  1. Love watching the Army Navy game every year. The pregame show is always an inspiration. It was one of the craziest games I remember in the series and felt HORRIBLE for the RB from Navy. These young men pour so much of themselves into this game. My goal is to see it in person some day. I agree Bash about Navy dismissing Niumatalolo. He was the face of the program for so long, and is such a class act.
  2. Mike Leach is in the hospital and reports are that he is not doing well. He had battled pneumonia late in the season. Praying he gets well. He is an absolute gem among coaches. https://twitter.com/Super70sSports/status/1602161993397538823?s=20 https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/1602133633938194432?s=20
  3. Had you heard of the Marine prior to today? I admit I had not heard of him before now. There are a LOT of people who never did. Were any of us aware he was punitively discharged (one step away from dishonorable)? For larceny? Again, I was not. What we have also learned is that he was taken into custody in 2018. I will add the Whelan family has made it clear the previous administration did nothing to try to gain his release, and added that the current administration maintained regular contact with the family with updates on efforts. Ever heard of Trevor Reed? He was also taken into custody by Russian authorities in 2019. He was also released in August of 2022 through the efforts of the current administration. So how about we cut the righteous indignation BS and not tread down the path of the usual angles in stories like this one. IO is spot on in the only real point to be made beyond 1 more American citizen being freed from Russian prison, is that there are way too many people in American prisons charged with similar crimes; and unlike Griner in Russia, never had a trial, but accepted some asinine plea deal from an overly aggressive DA trying to score political points for being "tough on crime".
  4. A teacher friend mentioned that Kevin Sumlin’s name was brought up.
  5. In other news........the Bears have not sought new ownership. The current owner remains in place. 🤣
  6. Tom Crean provides some insights into what he had to deal with when hired at IU. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/tom-crean-says-it-was-worse-than-you-think-when-he-took-over-at-iu/
  7. I agree that Alabama should not leap frog anyone. I was messaging an older brother during the game, and he put it best. If the conference title games mean anything, give more credit to a team who played in one, especially if the loss was a close one.
  8. I think what may have stayed under the radar is the relationship between Pyne and Rees. There is one very notable incident where Rees chews him out, but many other times, I thought it was obvious that Rees was frustrated with Pyne's play.
  9. To clarify, the field expands to 12. I wonder if we will see conferences put an end to their championship games? Especially with the coming 12 team playoff. A potential loss in an extra game could put a team in a bind as far as seeding goes, especially with 1st round byes involved.
  10. The independents, Angus King ME and Bernie Sanders VT caucused with the Democrats, so they get to count them.
  11. I count 7 that are not part of the North Deanery; St. Michael (West), St. Monica (West), St. Susanna (wow, what a drive, but West Deanery), St. Simon moved and was an East Deanery Parish, but the Archdiocese lets them choose Scecina (East Deanery) or Chatard; or at least it did at one time, St. Elizabeth Seton (Lafayette Diocese), St. Barnabas (South), St. Malachy (West) Including the player from out of State, there are 12 from non feeder schools/parishes. Years ago, there was an agreement among the high schools that they would charge a deanery rate for tuition and a rate for students outside the deanery.
  12. Sad news; hoping he recovers quickly
  13. USC at 5? Will Bama leap frog them?
  14. This topic deserves the same fate as the team this year. We ready for the 2023 offseason/season now?
  15. Things that make you go hmmmm
  16. No pro level experience though. Maybe he can head to IU? 🙂
  17. With the news at Wisconsin, I am guessing Jim Leonhard will land as a head coach somewhere soon, if he does not stay at UWM.
  18. A couple moves out of the gate. Matt Ruhle goes to Nebraska, and now Luke Fickell goes to Wisconsin https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/uw/2022/11/27/wisconsin-set-to-hire-cincinnatis-luke-fickell-as-next-football-coach/69680209007/ I thought about putting 2022 in the title as well, but with just over a month left, I left it out. Plus this is about 2023 and beyond.
  19. And LSU says no thank you. So how crazy would this be IF it happens? The SEC Champ does NOT make the playoff. As Lloyd Christmas says, “so you’re telling me there’s a chance?”
  20. Poor plan all around, and credit to SC, they came out and played with much more passion….and kicked their asses.
  21. Just not sure Rees is ever going to figure out that his offense is better going straight ahead instead of sideline to sideline. You have 2 yards to gain and you run a jet sweep? Come on man. Defense is making mistakes trying to be too aggressive. The SC QB is running all over the place. In all the scramble drills you run as a defense, I have never seen a corner leave his receiver, especially in man coverage, to try to get a qb.
