West Lafayette beating Jeff, in general terms, wasn't surprising since they play Jeff close every year and had actually beaten Jeff before ... back in 2018. What makes me wonder is that my son said that WL didn't look all that good when they scrimmaged Harrison a couple of weeks ago. Scrimmages are not necessarily data sources to hang a season hat on, but will be interested in seeing what the Jeff - Harrison matchup looks like in three weeks. May get a glimpse when Harrison faces Westfield on Friday.

WL knocks off Jeff for the second time in four years. Last time this happened, WL won state. Deja vu all over again?

3A WL wins over cross-river rival, 6A Jeff, 27-21 after leading 21-0 in the 1st quarter.

Jeff comes back with a TD score. 27-21 WL with about 6 minutes left.

Harrison opens the season with a 27-7 win over THS. Next week they host Westfield.

In 4th quarter ... WL puts up a TD to start pulling away from Jeff 27-14.

Knights try onside kick, but TW recovers. 34-32 TW over LCC ... final.

TW and LCC trade TDs again. TW up 34-32 with about a minute left.

Tri-West widened the gap 28-20, but the Knights answer right back and score, but 2 pt. conversion is no good. TW 28-26 with roughly 5 minutes left in game. Harrison now up 27-7 over THS with about a half quarter to go in the game.

LCC comes back in 2nd half ready for business. Tri-West still leads, but LCC cuts lead down to 22-20 getting ready to enter 4Q. Mavs surprising Guerin 13-6 at start of 2nd half. Harrison up 21 - 7 over THS going into the half.

Jeff not quite dead yet ... closes the gap. WL 21 - Jeff 14 with about 2 mins left in 1st half.

Jeff gets on the board ... still trails WL 21-7.

Harrison 14 - TH South 7 just before half.

Tri-West 22 - LCC 6 ... couple minutes left in1st half. WL putting on a clinic ... now leads Jeff 21-0 almost 12 minutes left in 2Q.

West Lafayette picks off a Jeff pass in the endzone and turns around and scores again. WL 14 - Jeff 0 with about 4 mins in 1Q. LCC closes the gap on a TD pass. PAT fails. TriWest 15 - LCC 6.

Harrison up 7-0 on THS early in 1Q.

Tri-West 15 - LCC 0 ... end of 1Q.

WL up early on Jeff 7-0 about 10 mins left in 1Q.

Tri-West up early on LCC 9-0 with a safety and a TD ... close to end of 1Q.

Given some of the things that I've seen posted on here about schools, Warren Central being a 14.5 point underdog is probably the least offensive.

No, but I think they have feeder programs like Westfield, Gibson Southern, Center Grove, Harrison, West Lafayette, Pioneer, ...

This is where LCC is too. There are three elementary schools that eventually feed into LCC, but technically it's really like two schools because one school is K-6, another is K-3, and the third is 4-6. In a good year, there are enough kids for two teams at 5th/6th grade and two at 3rd/4th, but it usually ends up being a single 3rd/4th and two small 5th/6th teams. The LCC program tends to play other programs around the area. For a while it was a much larger league where LCC was playing WL, schools that fed into Harrison ... like East Tipp, Klondike, and Battleground ... Delphi, Frontier, South Newton, Kankakee Valley, and Benton Central. Recently though, Harrison formed its own self-contained league like McCutcheon did with Little Mavs and Jeff did with 56ers. LCC was playing Benton Central and South Newton and occasionally playing some teams out of the Monticello Youth League and affiliates like North White and Twin Lakes. I think this season, LCC will be playing games against the Jeff 56er teams. The Harrison program is a self-contained program. I think this season the plan is, based on the number of kids that I see coming out on a regular basis for practice is probably 5-6 3rd/4th grade teams and maybe 7-8 5th/6th grade teams. In that case there, you are getting the benefit of the small number instruction in a big school program.

Yet they all do exactly what you claim Chatard does that gives Chatard the "CYO advantage." Incidentally, LCC doesn't do CYO and they don't run the varsity playbook either, but like WL and Harrison and Jeff, they start the kids in their programs around 3rd grade. Incidentally, Benton Central also starts their kids out around 3rd grade tackle too.
