  1. Probably works the same way, pending local guidelines, that siblings/family run into. A kid in quarantine for being in close-contact proximity to a positive test does not necessarily have their siblings, or other family members having to quarantine. I don't know the specifics of the Southwood situation, but if they are quarantining due to result of close-contact proximity to a positive test ... e.g., a teacher in a classroom ... then their opponents are, currently, treated like their siblings and are not subject to quarantine. Unless the Southwood players now test positive. Just ran through this scenario with my son and his team over the last couple of weeks. He and his teammates were in close-contact proximity with someone who tested positive. Pretty much whole team went on quarantine. We quarantined him in the house, but siblings were still OK to go to classes. He tested negative and came off of quarantine today. He was like a puppy that slipped out of his leash when he got outside today. 😃
  2. I'd say that SA and AC probably have had more consistency week-to-week and a better chance to get a rhythm and try things out. LCC has pretty much pieced together a season and I'm not sure if they've gotten any ability for traction. Your guess is as good as mine as to who's in and who's out at this time on the roster. The couple of games that LCC won this season were against the 9th and 10th place teams in the Hoosier Conference. It will likely be a gutsy run if they get to regionals and semi-state. Usually, by the time sectionals start, the previous nine games start paying off in spades for LCC given the schedule they normally play. I think this season, there's a lot less benefit and, as @BendNotBreak, there will be little looking ahead and very little ability to look back for lessons/inspiration. It's down to just the present and, in a sense, LCC's likely to look more like start-of-season as opposed to start of sectionals over the next three weeks ... should Frontier not ambush them.
  3. I thought it was something that Coors tried to unsuccessfully push on the masses.
  4. Had a semi-respectable showing against Pioneer last week.
  5. Not likely. McCutcheon had a couple of decent seasons back in 2016 and 2017, going 8-3 and 7-4 respectively and back to 2014 for a 9-1 record. Before that, you've got to go all the way back to the O'Shea era to find the team going 10-2 back in 2002. McCutcheon's in the last 17 seasons 6-10-1 and the last six seasons have been winning seasons ... albeit some of them just barely with three of the six being 6-win seasons
  6. Watching the first couple announcements over in the playoff cancellation thread makes this more than a passing thought ... especially given that LCC's volleyball team had to cancel in sectionals due to quarantine less than two weeks ago.
  7. Wonder if they could implement something like even-odd. First game seating in odd sections. second game seating in even sections with cleaning commencing in odd sections, and then odd sections for 3rd game. Haven't looked at the specifcs, but it would buy time for cleaning... and would only need one major cleaning during games, with the rest reserved for before and after the days' crowds.
  8. Is that because of the endzone cameras that they invested in for the program? 😀
  9. Was WL COVID-related too? Harrison's freshman had their last two games cancelled although one was going to be against the Harrison JV because Kokomo cancelled ... I'm not sure if they fielded a freshman team this season ... and the second one was against McCutcheon who they had already played earlier in the season.
  10. Frontier and Clinton Central enter Sectional 42 as only two teams with winning records. LCC enters as the team with the least number of games played as well as the least opponents having lost twice to Tipton. The two teams that LCC has wins over played for 9th/10th place in the Hoosier Conference last week. The two teams that LCC has lost to are Sagarin-ranked 4th and 11th in 3A and 2A respectively and #2 and #7 in 3A and 2A respectively in the IFCA Coaches' Poll. While almost always dangerous regardless of record, LCC's been strapped all season by COVID and missing the usual HC grind, as well as early-season testing matches against 3A Tri-West and Guerin Catholic, and will be the unknown this season. Can this be Frontier's opportunity to pick up a sectional title? In the wings is Clinton Central hoping to pick up its first sectional title since 2009 ... possibly meeting before the sectional final in a grudge match with Frontier if both teams make it through the first round.
  11. Especially if volleyball is any indicator. I haven't seen specifically if it was teams that were in contention or not, but my guess is quarantining/COVID doesn't take into account 0-8 or 8-0 ... as somewhat evidenced by its impact on pick 'ems this season. We're getting to the point of the season where a lot more rests on being vigilant, so hopefully all involved keep their eyes glued on the goal. Not necessarily a trip to LOS, which is always nice, but mainly making sure to play, and be able to play, all the way to the end of the season and their full potential.
  12. Last year's P/P 1A game was a nail-biter with a 2-point conversion to win the game in the last minute or so. Pretty good entertainment.
  13. Either that or a really transparent homer. 😀
  14. Was really looking forward to Harrison's freshman team playing McCutcheon again in a rematch.
  15. I took too many risks early on going for a knockout and then had to double-down to get caught up. It'll be next season before I'll get a chance to add a third Caddy to my bookshelf.
  16. Ummmm ... should I tell him that I didn't have any picks last week? 😃 Reminds me of that old joke about the Cleveland Browns. The Browns had just received the kickoff after their opponent's had scored. The refs blew the whistle for the two-minute warning and, inadvertently, their opponents mistook the whistle for the end of game whistle and ran into the locker room. Three plays later, the Browns scored.
  17. I'm less plugged in to LCC this season due to retiring from youth coaching after 18 seasons, but my daughter was telling me that a friend of hers from LCC was saying that the team is running short of normal numbers due to quarantining and also some of the starters are some of the ones quarantined. I don't know if there's more testing going on via the schools or not, but I know that, in some cases, it's just folks reporting their own outcomes. As an example, my son plays football for one of the local public schools and we just received a call from the school that he was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID ... so he's now on quarantine. I don't think the kid was tested by the school, but instead was tested on his own and reported results to the school who then used contact tracing to quarantine the others. I'm not sure if some schools are actively involved in the testing ... for example, Purdue does random testing of students ... or if it's just plugged in families that are keeping the schools in the loop. I agree that the two stints don't bode well, particularly from a small school situation. There's a lot less opportunity for "next man up" and also a lot less opportunity for continuity as you are losing a chunk of line then another chunk of line or backs then another set of backs, etc. Hard to get started and hard to get any traction.
  18. The questions there are going to be 1) without the usual slate of HC grind and pre-season rigor, will LCC be battle-tested enough for a decent post-season run and 2) will they be able to shake the quarantine blues and have a full roster come post season or will they be short-handed? The games that they have played, they've been semi short-handed.
  19. How does Lutheran look this year compared to last year? They were really solid last year ... lots of size, good speed, and good mix of weaponry. A lot of teams have a good passing game or a good running game or a good RPO or a good gadget game or a good *fill in the blank* game ... and if you can blunt that, then you've got a shot. With Lutheran, if you stopped them one way, they just moved on to the next weapon. And they had so many of them that it took nearly all game long to finally slow them down. Have to be able to hang close with them until you can get it figured out. If not, they just end up getting too much of a lead.
  20. Any insights on the LCC/BC game? Is LCC still running short-handed or is BC starting to get some traction in the building of their program? Or a bit of both? I'm hoping that BC is starting to see some benefits of the work that their youth coaches have been putting in. Really good group of guys over there and I truly wish them the best and appreciate their engagement working with the BC kids.
  21. Just not going to the right inferno ... Lord, I apologize for that.
  22. I like the message content as well as the tone of the message. Taking responsibility, recognizing the several supports/stakeholders beyond just the team, and no wishy-washiness in the approach ... and a pledge to do better.
  23. Are Freshman Raiders playing Goshen too in place of Kokomo? If so, home or away?
