  1. So, you also have a psychology degree? You can interpret emotions based on typed words? WOW; you are amazing lol You can voice your opinion, but you seem to just expect everyone to follow along with your thinking and not be challenged on it lol So keep posting your opinions, but also be prepared for being called out on the stupidity of them as well. It's not a matter of my placing any faith in a local communities decisions, it's more about it being none of my business what communities choose to do with those funds. The fact of the matter is that the turf is ultimately a cost savings; and in many places sees a significant increase in usage outside of just one game that children play. Outside of that game, we have two junior high teams, two PAL teams, boys and girls high school soccer teams, two junior high soccer teams, our band, and our Physical Education classes. Many of those things did not happen when we had a grass field.
  2. No anger...just emphasizing the lie you posted, and pointing out the stupidity of your post. Local communities spending their tax dollars as they see fit.....non issue.
  3. That is a COMPLETE lie...NO ONE said they should be at the front of the line...what a stupid comment. Being prioritized does NOT equate to the front of the line. Also, the funding for the vaccine and funding for school projects are COMPLETELY different things. Now; enough with the asinine false equivalencies; back to the topic at hand. Way to hijack it though. Heaven forbid a local community decide something to upgrade their facilities AND maximize their usage, only to have some fake libertarian complaining about those local decisions.
  4. Al Gooden; currently at Lawrence Central
  5. First part taken care of https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2021/03/15/indiana-basketball-fires-coach-archie-miller-iu-hoosiers/4639088001/
  6. GREAT news from the Dairy Land.....Jones is staying in Green Bay https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31065476/green-bay-packers-keep-rb-aaron-jones-4-year-48-million-contract-agent-says?fbclid=IwAR1-CxzWNwPqnzdL78Gl5ILqUISUTFMMpuNtK1e9nypvPul0sXOq5mUd6Kk Thanks partly to Amos taking less money to stay as well.
  7. Fort teachers in Indiana (and my guess is this is the same in many other states since it is a part of the ALEC playbook restricting bargaining rights), not having evaluations as part of the contract is a HUGE deal. I would add that the reprimand process comes into play as well. Having to face an administrator with no representation can be quite a challenge. Having had people in both situations talk to me about their situations, it is interesting how quickly a non member wishes they had maintained their membership. In each of those cases, I have had to say sorry you are in a tough spot, but I cannot provide any help.
  8. Not sure how it works for private sector unions; plus there are a LOT of extra laws dictating contracts with teachers in Indiana; 79 pages to be exact. So, what happens at the start of a school year for bargaining....The local President send the Superintendent a notice of wanting to bargain in good faith along with a notice that the association has a team ready to discuss non contract issues. That notice also includes the number of members in the local. The Superintendent then notifies the IEERB (Indiana Education Employment Relations Board) who oversees all contracts to make certain they are compliant with State laws. The DOE will send out the financial information to both sides for the next two years (Coinciding with the State budget cycle). The association is also recognized as the exclusive representative of the district. The ISTA is not only made up of teachers, but nurses, bus drivers, ESP's, mechanics, maintenance and custodial staff each have their own association under the ISTA umbrella. As the exclusive representative, the board/district must bargain with that group. The first part of the contract identifies all members of the bargaining unit. Just who fits in that group is a locally decided thing, but if administration wants to remove a position from it, they have to notify the association ahead of time, along with the employees impacted, and all have to agree. We learned this one the hard way in our district. I tried explaining to my contact in administration that they would get "dinged" (found non compliant) if they did it. And as usual, I was right :) . As far as the bargaining unit goes, it does include members of the association and non members. Since the laws are so restrictive on contracts, there are no perks or extra benefits the members enjoy that non members don't. The fact is there are no perks or extra benefits. The things that were removed from bargaining must be discussed. In most cases, the district can basically do what they want, but if they do not present any changes to the discussion team, they can be slapped with a ULP (Unfair Labor Practice). If there are issues that teachers have that fall under this discussion umbrella, then only members get representation. Non members will not get representation. That includes things like a possible bad evaluation that a teacher may think is not fair; being reprimanded for whatever reason. SLIGHTLY less than the 79 page official document, but this is the gist of it.
  9. New Haven hires Kyle Booher as the next head coach. He has been an assistant in the program for 3 years now.
  10. Good move for the Colts....who knows; a fresh start may be good for Wentz. the Colts did not really give up much to get him either. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1362450149998546949?s=20
  11. I has been a LONG time since I checked in on this topic. I saw it come up again with a new post and my first thought was "how does one player garner 8 pages on this forum?" 😄
  12. The odds are more likely that Zionsville sees a drop off in competitiveness before BD does.
  13. I know it will never happen, but my wish for our district to consolidate to 1, MAYBE 2 high schools. One school would definitely make it a 6A school. Combine with Carroll, Homestead, Snider, Northrop, and even Warsaw, and another?, to form a solid 6A conference. I think doing so would allow the new school to offer more opportunities in sports that none of the schools currently have. Purely wishful thinking though, as each community is holding on to some long past identity.
  14. Yeah, have NEVER been a fan of Mel Kiper, and now Todd McShay is bad too. As a whole, I am not a fan of the sports talk scene; podcasts, radio shows, and even the TV shows. I watch on occasion because Lebatard's dad can be entertaining, and Kornheiser is ok too, but Andy Griffith on TVLand is much more fun to watch.
  15. People forget he only played a handful of games in the undefeated seasons. AND, he had 2 1,000 yard rushers in Csonka and Morris. It was an unreal team....even Earl Morrall at something like 60 years old at the time could not screw it up. :)
  16. Why not, right? It seems to be one of the more popular topics regardless of the forum.
  17. A friend of mine from Indy still questions Bob Griese getting in.
  18. I don't think that is what he meant. What he is saying, and I agree, is that this particular part of this website is reserved for high school football topics. While this particular topic creates a lot of good discussion, it is better suited to be had in Muda's playground, aka the OOB 2.0
  19. I am guessing it is the same thing I hinted at in the exchange about the NH coaching opening and why it seems we underachieve; and it is likely a part of why HN will never join the SAC.
  20. Any evidence to this point would be interesting to see. Brevard leaving may be the exception. Kolkman was forced out due to some reshuffling in the cash grab known as Race to the Top (aka Dash for the Cash). I am not sure what happened with Ryan Hall, but he did not go anywhere after North Side; at least that I am aware of. Also curious why you picked Huntington to move from the NE8 to the SAC, and not Leo? East Noble, I get, and that may actually be a good move for them.
