  1. This coach spoke at the Indy Glazier clinic a few years ago. he starts off by saying, 'now we got the same kids y'all got' so this can work anywhere. Then as he goes through the film to show examples. he starts pointing to particular kids saying where they have offers.........there were a LOT of SEC offers on that roster. lol yeah, he has the same kids we do.
  2. Let the backtracking and damage control begin:
  3. I joke with friends that the renovation of Soldier Field was so hideous, it jinxed the team. 🤣
  4. I did find this on the UND site, claiming the Fighting Irish was official in 1927; changing it from the Ramblers. https://und.com/the-fighting-irish/#:~:text=Notre Dame competed under the,Notre Dame nickname in 1927. As far as the Cathedral side of the story, I would say the best bet is to reach out to Bill Peebles, the current head football coach. His family has been around the school for a LONG time. I know the person who shared the story with me worked at the school over 20 years ago, and now works at the IHSAA; Chris Kaufman.
  5. If it's true , it is just more proof he had this in mind for quite some time. For damage control, A A Ron needs to man up and say something. It makes it look even more petty if little stuff like this keeps leaking. AND, the fact is this is NOT coming from the Packers front office, just like I don't believe any of the leaks so far have.
  6. I just clicked on it. They are in 28. Maybe it was fixed this am?
  7. What stands out more to me than the 3 team sectionals in 6A is there is one 6 team sectional in 5A and several with just 4 teams. 37 teams in 5A is just odd.
  8. I would agree that if he felt that way then yes, he is a snowflake. But man, his performance on the field sure did not show that, in my mind. Buuuuut, part of me says he knew all along this was it for him in Green Bay. In fact, that ois beginning to sound more likely the case.
  9. It is rare that I agree with Cowherd, and the ONLY thing I agree with is that Aaron won't be back. First, the Packers did NOT "humiliate" him. If that is the case, that's on Aaron. Heir apparents, including him, are drafted regularly. What is rare is Aaron's reaction to it. While Favre openly said at the time it was not his job to work with Rodgers, he did stay. He HAS to know his career is close to being over. So what if Gutekunst did not communicate with you; get over it. It's a business at the end of the day. Just like, you have 3 years remaining on your contract A A Ron. Maybe the team did not give you enough weapons along the way, which is arguable, because they gave you that big ass contract. I also disagree with Cowherd when he says it was never a good fit. What a load of crap. What was NOT a good fit for many years was McCarthy being there for so much of Aaron's career. Regardless of what Colin says, personality type has NEVER mattered in Green Bay. Just show up when you are supposed to and play hard. The funny thing in all of this is that Aaron had his worst season in years as a Packer two seasons ago; so I am sure there was a sense of urgency to get a QB. Sure the got to the NFC Championship, but we knew going in just how much better Frisco was, and that it would take a miracle to win.
  10. There are a variety of reasons programs win; many of which have been covered here. While some have advantages of school size and socio economic factors, the one thing I have not seen mentioned recently (and NO, I am not going back to read this entire exchange) is the Jimmys and the Joes. Bring up the Center Grove title teams, and the simple fact is they had the dudes on the field to get it done. As far as enrollments go, there is no question that if you have 4,000 to 5,000 kids you have an advantage over a number of other programs; you got some dudes walking the halls. Again, that does not apply to EVERY school that size. there are too many other factors. I see North Central come up often. Too many dudes in recent years thought they were just one sport athletes, and had a coach in another sport that pushed that message. LN was in the same boat for a long time. Regardless of the overall size of any given school, many have the noncontributing population. While some buildings have a high special needs population, other schools have what I call dead weight (they have been my counter to the complaints about the success factor being based on what kids have done that are not a part of the program) that contribute nothing to the school. They are not even there to get an education, but their parents, guardian, or even their PO make them go. The real numbers; and this does go to good coaching as well, are in who comes out. CG may be smaller over all, but their program has similar numbers as the bigger schools on their roster. As I said earlier though; often times it is far more about the Jimmys and Joes than ANYTHING else.
  11. Another incredible story...hard to not root for this guy. Great pick for the Colts. https://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=31375379
  12. One issue is that Dallas has not really maximized his strengths. He has spent WAY too much time playing as an inside linebacker. he is an OLB/edge rusher, and always has been.
  13. I agree....and if I am Mark Murphy I say hey Brian, take a step back here for a couple years or so. He has to know that the best chance for Green Bay to win a super bowl is WITH A A Ron. and A A Ron HAS to know his best chance to win one is staying in Green Bay.
  14. Another story came out that it is between him and Gutekunst, and that he wants Gutekunst fired........Not exactly sure what the beef is, but this comes off as petty by Rodgers. He signs a huge contract, and while sure they moved up to get Love as a QB, he HAS to know that they had to get a QB at some point. June should be an interesting month. My concern, as a fan is what happens in the locker room. If Aaron is gone, I think the impact would be huge. What sucks in that scenario is the number of people getting caught up in a battle of egos. It could make LaFleur's life much more difficult. Aaron told Mike Tirico at the Derby that he was upset that this got out. It seems though that he was the one doing the talking.
  15. I LOVE stories like this. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/najee-harris-pittsburgh-steelers-running-back-homeless-shelter/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab6a&linkId=117569368&fbclid=IwAR3boYZqZbJaCHpOUDIulyVa5_n_PeJEIJWVOvjL9Fs-OdYx15rFR5HCXbo
  16. I think there were a couple of things that helped Brady though. Getting a couple of guys from NE that he was familiar with, and then Arians getting out of his way. Brady ran a variation of the Pats offense. Had Arians not let that happen, I think the Bucs were heading for disaster. Rodgers won't have teammates that are available to go with him wherever he may land, and will not likely have a HC or OC that will give him the kind of freedom Brady was given.
  17. Yeah....I am not even sure what the end game is for either side in this.is LaFleur really that anxious to move on from Rodgers? If so, WHY? And is Rodgers really that willing to play somewhere else? side note.....Tim Boyle is now in Detroit.
  18. Seems like it was a whole lot of noise about nothing. We have seen stranger things happen, but trading with a team this late in the first round, or later makes no sense. Part of me thinks someone let the story leak; the timing of this breaking today is just odd. The team President as well as the GM and the Head Coach each made individual trips to A A Ron's home in Cali and made no progress. So maybe the noise from today made both sides pause?
  19. Stories about specific games.......Back in the 1920's, Notre Dame was traveling to Bloomington. The team stopped in Indy. Rockne went to see Cathedral play (I believe it was against St. X from Cincy), and talked to the team prior to the game. Legend has it as well, that he heard Cathedral was nicknamed the Fighting Irish (At that time, ND was using "Ramblers" as their nickname) and since both schools were run by the same order of priests, decided the schools could share the name.
  20. Done follow up question.....is a team required to have at least 5 players on the line with a lineman's number during a normal play (excluding punts and FG/PAT)?
  21. Good question.....I think with the type of revenue that many of the top schools generate, to stay compliant with Title IX, they will be able to continue to fund those other sports. I was also thinking...wasn't it California that passed a law that allowed colleges to pay their athletes? Obviously, if schools chose to go that route, they would no longer be in the NCAA. I am guessing though it did lead to a number of conversations on campuses around the country. I am willing to bet that in our lifetime, the next 10-15 years, we will see some major changes coming.
  22. A great alum has passed Damn, he will be missed. SOOOOOOOO Many great memories of Slick RIP https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nba/pacers/2021/04/13/bobby-slick-leonard-hoosiers-and-pacers-icon-dies-88/4624895002/
  23. As an old fart, convenience is a HUGE plus. WC has an elevator to their pressbox. And it is both heated or has AC depending on what is needed. I have never coached a game at Franklin Central, but I know they have an elevator too. For climate control and space, Carmel’s is pretty nice as well. There are way too many places where getting through the crowd to pressbox is a HIGE P.I.T.A.
  24. No chance, and that likely comes from both sides. The IHSAA will tell him that CYO is off limits as far as being visible at games to see any possible talent. Those programs are viewed as feeders to the Catholic schools, so there is some latitude for HS coaches attending games. But no way CC actively recruits kids in Catholic schools or programs. One possibility for some exposure is if the CYO allowed CC teams to play like the do (or at least used to) with Heritage Christian. The only stipulation was no postseason games allowed for the HC teams. But I doubt HC gets kids from other CYO teams, so no reason to think CC will.
