No doubt, but this team is one the top teams as far as sales of team merch goes. But all teams do something along these lines. The absolute worst was the Bucs (all red) and the Rams (all yellow) a few years ago. I got a headache watching that.

Not horrible looking, but it does look a LOT like an Oregon uniform. I am a huge fan of the white jersey/white pants combo from the last couple seasons. The green pants here might look cool with the white jersey though.

The persuasion likely does happen. My perspective is that as long as the kid is out every day and is trying, doing all the work his teammates are, then he deserves my best. If kids like that stick it out for 4 years, who knows what can happen? I have had a LOT of kids over the years that worked themselves into starting roles by their senior year. I also see kids that never became starters, but did become coaches after college, so there is that to consider as well. There is no clearer sign to me that a program had an impact on a kid than to see them give back as coaches.

Yep...I would add to that in a lot of public programs, that ONE kid who has played QB (or any other position, but QB carries the most responsibility) for a few years in youth league and in junior high at times will pick other sports instead of football. So, someone has to be developed who has never played. The likely candidate would be a kid who may have been a back up possibly quit before his freshman year because he was just a back up. As far as the Frankfort Chatard comparison, I would say don't judge so harshly. We are a 4A program and have that as an issue as well. The high number of move ins and just kids trying the game for the first time are factors that a program cannot control.

There were usually letters to the editor that had the same complaints/concerns for years; usually after the playoffs were over.

To add to it...and yes, I don't want to detract too far, but contact tracing is just a measure to determine who was close to a student who tested positive for a given amount of time. If the tracing shows that a student was not close to a student long enough, they are not quarantined.

Got to watch the game against the Texans. If you have an android box or amazon firestick, download the BeastTV app. There is a subscription fee, but it is not even as much as one month of cable for most people. But you get local channels from all around the country. Jordan Love looked good. During an in game interview Rodgers said what you look for is footwork. Love adjusts well in the pocket, and he throws a great ball on target. Great to see so may people in Lambeau tonight....72,000. The battle for the number 3 back will be interesting to see play out. While a number of starters did not dress, they struggled to run the ball, and could not stop the run.

Sometimes it does take a lot of typing to say simply….this really is about the types of kids that do NOT attend non public schools. I agree that it is that point that is often ignored.

I agree with you about the bump up. But I disagree with your conclusion about the SF. We do see teams advance farther. We do see more teams competing against teams who basically have the same legitimate pool of students to draw from. Yes, the four year cycle was the initial IHSAA proposal. I too feel that would be a better use of the SF.

While it may be true that some schools are impacted by earlier classes of kids who excel, the fact is the entire enrollment based classification system does that. Every member school/team in the IHSAA is impacted by previous classes of students. Instead of just looking at a class of a couple of stud athletes impacting a program, look at the opposite end. There are a large number of schools that have students who cannot participate die to physical and/or mental health issues. In our building, that is about 8% of the population. Then there is unfortunately the population of kids who do nothing. They show up half the time, contribute little to nothing to the school, yet still count against a program. There are a number of schools across the State that feel that impact yearly. So, yeah, a program might bump up due to the success of an exceptional class. But the bump up is only for a two year cycle. While I don’t have the info in front of me, my impression is that most schools that are impacted by the SF seem to have sustained success to at least stay one class above where their enrollment would place them.

Really hope he figures things out, in life if not on the field.
