2024 6A Who can win it all?

I stand by my answer. Do you think Center Grove is the Sisters of the Poor? -
Championships are they all equal

I think when you start comparing teams to other teams...yes. For example, the 1991 Ben Davis team vs. the 2017 Ben Davis team. They both were undefeated and won state. They both were dominant. I'd argue the landscape of Indiana High School Football was much tougher in 2017 than 1991. Maybe I'm wrong. They both weight the same because they hung a plaque, but when we start cussing and discussing the strength of each team, I have to think 2017 was better. Does that make sense? -

Can confirm @KmartGiant has been around these here parts as long as I have. Probably since K-Mart was still a national thing...at least since the one on Washington Street on the Westside was open. -

Cathedral was very close last year. That Ben Davis game in the Regional was a classic. You are 100 percent correct. Last year, they were loaded. -
2024 6A Who can win it all?

The usual suspects will be in the hunt in 6A, and it will come down to whomever wins the South Semi-State...even though Carmel should be much improved this year. They were fairly young last year. As far as Ben Davis goes, scheduling is hard. It really is. The Giants face the same issues as some of the other 6A powerhouses. No one wants to play them. A "national schedule" sounds great until you dig into the logistics. The MIC was formed because of scheduling, and it's not going to change now. Pike and Avon belly up to the bar every year when others decide to come and go off the schedule for no apparent good reason. Hopefully Cathedral sticks around on the schedule for the long term unlike the team they ultimately replaced who decided a 10 minute drive wasn't as good for them as going to Fort Wayne. My two cents. -
It was incredibly unprofessional conduct by a journalist. Giving heart signs to a female basketball player then compounding it with what he said. You can't do that as the "columnist of record" for the Star.

I don't think it was an overreaction. You can't say what he said. If he had left it after the gesture (which was weird in itself), then it would have been just awkward. This was more than awkward. It was creepy and unnecessary.

To me, it seems like the transfer rules are applied unevenly. Some rather eyebrow-raising ones sail right through. Others that seem like slam dunks are held up or denied or have to go through the courts. I don't have a problem with the one free transfer as long as undue influence is not allowed. I also think what some schools do...which is right on the line...needs to be reviewed. Finally, you should be scrutinized if you are a lay head coach with AAU ties.

New Sectional Assignments
BDGiant93 replied to Coach Edwards's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The Central Indiana 6A Sectionals are pretty easy to make sense. I was just hoping they weren't going to reinvent the wheel. When Carmel dropped to the South, BD had to go to the Sectional with Tech, Southport and Perry Meridian. That was great for the trophy case, but it wasn't so good for those squads. Warren is in that boat now. With Cathedral up to 6A, you can't put WC in with NC, LN and LC. The one that never made sense to me was when Ben Davis had to drive past North Central to be in the Sectional on the Eastside with LN, LC and Warren. That configuration had Ben Davis playing Avon in the Semistate. Seeding is a different kettle of fish. There seems to be no desire to do that from the IHSAA. -

Potential 6A Sectional shakeups coming?
BDGiant93 replied to BLACKGOLD2007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I know that it was a different time back in the days when you would "see stars". I remember the old AD at Tech, Frank Craig, telling me about his first meeting with my father at Indiana Central back in the 50's. Apparently, my dad knocked him out cold in practice making a hit. He said that when he came to that my dad was standing over him saying, "Freshman, are you ok? You alright?" He said that always stuck with him that my dad was so concerned about him. Football used to be different! Not saying it was better either. It's probably good that we pay attention to, you know, brain science. -

Hardly anyone in 6A plays on grass these days in Central Indiana. I'd have to go back and look to see the last time Ben Davis played a game on a grass field. It may have been when Terre Haute North and South were in the MIC. -

I know it was a very small dataset, but you could see in the scrimmage that Westfield was going to have trouble against Ben Davis. They could not keep BD's defensive line out of their offensive backfield. -

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't see much room for Carmel to grow out much more. It's not like Zionsville, Noblesville, Westfield or Fishers/HSE. It's kind of locked in by those places. -

Ben Davis was a really good football team last year, but Brownsburg or Center Grove could have won it all too. The Giants were just a little better/luckier on that particular night. It was going to be one of those three or even Cathedral in 6A. Respectfully, no one in the North was going to win State last year as good as CP was.
