the private schools are the best indicator when it comes to defending SES. Now, to be fair, Indy suburbia has enrollment going for them as well as SES. One could argue that large enrollment schools such as BD and WC match up just fine with them. More evidence that enrollment is a HUGE factor. The only way to get to the bottom of SES vs inner city is to compare schools that are of the same enrollment.
  12. @temptation Kill me now? Saban was 12-11-1 in his first two years at Michigan State. If I'm going into battle, I'm taking Cignetti with me.
  13. I don't know about Saban, but I might put my money on Cignetti.
  14. Some things are embarrassing, others not. If New Pal won ten in a row, that would be total respect and admiration. They do a good job of punching above their weight class. Carmel winning 39 straight with 5000 and thumping their chest about it is just arrogant. If Homestead had 5000 (hell, even 4000 kids, Carmel's swimming reign would be over. I'm sure there are some other programs that could say the same.
  15. I wasn't going to beat you up over the signs. Though guilty, something tells me other programs were doing the same thing. So I'm not going to play that card. How many ten win seasons does a team need over the course of twelve years to be considered elite? Notre Dame has nine with two national championship appearances. Historically, they have eleven championships. They're the third most valuable team in the country. Second most winningest program in the country. Not really sure why I'm even wasting my time with this.
  16. No, being the most recognized brand in the world is what makes one elite. You're only playing that card since your Wolverines won a couple of seasons ago, a very "down" year in terms of competition.
  17. Top 4 College Football Programs by Valuation Texas>>: ($2.38 billion) Georgia>>: ($1.92 billion) Ohio State>>: ($1.9 billion) Notre Dame>>: (1.85 billion)
  18. Lol, really, that's all you could come up with? Give us something else. Somehow convince us that Notre Dame isn't elite.
  19. Do you want you're kids to have an opportunity to play for a state title at Lucas? I'd say Snider and Carroll are you're best bet. I just don't see it happening at Northrop for three reasons: 1. They'll never be a 5A enrollment school. 2. They'll always be one of the smaller teams in 6A. Getting out of sectionals or regionals will be a grind for them. 3. I'm still not sure what Bowen can do outside of having a lot of talent. His teams have have been horrible (4-26) up until the new transfer rules took affect. Even some of the best coaches can't seem to get past semi-state. Look no further than Merrillville.
  20. Well, if they had 100 kids, they wouldn't have fielded this year's team. They fielded this team from a pool of 2500 boys.
  21. Not sure anyone on this forum ever suggested that enrollment "alone" determined ones success.
  22. Certainly community and administration is just a little embarrassed at 39 straight swimming titles in a row, right?
  23. You pretty much hit the nail on the head.
  24. I quit looking at the AP poll years ago, they just never made any sense. Have they gotten better? Truth be told, I think the posters here have a better grip on rankings than the media does. But the kids see the AP poll, not ours. So at the end of the day, let them have their time in the limelight. It's honestly just a false hope. Prime example: In 2005 I traveled down to Hamilton Southeastern to see them take on 12-0 Snider, who was ranked #1 in 5A (largest class at the time.) Isaacs used to say, "we're only #1 by default." He knew Indy teams just beat up on each other. I mentioned to another fan in the stands that this was going to be a good game. He said, "no way, HSE's record is only 9-3." I'm thinking, this guy has no clue. The AP poll has always rewarded the teams with the best record, not paying much attention to strength of schedule. I will say that they are getting better though. Oh, HSE won the game 32-15.
