  1. Thanks @WCGrad92 for spearheading things and getting everyone up and running so quickly to get these out ... thanks also to the voters who responded so quickly.
  2. Probably would award the sectional. Think about regular seasons. Let's take fictitious scenario using a real sectional from last season. Note that this is all hypothetical and I'm not insinuating anything about the programs. In Sectional 46, Park Tudor had a bye in the first round. They played Indiana School for the Deaf in Round 2. School for the Deaf had a roster of around 20. If they had injuries during the season and in that first round game lost enough players to injury to make round two impossible, they would have had to forfeit the second round game. Park Tudor would advance to the sectional final against Indy Lutheran. They play Indy Lutheran and lose, but it comes out that Indy Lutheran had an ineligible player playing in that game. I would expect that Indy Lutheran would have been forced to forfeit that game. Park Tudor would move on to regionals without a win in any of the three games in the sectionals. Yes, it's far-fecthed that it would happen that way, but I suspect that they would be award the sectional trophy and play for the regional title.
  3. Not to mention the Immaculate interception game the season before when both teams were undefeated going into that game.
  4. Some. In the Lafayette/West Lafayette area, for youth football, here's what's happening: 1A LCC - For this season, not engaging in tackle youth football outside of likely having some clinics with the high school. Not self-contained. Might look at activity 6A Jeff - To my understanding pushing their tackle youth season to spring. They are a self-contained program, but might be looking into playing LCC in the future. 5A Harrison - Pushing their tackle youth season to spring. They are a self-contained program although they sometimes play with WL. 5A McCutcheon - Only has flag football at the youth level. Appear to be going ahead with flag football ... they are a self-contained program. 3A West Lafayette - To my understanding, debating between a clinic approach and possibly 7-on-7 self-contained. In the past, they have tended to play with Harrison. 1A Faith Christian - Doesn't play football at youth level nor at high school level.
  5. I'm probably only good for 1A this season, so I'll sit this one out if you need a commitment for folks who can do all six classes. On the other hand, if you are running short and need someone to fill in for 1A, let me know.
  6. 1 Point Games Tipton @ Madison - Grant Twin Lakes @ Northwestern 2 Point Game Delphi @ Benton Central Lafayette Jeff @ West Lafayette Pioneer @ Cass Rensselaer @ Kankakee Valley Logansport @ Peru Marion @ Eastbrook Western @ Kokomo 3 Point Games Caston @ West Central Covington @ South Vermillion Triton @ South Central
  7. COVID temporary stop for a couple of weeks or permanent for the season?
  8. Looks like West Lafayette and Harrison won't be scrimmaging tonight. Thought I saw that LCC and Frankfort are off too for their scrimmage.
  9. I think you are correct. Just like what happened with youth baseball this summer and what's happening with youth football. My boys' travel baseball teams stayed intact this summer and picked up games with other programs that stayed intact and found USSSA or local tournaments that had enough teams compete to make it viable for tournaments to still function. In some cases, there might only be a total of five teams in a division whereas, in the past there may have been a dozen, and the tournament would run just a couple of days instead of three or even four days, but they played. In this case, for the season, you leave it to the teams to schedule their own games and handle their own delays/cancellations/etc. By the time the regular season ends, you take a look at the landscape. It may end up that it's an unofficial post-season that doesn't see a state tourney or an abbreviated tourney where you see something like something up to regionals or maybe even starting with modified regionals that turns into something more like a bowl series or, if everyone's still standing, you move forward with the state tourney. If no one's left standing, then it looks kind of like some youth baseball leagues looked this past summer ... about half the games of a regular season and no all-star tourney.
  10. In 2016 they had about 35 or so players on the team and in 2017 they had around 49 according to MaxPreps. In 2018, it dropped down to 27 and last year it looks like 25. Major drop-off in just a couple of years. Was there something that happened in the area that would correlate with that kind of quick drop-off like a plant closure or similar?
  11. I remember back in the early 70s, when I was a ball boy for one of the local high schools, we didn't have a home field at the school. There was a city stadium where many of the local teams played their games. We tended to show up and go straight onto the field from the bus ... as the "home" team. I think there was a locker room where the teams could go at half-time, but I recall, after games, we just got on the bus and went home ... blood, sweat, dirt, smell, and all. Most of the away games were similar in the sense that, once the game was over, you got on the bus and went home and the team showered, etc. when they got home.
  12. They will, likely, come up with something just like they did with youth baseball over the summer ... where the boys/coaches line up on the baselines and tip their hats to each other and wished each other luck in the next leg of the bracket. This summer, one of my sons and his teammates played tic-tac-toe across the diamond with another team, sending their moves on a ball, waiting out a rain-delay. There are opportunities for camaraderie and sportsmanship between opponents; even if they look different than we are used to. Sportsmanship isn't dead or going out the window. People who care about it will always find a way to practice it, even if it isn't physical. Those that don't care are the same ones who trashtalk or refuse to shake the opponents or coach's hand even when we do have lines. The game, and sportsmanship, will survive this even with the twists and turns being tossed our way. May not be perfect, but the players and coaches that care aren't going to let it fade off in one season or even two or three.
  13. PAC-12 makes it 40% of Power5. The statements from the SEC and ACC look like they are leaving wiggle room. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/acc-and-sec-issue-statements-after-big-ten-and-pac-12-s-decision-to-postpone-223435749.html FTA: Both the ACC and SEC said they would continue to make decisions about a fall football season based on the advice of their medical professionals in the wake of the Big Ten and Pac-12’s decisions to not play football in 2020. “I look forward to learning more about the factors that led the Big Ten and Pac-12 leadership to take these actions today,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “I remain comfortable with the thorough and deliberate approach that the SEC and our 14 members are taking to support a healthy environment for our student-athletes. We will continue to further refine our policies and protocols for a safe return to sports as we monitor developments around COVID-19 in a continued effort to support, educate and care for our student-athletes every day.” ... “The ACC will continue to make decisions based on medical advice, inclusive of our medical advisory group, local and state health guidelines, and do so in a way that appropriately coincides with our universities’ academic missions,” the conference said. “The safety of our students, staff and overall campus communities will always be our top priority, and we are pleased with the protocols being administered on our 15 campuses. We will continue to follow our process that has been in place for months and has served us well.” “We understand the need to stay flexible and be prepared to adjust as medical information and the landscape evolves.” The Big 12 is the other Power Five conference tentatively planning to play football in the fall. It has not released a schedule for its teams.
  14. Looks like the Pac-12 may join the Big 10 in suspending play until spring. https://sports.yahoo.com/source-pac-12-cancels-fall-football-season-will-attempt-to-play-in-spring-195430277.html FTA: The Pac-12 has canceled the fall football season, multiple sources told Yahoo Sports. The league is scheduled to make the announcement formal on Tuesday afternoon, continuing a day of seismic news in the sport. The decision comes soon after the Big Ten announced that it was canceling its fall football season in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both leagues plan to attempt to play in the spring. The Pac-12 decision was universally expected. The league has multiple teams that would have difficulty starting practice this week because of local government restrictions. The virus has been especially impactful in California and Arizona, which houses six of the 12 schools.
  15. Fine, you don't care for WC's decision, but no need to malign an entire class of Indiana football over your disdain. I can think of several 1A teams who would play anyone on their schedule ... even if they had only 10 players.
  16. A part of this seems to be concern of college players "organizing" as part of the conditions of pushing forward this season ... that was one of the big parts of the WeWantToPlay. That would likely have pushed them closer to being "employees" as opposed to amateur athletes, or at a minimum giving more negotiation strength ... and that could provide all kinds of non virus-related issues for NCAA and schools moving forward. For the record, I'm not siding with or against the schools or the athletes; just stating that I think that the decision was not entirely related to virus concerns.
  17. The government has the ability to mandate vaccinations under its charge for the public good, but the question ends up being whether it would enforce said mandate. There are places where mask wearing is mandated by the local governing bodies and the enforcement wing is flat out stating that they won't enforce it. It hasn't aged well against its OWN metrics.
  18. While I appreciate that folks want to move on, it was just a bit over 5 months ago, on this very site, that the following post showed up to, I'm assuming, discredit or play down, COVID. Given 160,000+ dead since then, it hasn't aged well.
  19. Speaking of spokesmen, don't you have some hydroxychloroquine to peddle?
  20. Yep, Delaware, the state, announced yesterday that that they were moving to around mid-February start. https://www.maxpreps.com/news/Ewln-Uk6sEyWWqi5jUyXrA/hawaii-and-delaware-are-11th-and-12th-states-to-move-football-to-2021.htm
