  1. Not many upsets in day 2. Day 1 though....3 lower seeds win in Baylor's bracket. I had a perfect day going today on my ESPN bracket until Ohio U won. Funny that 5 B1G teams get games at Mackey (none at IU though).....thought that would be an advantage since they all play there once a year, but that did not work out so well for Michigan State or Ohio State. To this point, Jaden Ivey is the most dynamic player I have seen in this tournament; and he is just a freshman.
  2. There are several things that make me wonder what is going on. The timing of this is just odd. Watson wants out in the worst way because the owner is a turd. And at one time, we now have, according to the attorney, 22 women who he has filed suits for, or is preparing to do so. It just seems like overkill. Why all of the sudden they are coming forward now? I don’t doubt he has made visits, but we all know that tales of massage parlor visits all have happy endings. 🤣 I have to think with so many women now making these claims, we should have heard a few of these cases come out before now. If the owner wanted to trash the guy, then pay off 3 or 4; at most 6. At this point, the more that the attorney represents, the less credibility I am giving to the whole thing. Again, timing is everything.
  3. This is a horrible loss for Purdue. I know Painter is a good coach and does things the right way. Is that enough for Purdue fans? On a side note, Ivey's stock went through the roof.
  4. John McKay is a treasure when it comes to great quotes. "We didn't tackle well today but we made up for it by not blocking." "Emotion is highly overrated in football. My wife Corky is emotional as hell but can't play football worth a damn."
  5. It also gives Ainge an out if he were looking for one. He could encourage Stevens to go for it.
  6. OK....who you got winning it all? Illinois was playing GREAT ball at the end of the season, and I like the draw they have. Playing the WHOLE thing in Indy is a bit much in my mind. It would have made more sense to do 4 sites; one for each region. To me, a team like Gonzaga has a HUGE disadvantage being so far out of their time zone. Talk shows are talking about a LOT of upsets, but I have to think with minimal crowds, they are less likely. The common theme for many of the upsets over the years is to draw in a crowd rooting for other teams that are at the game, to start rooting for the underdog. Interesting to see some familiar names not dancing this year. Duke and UK missing are enough to offset my disappointment in the Hoosiers season 😄
  7. I agree....It's easy to look back now and judge, but at the time, it looked like the right move. I am not sure what happened, but the program never really did improve. One of the places that has higher expectations than IU is Boston. They are currently the 5 seed in the conference. being competitive is not enough for Celtics fans. They are just 20-18 as of today. The timing may be just right for Stevens to start over somewhere else. No better place than Bloomington. When it comes to big named coaches, there just are not that many out there. There are a few other names if Stevens is not the guy. I think both Calbert Cheaney and Dane Fife have paid their dues. A name not mentioned much is Scott Drew. he has done well at Baylor and has them as a 1 seed this year. I hear Thad Matta's name thrown around. That one is intriguing. One other name I will throw out there......Tommy Amaker at Harvard. he has done well there for some time. If a culture change is needed, he would be good fit. What may be just as important this time around though, is names to avoid Topping that list is Rick Pitino; just WAY too much baggage. Next is Steve Alford.......while I was a fan of his as a player, I just don't believe he has ever shown he is a great head coach. My guess is that John Calipari's time at UK is coming to an end. I say stay away as I am not sure IU folks are willing to take the path that UK did to succeed. We still like to think of IU as an actual school still and not just a developmental system for the NBA; which is what UK became under Cal. John Beilein is next. He is 68 years old. Great coach, don't get me wrong, but can he commit to a complete rebuild of a program? The other names may have to deal with the "Archie hangover". Resume's look good right now, buuuuuuut. None of the names really make anyone think, this is a home run. The irony in this is that Kelvin Sampson will be coaching in the tournament at IU this week. I really liked him as a head coach. I did not like his willfulness to break the same rules that got him in trouble at Oklahoma. The crazy part is that what he was busted for is now legal in the NCAA. Bring him back to IU????
  8. So, you also have a psychology degree? You can interpret emotions based on typed words? WOW; you are amazing lol You can voice your opinion, but you seem to just expect everyone to follow along with your thinking and not be challenged on it lol So keep posting your opinions, but also be prepared for being called out on the stupidity of them as well. It's not a matter of my placing any faith in a local communities decisions, it's more about it being none of my business what communities choose to do with those funds. The fact of the matter is that the turf is ultimately a cost savings; and in many places sees a significant increase in usage outside of just one game that children play. Outside of that game, we have two junior high teams, two PAL teams, boys and girls high school soccer teams, two junior high soccer teams, our band, and our Physical Education classes. Many of those things did not happen when we had a grass field.
  9. No anger...just emphasizing the lie you posted, and pointing out the stupidity of your post. Local communities spending their tax dollars as they see fit.....non issue.
  10. That is a COMPLETE lie...NO ONE said they should be at the front of the line...what a stupid comment. Being prioritized does NOT equate to the front of the line. Also, the funding for the vaccine and funding for school projects are COMPLETELY different things. Now; enough with the asinine false equivalencies; back to the topic at hand. Way to hijack it though. Heaven forbid a local community decide something to upgrade their facilities AND maximize their usage, only to have some fake libertarian complaining about those local decisions.
  11. Al Gooden; currently at Lawrence Central
  12. First part taken care of https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2021/03/15/indiana-basketball-fires-coach-archie-miller-iu-hoosiers/4639088001/
  13. GREAT news from the Dairy Land.....Jones is staying in Green Bay https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31065476/green-bay-packers-keep-rb-aaron-jones-4-year-48-million-contract-agent-says?fbclid=IwAR1-CxzWNwPqnzdL78Gl5ILqUISUTFMMpuNtK1e9nypvPul0sXOq5mUd6Kk Thanks partly to Amos taking less money to stay as well.
  14. Fort teachers in Indiana (and my guess is this is the same in many other states since it is a part of the ALEC playbook restricting bargaining rights), not having evaluations as part of the contract is a HUGE deal. I would add that the reprimand process comes into play as well. Having to face an administrator with no representation can be quite a challenge. Having had people in both situations talk to me about their situations, it is interesting how quickly a non member wishes they had maintained their membership. In each of those cases, I have had to say sorry you are in a tough spot, but I cannot provide any help.
  15. Not sure how it works for private sector unions; plus there are a LOT of extra laws dictating contracts with teachers in Indiana; 79 pages to be exact. So, what happens at the start of a school year for bargaining....The local President send the Superintendent a notice of wanting to bargain in good faith along with a notice that the association has a team ready to discuss non contract issues. That notice also includes the number of members in the local. The Superintendent then notifies the IEERB (Indiana Education Employment Relations Board) who oversees all contracts to make certain they are compliant with State laws. The DOE will send out the financial information to both sides for the next two years (Coinciding with the State budget cycle). The association is also recognized as the exclusive representative of the district. The ISTA is not only made up of teachers, but nurses, bus drivers, ESP's, mechanics, maintenance and custodial staff each have their own association under the ISTA umbrella. As the exclusive representative, the board/district must bargain with that group. The first part of the contract identifies all members of the bargaining unit. Just who fits in that group is a locally decided thing, but if administration wants to remove a position from it, they have to notify the association ahead of time, along with the employees impacted, and all have to agree. We learned this one the hard way in our district. I tried explaining to my contact in administration that they would get "dinged" (found non compliant) if they did it. And as usual, I was right :) . As far as the bargaining unit goes, it does include members of the association and non members. Since the laws are so restrictive on contracts, there are no perks or extra benefits the members enjoy that non members don't. The fact is there are no perks or extra benefits. The things that were removed from bargaining must be discussed. In most cases, the district can basically do what they want, but if they do not present any changes to the discussion team, they can be slapped with a ULP (Unfair Labor Practice). If there are issues that teachers have that fall under this discussion umbrella, then only members get representation. Non members will not get representation. That includes things like a possible bad evaluation that a teacher may think is not fair; being reprimanded for whatever reason. SLIGHTLY less than the 79 page official document, but this is the gist of it.
  16. New Haven hires Kyle Booher as the next head coach. He has been an assistant in the program for 3 years now.
  17. Good move for the Colts....who knows; a fresh start may be good for Wentz. the Colts did not really give up much to get him either. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1362450149998546949?s=20
  18. I has been a LONG time since I checked in on this topic. I saw it come up again with a new post and my first thought was "how does one player garner 8 pages on this forum?" 😄
  19. The odds are more likely that Zionsville sees a drop off in competitiveness before BD does.
  20. I know it will never happen, but my wish for our district to consolidate to 1, MAYBE 2 high schools. One school would definitely make it a 6A school. Combine with Carroll, Homestead, Snider, Northrop, and even Warsaw, and another?, to form a solid 6A conference. I think doing so would allow the new school to offer more opportunities in sports that none of the schools currently have. Purely wishful thinking though, as each community is holding on to some long past identity.
  21. Yeah, have NEVER been a fan of Mel Kiper, and now Todd McShay is bad too. As a whole, I am not a fan of the sports talk scene; podcasts, radio shows, and even the TV shows. I watch on occasion because Lebatard's dad can be entertaining, and Kornheiser is ok too, but Andy Griffith on TVLand is much more fun to watch.
