  1. The 3 Stooges, Grambling State, and Arizona State Marching Bands another great picture....two great football minds.
  2. On this date in 1967....Super Bowl 1 I can only imagine the profanity laced jabs back and forth....especially knowing McGee is really hungover lol
  3. wellllllll, that was fun reading. I think this topic has run its course....If anyone wants to start one without all the back and forth stuff, go ahead. Enjoy your weekend gentlemen.
  4. Just saw it on twitter...best of luck to Ty. We started teaching in Catholic schools the same year and became great friends over the years. I was even able to spend two seasons under Boz at Ritter where Ty and I were assistants together.
  5. After reading about the name change from Rebels to Royals for Roncalli, I was curious if there were other nicknames from previous eras that are no longer in use. Out of curiosity, I opened this article of nicknames and logos no longer in use. It is not what I had intended to find, but thought it was a fun, lighthearted read....enjoy. One thought occurred.....what if the New England team from the Arena Football League had moved to Cleveland; would they have to change their nickname? 😄 It's about halfway down the article for those that are curious. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/723274-land-of-the-dead-22-of-the-greatest-logos-of-defunctdeparted-franchises Others??? I was a bit surprised the Indianapolis Racers did not make the list....I mean damn, the Quebec Nordiques did.
  6. Well that is one way to get the Purdue logo in an arena with banners....yep, I went there. 🤣 gotta have somethin to laugh at.
  7. I agree.........and with very little ability to have much depth, it makes it even more challenging. Players think, "Yeah, like you are going to bench me".
  8. I would exclude Switzer though. That was Jimmy's team still, and they were LOADED. Had Jerry kept Jimmy, Lord knows how many that group could have won. I agree with Bob though, the success rate equals out for the most part. There really is not an indicator of who will be successful and who will not be. Heck, Holmgren was a high school teacher and coach going to the league.
  9. As it should be....but it seems others are not so interested in doing so.
  10. I was thinking Cardinals woulda been cool, since Roncalli was a Cardinal.
  11. Nice job hijacking the topic.....If you want to continue with the accusations of something that would be illegal (age discrimination) do NOT use this forum and it expose it in such a manner. If you want to continue a public dialogue about age discrimination accusations, I will let our administration know so they can prepare for legal action. I am willing to bet the coach you are referring to is not a big fan of you making it an issue for all to see either. My guess is his employer would not be too thrilled either. Your call champ.
  12. Tonight's game against Purdue was just bad. Purdue is an average team, and they dominated IU. Purdue has won 11 of the last 12. Most of the guys on the floor for IU are just not B1G caliber. The toughest part of the schedule is coming too. No chance IU makes the tournament. Even if they have a strong stretch run here, does making the tournament even matter? How far has the program dropped where fans are just hopeful they make the tournament? I have not been overly critical of Archie over his time as coach, but something is seriously off with the program.
  13. Herby did raise questions about Lawrence. But I think it's a no brainer for them.
  14. With 100% certainty, it was NOT age discrimination. It is sad to see that it was implied.
  15. Urban Meyer is the new Jacksonville head coach. I have heard him speak at clinic talks. He is an outstanding speaker, and it was easy to see why he did so well on the collegiate level. But, in the NFL, the playing field is more balanced, in talent and in pay. :) It will be interesting to see how this plays out. This is a move for the Jags front office to say we want to win right NOW. They should have a great draft. But he is not a long term solution. He may stay for 3 years. Each year beyond that, regardless of his contract length, is icing on the cake.
  16. This season seems so similar to previous years. I think Jackson Davis has made a big improvement in his game. My only concern for him is that it seems a couple times EVERY game, he has to yell "Get me the F*****G BALL!!!!. When they get the ball into him, it sets up the outside game much better than just passing around the perimeter and having guys standing around. There are times they do elevate the compete level. I like the young guys on the bench; they play hard, especially on defense when they get in. Archie has sat the starters a few times to try to motivate them. They still struggle with consistency. Funny side note. I saw on ESPN they have 40-1 odds of winning the championship. You know who else has the same odds? UK.....when was the last time IU and KY had the same odds to win a title? lol
  17. Why is the link about panic buttons being removed from a representative's office? lol Only an anecdote here, but several years ago, the new President at Butler started talking about cutting out the football program. The overwhelming sentiment, after he did his research was the harm it would do to the school. The decision top keep it was more about the male population on campus. I am hopeful that schools will wait to get through these couple of years. The changes in scheduling due to the virus threw a lot of things off kilter. Allowing athletes another year of eligibility is doing more to hurt the current class of HS seniors more than anything. If there is an impact, I think it will be the small schools. I am thinking of a place like Manchester here in Northern Indiana. I am not sure what their financial situation is though. It just seems it is a program that struggles on the field regularly. Places like Trine, DePauw, Wabash, and Rose Hulman, to name a few, likely have healthy budgets due to active alumni associations.
  18. Hsitorically, ND has done it just for bowl games. I am not sure about other programs. One issue colleges have is having a number used by two players on the roster. That may factor into why some teams put the names on now. We had name plates on ours at Warren Central. We were able to buy our jerseys after our senior season....$10 I think is what we paid. It's funny how they shrink though, just sitting in storage.
  19. This year was tough sledding for them from the jump. Our ILB is a MAC level player, but there is so much uncertainty among so many programs about what they would have available for offers, he has not had many follow through with an offer.
  20. Seems like the Bears may be missing some opportunities to keep the status quo.....They could have Watson as a QB...but seem committed to Trubisky. And now, with Doug Pederson out of a job, they could have him as a head coach. He got a raw deal in Philly. Hell, even McCarthy could ride the wave of a Super Bowl for 9 years. And he is not a good coach. :)
  21. Warren Central used to be burnt orange and gold. The thinking was to pick a combination of two colors not used in the area. I am not certain when they changed to black and old gold though.
  22. Question for the officials......did you happen to notice the Bama o linemen down field often when they threw the ball? Especially on RPO's? One of them was actually kind of comical....looked like #65 ran a drag route with Jones throwing to the slant receiver behind him. 😄 As a line coach, I am not a fan of RPO's........there are several concepts that are counter intuitive to what linemen are taught. Watching the film room, the 4 coaches there were commenting regularly on it. I watched a highlight video and Herbstreit even mentioned it. Do you guys see that on the high school level much?
  23. Thank travel ball and the big schools for where we are now though.
  24. Stepp is a RB from Cathedral....went to USC; had a decent career. He played really well against ND last year. Odd that he is going to Nebraska though. The program just seems to be stuck. When I first saw a picture of him, it looked like a Wisconsin uniform.
