  1. Sad to see what transpired with the MNF game with Dama Hamlin. Praying he recovers. This may explain what happened after the hit.
  2. If TCU can move the ball against Georgia like they did against Michigan, it will be a fun game to watch. And it would not surprise me at all if they even win.
  3. The epitome of it wearing off was his pregame speech before the Purdue game. Man was that cringeworthy. Anything gimmicky just does not seem to work (row the boat comes to mind). Jusst the same, a coach who yells and screams all the time wears out too. It all just becomes noise.
  4. Following Bob's lead from the ND topic; time to turn the page. Not holding out much hope for this coming season. 2 teams in the division making the CFP does not help. A number of players have entered the transfer portal; guys who could have played key roles this coming season. IU keeping Allen is purely a financial one on their part. I worry what it costs them in the long run; not that things will get much worse than last season, but there is no light at the end of the tunnel. And whoever the AD is needs to be fired. 1. for agreeing to the ridiculous buyout for Allen. 2. for allowing the season opener to be against osu. prediction....2 wins, Indiana State and Akron, providing that no one gets injured playing an angry osu team, who has shown they now love to pour it on when it comes to playing IU.
  5. The Vikings just took a good ole fashioned butt whoopin today. All the things that had to happen from just a month ago for the Packers to make the playoffs.....it is incredible they actually control their own destiny. Don't get me wrong, I am not overly excited about them getting in the playoffs as it very well could mean a trip to Frisco. I am not getting overly excited, but have to ask where this team was all season? Plenty of mistakes but forcing turnovers was huge.
  6. From what I read, that is just one standard for the call, but not the only indicator. There are other indicators that could occur for targeting to be called. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-football/news/college-football-targeting-rule-penalty-ejection/yqdcwtpqt13vpmj7bcseti5d " ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting. When in question, it is a foul. ... Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indications of targeting (emphasis NCAA's) include but are not limited to: Launch-a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet Note 2: Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14). When in question, a player is defenseless. Examples of defenseless players include but are not limited to: A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass A receiver attempting to catch a forward pass or in position to receive a backward pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier A kicker in the act of or just after kicking a ball, or during the kick or the return A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick, or one who has completed a catch or recovery and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier A player on the ground A player obviously out of the play A player who receives a blind-side block A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped A quarterback any time after a change of possession a ball carrier who has obviously given himself up and is sliding feet first" The video in the link is an explanation of the most recent updates in ruling what is targeting. A key point in the video states that use of the crown of the helmet is targeting, no matter where the contact occurs.
  7. hmmmmmm.......in my mind he was defenseless. If the hit came from in front of him, I would agree with you. But with the way the back of his head was exposed and in the position it was in, it sure seems like he was defenseless.
  8. Like the announcers said, the ball bounced off him initially, but as he gained control/caught the pass, the ball was over the line. Another critical call, on the 4th down play at the end, the potential of targeting being called allows Michigan to keep possession and still have a chance to win. In my mind, there is no question the defender used the crown of his helmet. I also thought first contact was made with the back of the helmet. My guess was it was not called because the defender also used his forearm to make contact.
  9. Not at all what I expected from either game. With no real dog in either game, they were fun to watch as a fan. Being a defensive guy though, sheesh. While I will stick with Georgia winning it all, TCU will give them all they can handle.
  10. I am watching ESPNNews. They have a drone camera behind the offense. What is impressive is that TCU is moving the ball at will. This view shows just how out of place Michigan is so often; a number of times, there are only 1 or 2 guys who have a chance to make a play, and they are missing tackles too often.
  11. Maybe he is the last of the old guard to lead the church. I disagreed with a lot of things he did (and did not do) and said, but he deserved a LOT of credit for being humble enought to retire; the first in 600 years to have done so. In my mind, that took a lot of courage on his part to actually do that. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2022/12/31/pope-benedict-death-passionate-defender-church-and-faith/10974488002/
  12. Georgia and Michigan win easily today. I just think Georgia is that much better than any other team this season. TCU got beat up in the conference title game. This late in the year, players do not really fully recover. I love the competitiveness in Duggan, but Michigan is a team like none they have seen this year. Georgia beats Michigan in the title game, by two scores. I think the Michigan o line will keep them in the game.
  13. Walters created a path for so many to follow. RIP https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/barbara-walters-trailblazing-tv-icon-dies-93/story?id=41435083&fbclid=IwAR0ecF6EzFsmn0_syqG3hJPxSbyC-PNYnNUsHfan44-SmSn52e4_zMu_6-k
  14. It was a HORRIBLE read by Buchner. he looked at the receiver the entire time....had time to scan the field, and see that safety. he would have also seen the receiver to his right that had a big size advantage on the CB.
  15. The Legend, Pele passes at the age of 82; what an incredible ambassador for the game of soccer. RIP https://www.espn.com/sports/soccer/story/_/id/29013931/legendary-life-brazilian-fifa-soccer-pele-photos
  16. lol...rumors here are fine. They are all pros and paid very well.
  17. Could probably afford to be a bit pickier. I am not sure there are many assets Houston or Indy have that would really improve a team.
  18. This goes back to a point that has been mentioned often; the real recuiting starts after kids commit.
  19. Thanks for the heads up...It must have slipped passed me.
  20. The conversation is well under way here: We want to stick with current HS players here on the main page.
  21. Going into this weekend, the Packers chances were slim for even staying alive in the playoff race. Everything that had to happen this weekend happened lol. As Lloyd Christmas would say......so you're telling me there's a chance?
  22. This may be the biggest problem in all that has happened. There are things the NCAA could do to control this type of thing.
  23. No question about that......there are many adults who don't really think it means much either.
