  1. Bakhtiari tore his ACL in practice today......That hurts but I like that Elgton Jenkins is likely the guy to step in that spot.
  2. Congrats to Ball State for the win today. It did look like during the post game hand shakes that someone from San Jose State was not too happy with the result and was looking for trouble. I know some don't think Bowl games really mean anything, but the Mountain West is a higher profile conference than the MAC, and to win this way is a big deal. It was also a GREAT time slot on network TV for them to play. Mike Neu has done a great job building this program. Of course when you talk about Ball State having this kind of success, hanging on to the coach comes into question. It helps that Neu is an alum, but BSU is a bare bones athletic program; so keeping him there could be difficult to do. There was a nice moment during the game where Brad Nessler talked about the Hoosier State and they showed the 3 teams that are in a bowl game; definitely a rare football moment for this State.
  3. I was watching highlights of the Army West VA match up in the Liberty Bowl. The announcer said that Army was a replacement team. Tennessee had to back out due to covid issues on the team. Army is 9-2 and got stuck without a bowl game to play. Several 3-3, 4-1 teams are in bowls but a 9-2 West Point team was stuck. I am glad they got to play, but damn........yes there are too many bowl games. That is what happens when the NCAA allows other entities control their post season.
  4. yep...Dan Dakich posted the video on his twitter
  5. Yep
  6. Ball State seems to have stopped playing giving up 2 TD's in the 3rd quarter.
  7. Add to it ...now there is video of the kid who kicked the Tulsa player in the chest, bragging about it while watching the video on a phone, and laughing with teammates as well.
  8. There was a mixup before the game as well.....http://www.espn.com/video/clip/clip?id=30629504
  9. NEVER want to see a game end like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpvEk35sIrA But seeing this happen before the game is just almost as bad. http://www.espn.com/video/clip/clip?id=30629504
  10. Miss. State 1 yard punt....lol https://twitter.com/YahooSportsCFB/status/1344731433638785024?s=20
  11. Ball State is off to a great start against San Jose State..........for those that care 🤣
  12. It was John Parry, the former official who chimes in on replays who said it was behind the LOS. The rest is just my speculation.
  13. The one explanation that I did not buy was that the ball was caught behind the LOS. I don’t think it was. I think what may have been the consideration is that two other defenders were there to cover the guy at the point of the catch, and that the guy that Stoops picked was too far behind him (burnt). I am not firm on any of these. I will need to find a clip of the play to watch more.
  14. Hence my opening line....”what the heck....for sh*** and giggles”
  15. And how cool of a name for a QB is Spencer Rattler?
  16. The first quarter of the Cotton Bowl is not even over and Kyle Trask has just lost his chance at the Heisman. Even with receivers opting out, the first pick was just telegraphed. Florida doing their impression of Notre Dame in the post season???? lol sorry, could not resist...and I am an Irish fan :) The OU o line is dominating.
  17. As for the first part, I took the original question asking how schools approach the upcoming season, and not asking how the season will go on, or how to get through it. Planning ahead for some may mean limiting travel; although travel expenses are a separate fund for districts. As Stax said, money has already been lost and will not be recouped; so, while in season ideas might help; getting off the ground is the issue. Again, I assumed this was the gist of the question asked in the OP. There are expenses that are incurred for football yearly. Helmets and shoulder pads have a 5 year life span and have to rotated out of use. Helmets that are used in a season MUST be reconditioned annually. I am not sure, but I think shoulder pads must be as well. We typically see around 5 helmets that are rejected in that process.
  18. What the heck.....just for some sh*** and giggles; I figured we could start a topic to cover all non CFP bowl games....Include some funny stuff as well. Like the Wisconsin QB with the trophy from today's game lol https://twitter.com/ZachHeilprin/status/1344400073938120705?s=20 Interesting to see some of the matchups. I still laugh that teams that played maybe 5 or 6 games are in bowl games.
  19. My guess is there are a few programs; especially ones that just scrape by financially from year to year may have issues as far as funding and travel expenses. I hope we will not see programs deciding to not play next season. We will see.
  20. Apparently, the show is going to continue on https://gbmwolverine.com/2020/12/29/michigan-football-jim-harbaugh-deal-reportedly-done/amp/?fbclid=IwAR1k_eiw9diFC6aHMhKcwkr3ItjUe9_C8NTxgKswmptYrtiaCqMmKmXAZp0
  21. I think the larger point is that the other AD’s and conference leadership has intentionally had a negative impact on the IU program. It is unfortunate that it takes multiple seasons of evidence to get a level of respect that would have IU playing in a NY6 game. Each season should stand alone when it comes to bowl selection. IU earned a spot this season, and the conference leadership did not support them. I am not at all willing to give Glass a pass of any sort here either....if you sat in on meetings and saw firsthand that these things were happening to IU, grow a pair and speak out.....then. Doing so now does not exonerate him of any blame.
  22. HUGE missed opportunity today by the Colts....HORRIBLE 2nd half. They gave up on the run game way too soon. Defense played really well most of the game; hard to fault them for the one play 3 yard drive for a TD......outside of that one play, they really did do enough to win the game. The loss could very well cost them a spot in the playoffs. It is crazy to think they could finish 11-5 and miss the playoffs, when in the NFC, the Cowboys are still alive and could finish 7-9.
  23. Two teams reached out to Urban Meyer....are the Bears one of them?
  24. As has been said before, if OSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin and even Iowa were in the same position IU was, any of those teams would have played in the conference championship with no 11th hour change of plans, AND those schools would have been in one of those NY6 games. I am not really big on looking for bulletin board material for a team, or things similar, but this is one case where an exception can be made for IU for next season. Carry that chip on your shoulder Hoosiers.
  25. 4 seems to work well....I do know a couple of coaches associations are looking at proposing 3. There are small things we don’t think of. As far as baseball goes, 4 works well. Our coach has said the bigger the school, the more likely you have depth in pitching without having to rely on one or two guys who really are not pitchers. Track and Field is looking at 3 classes. Where some schools lose out in track is in field events. If they go to a large meet and teams have pole vaulters and others don’t, they miss out on even having a chance at the points that come from that. I believe Wrestling is looking at 3 classes as well.
