A Love Letter to the HOOSIER CONFERENCE
foxbat replied to Coach Nowlin's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Getting the plaque was the second best thing of those nights. One of the cool things about GID is that you sometimes get to meet the guys you jaw with online all season in person for a beer! Looking forward to the next time Coach. -
Post 2A is about the time they start serving beer?

Really gets rocking around the 2:45 mark. I feel the sense of possibilities, I feel the wrench of hard realities. -

Interesting flex given that Indy's crime rate per 100K is higher than Chicago's. https://www.security.org/resources/most-dangerous-cities/ -

Words I consistently heard in the stands last week from Harrison fans about Roncalli included "disciplined," "well-coached," "well-oiled," "not prone to mistakes," "effective," "forceful," and "solid." Would concur. -

Yes, LCC's enrollment is around 302 during the last classification, so they have 1A enrollment. This would put them at the 275th smallest enrollment for Indiana football. For reference, 1A currently holds the 250-314 smallest schools. For additional reference, it would put LCC just below NJSP and just above Monroe Central. Other notables ... without meaning to slight any that I miss ... above LCC's enrollment, in 1A, include LaVille [373], South Adams [357], Sheridan [336], and Carroll [321]. Of note is that, for a long time, LCC and Pioneer were pretty close to each other in enrollments with Pioneer typically the "larger" of the two schools. Pioneer's enrollment is still fairly close to where LCC and Pioneer were back in the glory days of #1 vs. #2 right around 286. Given that they drew Seeger for Round 1, that there are probably at least 4-5 teams in that sectional with better odds of getting out than LCC, and given LCC only got 1 SF point last season, they are pretty likely to be heading down to 1A next season. -

Thinking the same thing, but barely escaping a 2-6 LCC squad by a TD just seems to whisper "early exit." -

Will be an interesting game. Chatard beat Roncalli early in the season 33-11. Against common foe, Harrison, the outings seemed to indicate a flip. Chatard, while in control of the Harrison game, for the most part, was still only up by 7 with just around 4 minutes to go in the game when they stretched the lead to 10 with a field goal. They had a 7-point lead going into the half too. By contrast, the Harrison-Roncalli game was over pretty much 3 minutes into the 2nd half where Roncalli led 23-0 going 3-for-3 on their initial possessions and grabbing a safety. Royals led 36-7 at the half and turned it into a running clock on their first possession of the 3rd quarter. While the final score says 57-20, it wasn't that close ... Harrison's final 6 points came on the last play of the game on a long pass. No PAT was attempted as time expired and the PAT wouldn't have mattered. One thing I noticed, which might be a difference item, is that Jarvis didn't have any rushing yards in the game against Chatard although he did have 3 receptions for 43 yards. Ash, the QB had the most rushing yards against Chatard with 79 yards on 17 carries and a TD. Against Harrison, Jarvis had 146 yards on 19 carries with 3 TDs. Ash had 11 carries for 76 yards and a TD as well. Jarvis is listed at 201 lbs. and 6'1". Not sure why he didn't carry the ball in the earlier game against Chatard, but he may well be a difference maker in a rematch. -
That's @Donnie Baker with those Zimas.

Offer to spring for a dinner of Wagonmasters and then head over to the Silver Dollar for some chutes and ladders and some beers. I bet he'd take you up on that. Might even get CJB to join in.

Roncalli 3 for 4 on possessions. Harrison with a 47-yard TD pass. 23-7 with 6:42 left in Q2.

Roncalli is 2 for 2 on possessions plus a safety.

Edinburgh cancels the rest of their season

I don't think Trinity Lutheran did 8-man, but you might be thinking of Traders Point Christian which played back in 2023 and 2024? -

That's kind of what I thought ... the issue of travel. For some of these communities that might benefit from 8-man, the problem that they may have is getting those guys to a season of games where you are traversing the state. -
Like college, the cost to attend, tuition and fees, tends to be a set amount ... although that set amount might depend on whether you are a parishioner or in the diocese. What your net cost ends up being is tied to things like: vouchers ... whether you get one or not is tied to income level and size of family scholarships ... a decent portion of which, in many p/ps are need-based, so tied to income grants ... some of which are need-based, so tied to income parish/diocesan discounts ... some of these are tied to just being a parishioner while others might be tied to level of activity in the parish number of direct family members attending the school or in the school system donor payments - these are also sometimes need-based If the actual question is how many kids go to p/p for free, it's probably a smaller number than rumors might claim it is. From experience, albeit only in elementary school settings, we had just the parish discount and the number of kids in the system discount. This was before vouchers were a thing. So we ended up paying most of the sticker price.

Here's a current list based on MaxPreps. Faith Cristian played there the last couple of seasons, but started with 11-main last season. A couple of familiar names on this list that played 11-man ball at one time in IHSAA. -
