  1. Thank you. I don't pay anything and it shows up. Interesting. Thank you for the heads up for whenever I do lose the freebie. So Dwenger loses both DC and OC? Probably not a problem. https://www.wane.com/high-school-sports/kolkman-to-lead-alma-mater-as-head-football-coach-at-heritage/

  3. Okay, it has been my experience in the schools and businesses that I've taught and worked in that no matter who is at the top, they are generally looking to make the best decisions based on their own interests. Any questions? Happy to answer the best I can. I may not match wits with you, apparently.
  4. That's not my best choice of words. I've worked with and for a lot of great administrators. They get their own way, generally, and most of the time. As my daughters say, periodt. No, not really. Just a poor choice of words on my part. I've taught with great people in great schools in three different countries and cultures, but as mentioned above, everyone looks out for themselves. Hoosiers are no different. I've sat through school closings and coaches being moved and got to see some real slimy things in both from top admins. You can have your rosy glasses. I'll keep mine realistic.
  5. Hmmm. DeSantis had his way for years. Others will chime in, or won't. The PPP's were thrown together for years in the Indy area. Jimtown was pushed down towards Fort Wayne. There are others in other areas. People lobby and boundaries are moved. People are crooked.
  6. I think that it is more than an exception. It is still largely a networking thing rather than done by data.
  7. Well, don't you spend earn a living finding loopholes and differing interpretations? Is that cynical? Look back at the manipulation. I've also heard fun stories about coaches stealing things and publishing things. The internet makes it harder to cheat now. You can learn a lot if you just sit back and listen to ADs and administrators. You can also see how hirings work and networking. The good ol' boy network is alive and well in Hoosierland.
  8. This makes more sense to me than anything. http://trackfootballconsortium.com/the-death-of-football-fast-and-track-speed/
  9. I've worked in schools long enough to find that 100% believable. Among the most laughable were the Jimtown/Bremen separations when Bremen had an influence in the IHSAA.
  10. Quote from the report: Good matchups and good weather are always key to the football tournament attendance. Please seed the sectionals. Use good, neutral stadiums such as Ohio. https://ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/about ihsaa/minutes/2019-20/011620.pdf?ver=2020-01-20-155604-767
  11. This is exceptionally and especially true. Why is it even being brought up to not be the guy? Some administrators are the worst...some are the best... for sports.
  12. He made it twice with Harding and once with Woodlan. I think he's lost two state finals in the last few minutes by a combined 6 points or so. He's not afraid to take lumps to teach and develop kids.

  15. Young man is coaching in college now.
  16. Understand perfectly, except the third sentence. I know lots of track guys who would wilt on the football field, but I'm just a high school teacher, so maybe they aren't real track guys.
  17. But what if the football speed is only good for 10-15 yards? Is that something that isn't good for track? I mean really, that wouldn't do anything for track.
  18. Can of worms opened. I think we know what you're saying (At least I do!). I've seen fast track guys be horrible at other sports and I've seen slow guys tear it up on the court and field in other sports with technique, training, and/or an innate ability to do things. Heck, I can promise a bag of chips and the MAP scores miraculously go up. 🙂
  19. Truly, I wish soccer was a spring sport. There are athletes on the pitch that could help the football team and vice versa.
  20. I think Dwenger will only get better. Right off the top of my head, they have Garrett, Watts, and Kolkman, who have all been head coaches. They are only going to get better.
  21. Tough hours. Little support. Not as prestigious anymore. Pay may be lower than you think. Not an admin job in many places.
  22. Dwenger has several head coaches on staff. That helps a lot. When Luers had that, they won several state championships.
