  2. As I posted earlier, the timing of the name change was planned to be just ahead of the real story with this organization. Sure enough, people are still talking more about the name than they are all the other allegations.
  3. Yep, add in that varsity game days cannot count toward those 10 practice days. The scrimmage cannot count either.
  4. The difference in those two is that in season, the student will have been in school as well. So contact tracing will show more people have been exposed. That said, the possibility still exists in both cases that the kid got it at home. Some schools are saying that there is a possibility if a kid at school has it, that not everyone in the room will need to be quarantined. Administration will look at who was in close contact first and isolate those people.
  5. This is likely the most inaccurate statement regarding one side of the discussion on the entire thread. From the first line, no one who wants to wait until there are more safety considerations in place thinks kids will stay apart. No one has ever mentioned that there is an unrealistic expectation that kids will isolate. The comparisons you are trying to make here are apples and oranges. What kids do outside for a few hours a day with a handful of friends, is NOTHING like being in a classroom 7 hours a day for 5 days a week, with central air with 30 or so other kids, in a building with a few hundred other kids.
  6. I give no credence to online petitions honestly. I have never signed one, regardless. That said, I think the petition itself and school folks are far more focused on local and State elections than federal, especially in Indiana, and this year since the next Governor gets to appoint the next Superintendent of Public Instruction. The board is already tipped far enough in the wrong direction. That focus was in place even prior to the outbreak.
  7. I think you have to separate scared and concerned as well. There are some due to health issues who are legitimately scared to go back. Most all would love to go back, but many are concerned that nowhere near enough is being done for a safe return. I would add I am not just referring to teachers and staff that are in the buildings. This includes parents, family at home, and the local communities as well. Sure we can say it will never be 100% safe anywhere we go, and schools are no exception, but this thing is different.
  8. It appears the idea of the name change is timed to cover up some absolutely crazy shiiiiiiiii....stuff about the organization. Wow It has been a few days since the leaks started, but in case you have not seen them.
  9. Still kicking myself that I left out the Foo Fighters. Damn Dave F’ing Grohl is a badass. He may be one of the best all around musicians in music today. They put on a fantastic live show.
  10. It does not override local decisions. School districts still have the choice to allow kids to play or not.
  11. Was not sure which of the fifty or so threads that are going now about the start of the year/season. 🤣https://www.wibc.com/news/local-indiana/ihsaa-to-allow-schools-offering-virtual-classes-to-still-participate-in-fall-sports/
  12. I may not have agreed with some thing Lewis said, it is undeniable where his heart was. I can admire a man who went through the things he did, and what he was willing to give up for his convictions. RIP
  13. Exactly...it is BEYOND ridiculous for anyone to think that anyone here is hoping for a "doomsday". To say football will happen "whether you like it or not" is ridiculous as well. There is not one person here who wants football, or athletics to shut down. Every one of us would love to see the season go off without a hitch. It is just that some disagree with each other about what is happening now. And some......*cough* @DannEllenwood *cough* are just far more optimistic than most. :) I would LOVE to be able to be close to as optimistic.
  14. If ISSMA operates close to what athletics do (I am guessing they do since it is under the umbrella of NFHS), that there is a level of liability insurance that comes with being a member. Having unsponsored events would mean that the risk falls completely on the school if something were to happen.
  15. I am not a fan of a decision like this happening at the State level. If a local community and/or school board decides like we are seeing with sports and schools, then ok. I am sad for the kids in all of those situations, but it still should be a local call.
  16. Nobody has disputed what you said in the first couple of lines. As far as the knot being used, I made those same comments. Regardless of when it was put there, why use a noose? It is a difficult knot to put together. I am not sure why any type of slip knot would be used. Pull on it to pull the door closed, and the loop tightens, and would squeeze the hand. 3 half hitches or some other knot that locks when pulled on makes far more sense. I do think some confuse the name of the knot with the purpose. Looking at the knot in the NASCAR picture, it is a noose knot. Just because there was no intent to use it as an actual noose does not equate to it not being a noose. I hope you are wrong about his driving ability. The fact is that there actually are a lot of average no name drivers on the circuit. The series is struggling to find the big names it has had in previous years. One could make the claim that even some of the well known drivers were not great drivers. I love Dale Junior, but no one can say he had a spectacular career. Solid, sure, but is he one of the greats of all time? As a team, Petty racing has not been relevant for decades now. King Richard was my favorite growing up, and it puzzles meto see how much his team has struggled for so long. I hope he does not become a Kaepernick. NASCAR cannot afford to let that happen. If it does, and it appears many of his critics will not let up on him, he very well may leave the sport. Good luck getting another black driver into the series, much less NASCAR.
  17. Complete BS.....I love the game of football, and see that they took a stand. 27th year of coaching the game after playing 5th through 12th grade, I still love the game, so you could not be more wrong on that point. You and I being here in the Northeastern part of the State have no say whatsoever in what Washington Township does, Nor are we any where near the decision makers to understand why they chose this path.
  18. The fact that you referred to a study that ended on April 1st, and the fact that you were using a study from Iceland to further your point as if the same study would be applicable in the US, is all we needed to know. Funny that you ignored an article about the spread of covid in several camps around the country...but that is just opinion as well, right? By the way; if you go to the actual study, I highlighted the last paragraph. You know...because "opinions" matter more than selective facts.
  19. So this, and the other camp outbreaks listed in the article are anomalies? https://www.macon.com/news/coronavirus/article244158667.html Also, it's funny you point to a study in Iceland. I strongly suggest you look a little deeper into exactly what Iceland did because it would have never happened in the US; especially when it comes to surveillance and contact tracing.
  20. Or maybe he just left an impression with people looking for a reason to continue to attack or be critical of him??? Bottom line is for those people, there is absolutely nothing he could have said to change their minds about him.
  21. Growing up I am not sure I had a favorite, but there were several I liked, The Stones, Queen, Styx, Boston, and Aerosmith. I am sure I am missing a couple. Once the 80’s came U2 became my favorite. The Unforgettable Fire is a great album, but the Joshua Tree is an epic album. Still listen to a lot of that old stuff as I play music from my phone when I drive. I rarely listen to the radio any more.
