I was messaging a friend, and I am not sure how much weight to put behind this, but there are two plays that come to mind when I think about how the season for 3 teams has played out. The 2 point conversion by IU against Penn State changed the trajectory of both of their seasons. With sooo many close calls for IU over the last decade and more, I think they settle back into another average season if they miss. Penn State could very well have been where IU is right now if they get that stop. The other play....the HORRIBLE pass interference call against Purdue in the Minnesota game. With where Minnesota was heading with Fleck; or so we thought, a win there would have been HUGE for Purdue, and likely changes their season. While I am an IU fan, I don't like seeing Purdue struggle like this.

That is cool......speaking of which...COMPLETELY off the topic, but the age thing......something I learned just yesterday..... John Tyler was the 10th President of the United States. He was born in 1790. He had a grandson...yes, grandson, not great grandson, but grandson; who passed away September 26th of THIS year at 95. He has a younger brother that is still alive at age 91. Crazy right? I shared with my family because I thought we were unusual; well, yeah, ok, we ARE. But our generation is now in our 50's with the first couple turning 60 this year. Anyway, we had just one grandparent that was born in the 20th Century. and She was born in 03. Our grandfather on our mom's side was born in 1888. I still think that is a crazy amount of time for just two generations to span, but when I saw the blurb about Tyler's grandson, it blew me away. And yep, I did fact check it for accuracy. Ok, now back on topic. This is what happens when IU and Notre Dame are not playing on the same Saturday. :)

Not the best looking ones for either team, but I am ok with it knowing they are honoring something significant with each.

Going to chime in quickly......again, I have the same amount of teaching/coaching experience on both sides of this issue. While the makeup of a school’s population is a factor, the real difference is not necessarily the kids that are IN the buildings, but the kids that are NOT in the buildings....and to clarify, I mean the types of kids that are NOT in non public schools.

A LOT of interesting names out there...and fun conversation...as @Coach Nowlin said, stay away from the hearsay. I agree with Temptation as far as the coaches in the donut around Marion County. I don’t see any of them moving. I am going to throw one name out there that has yet to come up, but has been a GREAT coach. Terry Peebles has plenty of experience on the college level and has done a great job with the Harrison program.

I have no doubt that it will end with osu getting their way. Just hope the Hoosiers remember this going forward.

The only question is from Michigan. When did the countdown start for the players who tested positive? I believe that December 19th is the last date teams wanting to compete for the title can play...if I remember reading that right.

I can empathize with osu a bit here, theye did after all win in a head to head game. UM cancelling was out of their control, BUT, asTemptation said, their own program did not do what it needed to leading up to the Illinois game. So my empathy stops there. IU has done what it needed to as a program, controlling the virus as best they could. They met the pre season standards that were put in place, and should not be slapped in the face for doing more than the osu program did to protect the season. Bigger question is, does osu get left out of the CFP because of the limited number of games?

Still one of the most enjoyable games in the finals I have seen. The precision was pretty impressive. I rank it number 3 or 4. The first two are kind of obvious to me, considering I was on the field for them as my two favorite games.

IIRC.....When 6A first became a thing to address disparities in enrollment at the top end, people had posted that the actually greatest disparities occurred from the biggest 1A schools to the smallest. I am not talking about just raw numbers obviously. I have not looked recently, but am wondering if that is still the case.

The questions remain though....what is the fix? is there one? Would seeding make a difference? Adding a class? Making 6A smaller? Is MIC dominance a problem? I can see that some think it is. Is it a problem that people see as needing to be fixed? Does it help that the whole conference is in the South Semi State?

I was referring to just this game. Not sure where you get that I was critical of them this season? Tell me where I was wrong. Every big play that Wisconsin had was due to blitz calls that opened up lanes for the qb on multiple plays where he escaped the pocket. Stunting up front at times allowed zone plays to bounce outside. So yeah, there is room for improvement, meaning there are things to be critical of.

Breaking news......

Tuttle's accuracy was impressive. He does need to run much less, or at least get down before contact. I thought it was bad call when the targeting was overturned though. I listened to the former official in the booth. Bottom line is a blow to the head is a blow to the head. Defense had me worried. I thought they blitzed too many too often. It created run lanes for huge gains; including the qb escaping the pocket. But, they made critical plays when needed. It was a good win on the road. Anyone seeing just how likely it is getting to be that IU and ND match up in a bowl game? Assuming that Clemson beats ND in the rematch.

I know someone in this area that actually started the process to open a charter school......pretty much for that purpose.

Me either...in fact, the only game they could not run was the Ohio State game. The run game has been a key in every other game.

Pioneer had a great team. It was a great environment even under the conditions of the time. Being one of the press box coaches and being stuck outside the press box, the fans around us were great too. Watching that offense run as well as it did even in week 3 was impressive, especially considering the qb was a freshman. Best of luck next season.

Saw on ESPN's Sportscenter that Pape's pick was number 5 in the top ten plays of the week. It was a great play.

Well said TW...and by the way, congratulations. While I do think socio economics are a big factor (heck they are in education as a whole, so it stands to reason that would be the same for other areas within a school/district). I would add in the population I described earlier. I do not think it would be too difficult to have a system in place that determines how many students in each building are actually eligible/able to participate in ECA’s and arrange classes based on that number rather than just overall enrollment.

I agree with the expansion to 8 teams. With things the way they are now, it would be simple to do. I agree though that the loser of the ND Clemson game gets left out. I mentioned this for several years now, because the current setup sucks. Bottom line is that ND has to beat Clemson twice to get in, and Clemson only needs to split.
