Illegal shift is likely the call on the offense as having a guy moving early would be a whistle before the snap, or if it is snapped, the play is whistled dead. Live ball penalty on both teams results in offsetting penalties, replay the down.

The TD drive was a good one, but just not a fan of what Rees is trying to do. JUST missed what would have been a huge play before the half. Defense is ok, I just question many of the stunts; bringing guys from a long way on the blitz and they are just not getting close. Pass coverage is soft too.

For the teams that don't have their own topic. Texas Alabama was fun to watch. I guess they both could not lose lol I was telling friends during the game that Texas settling for 2 FG's and missing another when they had great drives or field position was going to bite them. The penalties.......so many flags; all good calls, but I don't ever remember a Bama team being that undisciplined. Texas' defense is really good. Bama's pass defense struggled. But Texas could not take advantage like they should have. Does Bama stay at 1? I say they do, but we shall see.

Interesting....so 2 differences compared to Indiana's. Here it's 35, and the score does not matter once that threshhold is crossed.

I will take a stab......Seeing that you did not include where the hold was (what yard line....just seems like that would be important), my guess is the hold and the PF offset, and the B Coach gets flagged for interfering, or whatever the exact call is, so mark that one off.

O line was bad......and honestly, the play calling was bad.....no adjustments for picking up blitzes, no recognoition by receivers to shorten routes with that much blitzing. And no halftime adjustments. Mayer could have been a bigger factor. Defense played really well, but just on the field too long. Stroud got hot and was tough to beat....using his legs to keep plays alive was huge. But THE difference was the OSU O Line.

yep...definitely is a call. That said, in the pregame meeting between the head coach and officials, possible trick plays should be part of the conversation in that meeting. It is the responsibility of the head coach to mention that play, and it would have been at that point the officials could have provided some insight on the deception. Is every official going to make that call? I would guess no.
-
That was an odd call....just looked like the officials were not on the same page. The telling the QB to wait moved away too soon.

Penn vs Cathedral

Specific injuries and players named is a no no, unless you are the parent....thanks -
Gritty performance by the Hoosiers. The o line will be a question mark. But Bazelak brings some stability to the QB position they have not had in a couple years. They have to do a better job of running the ball and tackling on defense. Now there are a couple games with Idahoe and Western KY they should win before going to Cincy.

This game for Purdue is huge. I also think it is for Penn State. It seems PS needs a good start to the season or they struggle the rest of the way. I felt the OT loss at IU set the tone for them a couple years ago. For Purdue, a huge stage for the home opener. Start off well will build confidence. I think the West division is wide open; who knows what can happen. If Purdue wins tonight, I would consider them to be in the hunt.

Is that a problem for you? I think I clearly explained why we have the guidelines in place.

It is not unusual for the IHSAA to determine a field is not suited for play. The judgment is usually about grass field that are in bad shape due to a lot of use and rain. I am curious if this has been a part of any discussions on North Meridian.

Turf 2020 and Beyond

Our field was the first in the area to get them, so we got them at half price. But, they are LED lights, and cost savings from use is huge compared to the old lights, We were even able to remove a pole from the setup on each side, and it uses fewer bulbs. -
NIL and High School Athletics

This was a year ago. And Ewers left Ohio State at the end of last school year and will play for Texas.....this year......or will be on the roster at least. -
For those who feel strongly enough that rumors should be allowed on the site, keep in mind a couple things. 1. These standards were the same standards that Tim Adams, the creator of this site had in place. 2. This is HIGH SCHOOL football, not college or pro football where athletes and coaches are paid very well to do what they do. We are talking about kids, teachers, and parents. Posting rumors of those people puts indivi9duals in a spotlight that they do not necessarily deserve. As far injury rumors, every student has a right to privacy. Posting of possible injuries to specific players without their knowing is a significant violation of their right to privacy. This is not the place to break news. If there is a story or a public post from an injured player or a parent of one, or if there is a news story...ok. Feel free to discuss that here. TA actually limited the discussion on coaching rumors; but mostly from the standpoint of coaching jobs. The change came when a parent saw a post on this site about a possible candidate he thought had interviewed. That coach's current employer was informed of it, and called the coach in to discuss it. A coach should NEVER be put in that position because f what is posted on the site. Again, keep in mind the vast majority of coaches are getting paid pennies per hour for the work they do. There are coaches' families to consider in these spots as well. Other rumors about coaches can create problems as well. I would suggest people look up terms like libel and slander. Again, if there is a news story, a public statement from the coach or district about a topic, post away. Perfect example of this is the story about Hammond Morton. No rumors, and it included a link to the story. But the one that was posted that prompted me posting this was a BIG deal. Not sure how it plays out when the dust settles, but it is important for a story of that magnitude to wait for confirmed sources. Typically, if your post starts with " I heard...." think about it before hitting submit. Hopefully that clarifies things even for those who have read the first post here and wondered what was up. In many cases, like the one that led to me posting the reminder is hidden or deleted before many have seen it. As always, if you have a question feel free to send a message. Now, if you feel so strongly that these standards are wrong, you can let us know that as well, and we can work through a solution, agree to disagree, or take other needed/warranted steps.

2008 at USC the spread was 32.5 points. I am willing to bet that is the highest they have seen. Here is a crazy one though...in 2007, they were dogs at Purdue at +21.5.

What is going on at Cardinal Ritter?
Irishman replied to BigBrebeufFan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Back in the 90's these schools charged a rate for kids from parishes in the deanery, and a higher rate for kids outside the deanery. It was an attempt to limit this type of thing from becoming too wide spread. I am not sure if that is still in place? -
If you have a news story or link to an actual story, like in the case of Hammond Morton, it's ok to post. But to just post "I heard....." regardless of what the topic is......is not acceptable on this site.

Not really a sports thing, but too funny to not share.

Did the running clock not start in the first half? It was my understanding that was a change from the original mercy rule. -
He also missed a few that have been wide open. I agree about Etling.
