  1. I wish her the best. It's a lot of fun trying to search down little tidbits of history to give to future generations. I'm currently trying to figure out game-by-game results for Ben Davis girls basketball, and it's a challenge. Once it's done though, it's there for everyone. My project is easy compared to what she's trying to do.
  2. Penn/Mishawaka is like BD/Warren, Avon/Brownsburg, Bloomington North/Bloomington South, HSE/Fishers right? I mean, not the same district but huge rivals. I can see this making difference in gate receipts, but I think Penn needs to play someone down in this area.
  3. No surprise. Sounds like a great choice.
  4. Center Grove always has a great program at all levels every year.
  5. Proper. Coach Hart's built a monster.
  6. Ben Davis/Warren dates to 1937, and there have been 99 meetings, including the playoffs, in that time. Warren leads the series, 58-38-3. Ben Davis's next longest continuous rivalry is with North Central. They've met 75 times since 1956. The Giants have the series lead, 43-32. After that, it's Carmel. The Giants played them twice in the 50's and they've played every year since 1981. The series is tied at 25 a piece. The other longtime series (may not be continuous or on hiatus) include: Ben Davis/Decatur Central: 62 meetings, Ben Davis leads 45-16-1 (Series on Hiatus) Ben Davis/Southport: 58 meetings, Tied 28-28-2 (Only play in the tourney now) Ben Davis/Pike: 50 meetings, Ben Davis leads 38-12 (Played 1945-1954, 1961-1963, 1970-1979, sporadically in the tournament, then 2012-present)
  7. Ben Davis JV=7-2 Ben Davis Freshmen=3-6
  8. There's no land for a new high school in Wayne Township, and there's not really any talk of splitting up BD. There hasn't been any talk of that for 30 years.
  9. I think the Giants should still be pretty good. Isaiah Rogers has one of the best arms I've ever seen in a high school quarterback. I mean, his ball means business coming off his arm. It's going to be incredibly hard to replace the leadership the Giants will be losing on the field and off (Kevin Vanderbush retiring), but I think Coach Mann and his staff will "go back into the lab" and figure something out. I was really impressed with Russ this year. While he landed on second or third base with this roster, he certainly never acted like it the way he coached them up. As far as the rest of 6A goes, I would expect Warren will have a lights out, championship defense. They were very young this year. If they can figure something out on offense, they could certainly have enough to hang a plaque. Center Grove's not going anywhere. You'll probably see those HCC teams continuing to show what they're made of...especially Westfield who, anecdotally, I heard was a year ahead of where they thought they'd be. I'm interested to see what happens with Sectional realignment this year. With Snider joining 6A, that likely pushes Fishers and HSE south again since the IHSAA does not want to separate schools in the same district. Of course, that depends on what squads end up at the bottom of 6A and drop to 5A with Cathedral and Snider up.
  10. I thought the officiating was pretty good in the state game with the one glaring miss. I'm sure that official knows he missed it and probably feels worse than most. It happens. He's human.
  11. I believe that Eric Moore and Craig Buzea are already there and John Hart is in the Illinois HOF.
  12. Congratulations to Coach Mann and the Giants!
  13. Can someone please tell CalPreps that Ben Davis is the full name of the school? I've tried. MaxPreps finally got it right a few years ago. Ben Davis is named after a place which was named after a person. It's like Jim Thorpe, PA, for example. You wouldn't put Central (Warren) or Grove (Center) on there. OK, back to my Thanksgiving nap.
  14. I've heard rumors that BD will be in their purple on Saturday.
  15. Good point, but there are a few. Mark Zackery IV is one example at BD.
  16. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AwtBtCgBk66eA6FdqCRgJkXlNc4dV4yQmA8W33_qn7c/edit?usp=sharing There's the current update.
  17. How far back would we push wrestling, basketball and even swimming if there are boys that wish to play those sports that also play football.
  18. 58-38-3 Warren... It was 31-13-3 when Dullaghan took over. Dullaghan cut it to 39-29-3 before losing his last two. So, it was 41-29-3 when he retired. You're right. This rivalry has been really good recently. Several games in the last 10 years decided by less than a TD...regardless of which team was the better one.
  19. I don't know. I sure hope not from a broadcast perspective, I dislike the black jerseys.
  20. 1996 🤬 Westfield was a big underdog and nearly pulled off the win too...I know...not really a northern team. I don't know how to quantify it. I'm just looking at what Crown Point has done. They're destroying people they should destroy. I think Coach Buzea is a good football coach. I'm trying to give them credit for what they've done. I don't think folks should think this is going to be 63-14 again. Of course, if I'm wrong, I'd be happy to have you point it out.
