What drives the quick trigger is the one and done players.......It has created the mindset of "win right now". Calipari took it to a whole new level. The ripple effect still impacts the game. On the opposite side of it, I think Romeo Langford may have been the guy that accelerated Archie's demise. His season raised expectations through the roof; only to have been very underwhelming.

Looks like IU is close to hiring....don't hate the move, but his entire career has been in the NBA; no experience with recruiting is a concern. I have loved this place for as long as I can remember. I still remember as a kid going to see regional games here. The atmosphere was unreal back then. It is a shame that Barry Collier gave high schools the boot though. It seems that technology has changed some of the rules in recent years, or at least forced some clarifications. We are shopping for a headset system to replace our current one. This seems like a new thing. Are there NFHS rules that do not allow this type of communication between a coach and a player in the huddle? I have even seen that ear pieces are being advertised so it would be less obvious, or more efficient.

I agree Bob...that one seems to have the most credibility if it bears out to be true. The difference is that she left immediately, ignored messages from him. That said, someone I grew up with is apparently well versed in these types of things. The ones that visit hotels likely offered "other services". The key will be where they placed ads. Even though a site like backpage has been shut down by the FBI, there are still sites out there to advertise services. The ones who did not leave immediately, like this latest one......will have issues as well trying to prove their cases. With this last one though, knowing physiology to the extent that I do, certain events just do not happen spontaneously, so there is a bit of suspicion even in this story.

Well, as far as the visual goes, it does not appear that Chris Beard or any other coach who has had the season end are on the priority list for Dolson. I think he had a person in mind when he dumped Miller. I am thinking that person is coaching a team who has not had their season end yet.

He just signed an extension in February that has him there through the 26-27 season

Some things still don’t add up though. I am sure he made the appointments. But anyone that offers service in hotels?????? A couple of them were repeat visits. That tells me they knew what was going on, especially when something happened the first time. The one said she had to leave and compose herself after he kissed her? But then she went through with the appointment? My guess is the attorney is hoping for a settlement. If this goes to court, many of them will get hammered on cross examination. Watson may face discipline regardless at this point. He might as well let the cases go to court. You are right though Bob, they are similar. I could also see that as a problem for the plaintiffs’ attorney. I am thinking the stories could vary a little more, and that the same basic story is used over and over.

I know the B1G has a history of tournament disappointment, but I am not sure I remember a time when the conference was hyped in the media as much as it was this year and to flop like this. It was a really tough year to tell with everyone just playing in conference games. Michigan has a tough battle tonight with LSU. Without Livers, they may be in trouble. The common excuse for the conference is that these teams beat each other up throughout the season. Well, it was a shorter season. but for the most part, they are games these teams should not have lost, and there have been a few blowouts too. I am curious if the 8 teams from yesterday's games will stay in Indy for the week? It seems like an obvious thing for the winners from today's games though, especially the West coast teams. Speaking of the West coast, the PAC 12 has been impressive.

Not many upsets in day 2. Day 1 though....3 lower seeds win in Baylor's bracket. I had a perfect day going today on my ESPN bracket until Ohio U won. Funny that 5 B1G teams get games at Mackey (none at IU though).....thought that would be an advantage since they all play there once a year, but that did not work out so well for Michigan State or Ohio State. To this point, Jaden Ivey is the most dynamic player I have seen in this tournament; and he is just a freshman.

There are several things that make me wonder what is going on. The timing of this is just odd. Watson wants out in the worst way because the owner is a turd. And at one time, we now have, according to the attorney, 22 women who he has filed suits for, or is preparing to do so. It just seems like overkill. Why all of the sudden they are coming forward now? I don’t doubt he has made visits, but we all know that tales of massage parlor visits all have happy endings. 🤣 I have to think with so many women now making these claims, we should have heard a few of these cases come out before now. If the owner wanted to trash the guy, then pay off 3 or 4; at most 6. At this point, the more that the attorney represents, the less credibility I am giving to the whole thing. Again, timing is everything.

This is a horrible loss for Purdue. I know Painter is a good coach and does things the right way. Is that enough for Purdue fans? On a side note, Ivey's stock went through the roof.

OK....who you got winning it all? Illinois was playing GREAT ball at the end of the season, and I like the draw they have. Playing the WHOLE thing in Indy is a bit much in my mind. It would have made more sense to do 4 sites; one for each region. To me, a team like Gonzaga has a HUGE disadvantage being so far out of their time zone. Talk shows are talking about a LOT of upsets, but I have to think with minimal crowds, they are less likely. The common theme for many of the upsets over the years is to draw in a crowd rooting for other teams that are at the game, to start rooting for the underdog. Interesting to see some familiar names not dancing this year. Duke and UK missing are enough to offset my disappointment in the Hoosiers season 😄

I agree....It's easy to look back now and judge, but at the time, it looked like the right move. I am not sure what happened, but the program never really did improve. One of the places that has higher expectations than IU is Boston. They are currently the 5 seed in the conference. being competitive is not enough for Celtics fans. They are just 20-18 as of today. The timing may be just right for Stevens to start over somewhere else. No better place than Bloomington. When it comes to big named coaches, there just are not that many out there. There are a few other names if Stevens is not the guy. I think both Calbert Cheaney and Dane Fife have paid their dues. A name not mentioned much is Scott Drew. he has done well at Baylor and has them as a 1 seed this year. I hear Thad Matta's name thrown around. That one is intriguing. One other name I will throw out there......Tommy Amaker at Harvard. he has done well there for some time. If a culture change is needed, he would be good fit. What may be just as important this time around though, is names to avoid Topping that list is Rick Pitino; just WAY too much baggage. Next is Steve Alford.......while I was a fan of his as a player, I just don't believe he has ever shown he is a great head coach. My guess is that John Calipari's time at UK is coming to an end. I say stay away as I am not sure IU folks are willing to take the path that UK did to succeed. We still like to think of IU as an actual school still and not just a developmental system for the NBA; which is what UK became under Cal. John Beilein is next. He is 68 years old. Great coach, don't get me wrong, but can he commit to a complete rebuild of a program? The other names may have to deal with the "Archie hangover". Resume's look good right now, buuuuuuut. None of the names really make anyone think, this is a home run. The irony in this is that Kelvin Sampson will be coaching in the tournament at IU this week. I really liked him as a head coach. I did not like his willfulness to break the same rules that got him in trouble at Oklahoma. The crazy part is that what he was busted for is now legal in the NCAA. Bring him back to IU????

It's not a matter of my placing any faith in a local communities decisions, it's more about it being none of my business what communities choose to do with those funds. The fact of the matter is that the turf is ultimately a cost savings; and in many places sees a significant increase in usage outside of just one game that children play. Outside of that game, we have two junior high teams, two PAL teams, boys and girls high school soccer teams, two junior high soccer teams, our band, and our Physical Education classes. Many of those things did not happen when we had a grass field.
