17 points in the span of 54 seconds on the game clock......HUGE. ALWAYS defer when you win the toss.

Maybe LaFleur can learn something about game management. I am not a fan of taking the ball when winning the coin toss. I don't know how often it works out, but it seems the teams that receive to start the 2nd half often end the 1st half with the ball. It's burned Green Bay a few times where the opponent has scored with both possessions. The Vikings did it last Sunday, and the Lions were able to do as well. The Vikings were able to put 14 points on the board. The Lions got 10. The Rams got 10 as well earlier in the season. Look at the Irish last night; kick a FG with little to no time for Georgia to do anything, get a turnover and a TD. They start the 2nd half with the ball, and actually score on the return. 54 seconds of time ran off the clock, but it changed the game completely.

Even before that when Jack Del Rio was the head coach in Jacksonville, he started wearing suits. The league initially said it was not approved sideline gear. They had a contract with Reebok then, so Reebok actually starting making shirts and ties for him to meet the NFL guidelines. It was a pretty impressive look too. So while the league has a say so, whoever has the contract for sideline apparel could help.

Pretty cool to see this

Did anyone notice that Georgia lost to Notre Dame by more points than IU did? Hmmm. 😄

One thing that was noticeable this game compared to the other playoff games along with multiple bowl games; there was no visible trash talking or other nonsense when tackles were made. 2 very well coached and disciplined programs.

Thoughts: 1. The SEC screwed themselves in this playoff setup their commissioner helped create. 2. F' the SEC 🙂 3. None of the teams with a bye won. 4. F' the SEC 🙂 5. The Irish and Ohio State played to win. Aggressive play calling and stealing possessions. 6. F' the SEC 🙂 7. ND penalties were all bad mistakes that should not happen. 8. F' the SEC 🙂 9. Picking ND and Ohio State next week. 10. F' the SEC 🙂 PS....oh yeah, IU belonged in the playoff. 🙂

Defense wins championships.

Pagano was on the show and said that some calls are made in the front office. But I could see a coach ignoring it to help his players get what they earn. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I looked into it and don't see any options for moving a reply to a different topic.

How many calls will Geno Smith change? And the Bucs are in a MUST win spot as well, so that helps Evans.
-
Some interesting scenarios to consider going into the last week of the season. Several of these are pretty healthy bonuses. Several within reach in a single game as well, especially for Evans and Smith at the top of the list.

Sorry if that is the way my post came across. I did not mean it to. I agree though, it is what it is now.

They still need to upgrade the o line. That is the group that struggled the last 3 games. The schedule looks easier next season, but will they face tougher scrutiny with the way they lost to Ohio State and Notre Dame?

As others have said several times, not a fan of this portal business. On this list is Louis Moore. Played all 24 games he was on the roster for during his first stint under Tom Allen; transferred to Ole Miss and is now coming back to IU.

Wondering if that home game to start the playoff helped? These 2 games that OSU has played has been the best they have looked by far.

Crazy game in Atlanta. Texas should have run them out of stadium. Gotta love the heart in the ASU team though.

Even prior to his recent legal, health, and addiction issues, when he was the GM, or heavily involved in team decisions, he sucked at it. He even admitted the team got better when he fired himself. That is the only time period they have been good.

Northwestern looking for HC

Do you have a link you could share? Thanks -
100% And looking at how many underclassmen are in it, I will be curious to see how many go nowhere. Kind of like having a house on the market too long. The value drops the longer it's there. With roster cuts coming next season as well, that only adds to the number who will not land anywhere. Stated it about a year ago, contracts would cut down the use of the portal. Make them 2 year contracts with an option for years 3 and 4.

I sure hope that is a HARD pass. I have not been impressed with him. There is a reason he is looking elsewhere....and his name is Arch! I like the QB's the Irish have now. You bring Ewers in and those guys are gone.

So what organization is in the worst shape? The Giants? The Jets? The Bears? The Colts? While arguments can be made for each, I am gonna go with the Jets. Similar to the Colts, they do not have a worthy starter. But they also let Rodgers make the calls for people to bring in. Adams was the only one that made sense. And now their coaching search has Rex Ryan on their radar? I was never high on either of the Ryan twins as coaches. Always felt like they were the show. Rex has grown on me with his in studio job. I will always enjoy hearing coaches at any level talking x's and o's. Rex has already had one stint with the Jets. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jets-head-coaching-search-rex-ryan-ron-rivera-on-track-for-interviews-as-2024-season-winds-down/
